Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi there can anyone help. I just bought a 57 plate C5 estate the rear window wouldn't open or wiper work. I have fixed the rear window problem but still stuck on the wiper. Blade is stuck at 11oclock position.

Hi

My Xantia's ( Xantia 2000 16V none hyderactive make year 2000 ) front spheres need to be replaced. For many year I used I.F.S.H. At the moment the spheres are not available. I.F.S.H catalogue number is XA 55 FC, what they to have in stock is BX 55 FC which are for Citroen BX. Does anyone know if these spheres are interchangeable ?

We advise NOT to interchange these 2 references of spheres as they have completely different specifications concerning damping module and volume.

I've searched for this but can't find the answer. One of the batteries went on one of the fobs, replaced it and checked the voltage with a multimeter. But it still won't work.

I've only been able to find something on the internet, which says to put the ignition on, hold the lock key for 10 secs and then wait half a minute, but that but that...

I've ordered some Pagid front pads.

But they're too big, the pads themselves and the two tail ends. Before I have the conversation tomorrow, I thought I'd just ask what may be the problem. The paperwork is right (I used the online reg checker) and the box indicates C3 02 -

Might these be boxed wrongly and be 10 - models are perhaps 1.6 16v ones.

Thanks for the help, right pads fitted, just cheapies (it's the wife's car and never gets up to speed or any distance). It was a shame really, 'cause the Pagid were a good deal at less than £22.

On the C3, the warning light (radio panel) for the fog light, reversing light and bake light keeps sounding.

It happened earlier this year, just before the MOT and the garage must have reset it whilst doing the MOT.

Thanks for the help. It was indeed a dodgy earth. The car is in quite good nick and looked a lot cleaner than the photos I saw, plus there only appeared to be a very, very small amount of damage.

Anyway, scraping the connectors, contact cleaner and some more scraping of the connectors had it working again. Although it may need something more...

After the tragic end of my much loved Xantia last month, I had to get a replacement, and fast (2.5 hour bus journey each way to work otherwise). I have a Xsara Picasso 2.0 Hdi Manual on a 04' plate and I'm having problems with 4th gear being stiff to get into.
I was assuming from all my searches that this is due to gear linkage cables being past their best, but I have no problem selecting 4th when the engine is not running and without my foot on the clutch. Is this the clutch...

Errrrr I can select 4th no problem with the engine running but stationary. Reverse is also a bit tricky but it always goes in with a small amount of persuasion.
I'm wondering now if the cars worth saving if it needs a new box. Anyone had to buy one recently and know the costs please?

Hi.

Recently acquired at 92k mile 2005 C5 and just noticed that the offside rear wheel is sitting further forward in the arch than the nearside.

If you stick 2 fingers between the leading edge of the tyre on the offside your fingers touch both the the tyre and the arch. The same 2 fingers on the other side sees some clear space left over....

Hi all. My Synergie (which has climate control) is only blowing lukewarm air. From reading around, it sounds like either heater matrix or flap motors. How would I get to the flap motors? Has anyone any instructions/diagrams?

when my daughters was doing this i had a hand in bandages, so go a friend ( another indy ) to sort it out,

he swapped over the duff motor for one of the others with less importants,

not sure which one as i wernt there

99% sure the motors are on each side of the heater box behind the center console

Hi All,

My S1 Xantia V6 exclusive has the auto dipping rear view mirror on the passenger side but I've come to realise it doesn't work properly. :(

More specifically it doesn't come back to the correct place when it switches between the two positions. If I adjust the position to be optimal when driving, next time I put it into reverse then back...

My XM used to do it intermittently Simon and got much better the more the car was used... I think it's just lack of exercise and use.

If you can, pop the mirror bit off and get some light lube worked in around the gearset behind it. The mechanism is quite an interesting one...

I was checking gearbox mounting, disconnected the battery took the electrics off then I put it back together and nothing! checked and realise I had not connected main lead from battery, so disconnected battery and connected lead now it turning over but won’t start...

Mike, yes, auxiliary belt.

First check is to make sure it's bone dry and not contaminated with LHM...

Adjustment: Slacken the eccentric tensioner and then using a square drive move the automatic tensioner so that it can be pinned in its most retracted position - you can use a small Allen key to pin it and you'll see the two pinning/index holes...

although Sir Jims suggestion is a good idea, i think on seeing that crank pulley i would just replace it straight away, as it looks quite bad to me,

to crack the crank pulley off if it really is stuck solid, go to a commercial/truck/bus workshop, and ask them to crack the it off with one of there little :yikes: air guns,

That's BSI acting out, because if you set a wrong parameter for a wrong car, obviously some side effects can arise, which can't be explained logically ... that's why I'd really like a rollback feature to the DiagBox/Lexia .. you save the entire configuration and if you miss something in the next, it will automatically restore the last known good...

So I am back to Citroens with my current C8 2.2Hdi Exclusive CC, now I have had it a while there are a few bits I want to get sorted out now, the main one is the driver side seat, its an electric captains chair BUT someone has removed the fore/aft adjuster switch and the plug from the seat loom, the backrest one is still there and works...

this is a 1.6 8V TU petrol,

on idle not every time if the throttle is blipped and on the revls settling back down the engine surges slightly,

on plugging my DIS-LEXIA up it two fault codes came back

P0300 = random misfire
P0304 = misfire on cylinder No.4

whilst running live data it showed the coils pack readings

1 & 4 1.84ms
2 & 3 2,5ms...

i would think the lip of the seal sits into a groove on the inside of the piston/caliper body bore, so it is held in place by the piston being in the bore

I was told that I MUST use fully synthetic low sulphur oil on my 2005 C5 1.6 HDi

That's correct, but the 2.0 8v HDi is not as sensitive to using the wrong oil. A 10/40w semi synth or fully synth is fine for it as long as it meets the specs.

Finally got round to buying a clone Lexia and am stumped straight away as it arrived with a couple of discs but no installation bumf. Got it to partly load, but in a couple of places it asks for a password and I have no idea if there is a fix somewhere in it around that, or not.

Ordered 2 Falken ZE914 tyres for xantia fully fitted, swop back tyres to front and balance, fit new tyres to back balance and new valves fitting at home £128.
I found out later they were asymmetrical and not rotational which I've only ever fitted.

Firstly are these asymmet tyres ok given I only use the xantia for very short journey all town...

Well Sunday just gone I was off out with the misses for a lovely drive when no power loud buzzing from engine and car crawls to a stop.

Couldn't see anything obvious so called green flag and guy said we had a snapped timing belt. Estimated cost £500+ :shock:

Towed home chatted to a mate and was told I could repair myself and he would advise me...

Does this engine use a crank pulley with a rubber damper in it, and is it timed via this pulley? They are known to fail, putting the timing out even when it appears to be right.
Crank timing done with a pin in the flywheel on the 1.4

Hi All,

Been a while again but have need to ask some questions.

Have been hearing a knocking noise coming from the steering and suspension to front right.

The easiest way is to check if it has a sport switch next to the hand brake. If yes then its a hydractive.

Popped into the Citroen dealers on Sunday, to try and get a drive in the new Cactus. They only had a 1.6 hdi , and I want a petrol, there was a long wait to drive it, so I didn't bother as I didn't have time to wait. The car looks amazing, and Citroen are going to sell these so fast I believe.

Any suggestions for cleaning and making look great those grey plastic side protectors (halfway up the side of the car about 2 tall) that run down either side ofa Xantia? I have tried some Plastic Trim Cleaner from Halfords which takes an age to apply, I just need something quicker.

I notice the side protectors have a fine lumpy texture to them...

I've got a leak. I don't think it's particularly bad, but it's enough for the STOP light to have come on this morning (I have to admit to not having checked the level for a while! #-o ).

It appears to be dripping off the subframe behind the engine, towards the passenger side.

Are there any likely culprits in that area I should be checking...

Check the LHM return pipes into the tank. Had one that had chafed through behind the engine. Pipe ran down from LHM tank angled across towards off-side where it had chafed through. Fixed by sleeving over with clear flexible plastic pipe which happened to be a close fit and have had no more problems - with that one :wink:

My wife is a ZX fan (auto only). She had a very nice 1.9D which she loved until I filled it with petrol - don't ask!

as much as i dislike suggesting them, Halfords have a B.O.G.O.F. on its own bulbs at the mo for the brilliance / super brilliance/ and other ranges, they also had a deal on upgrade bulbs at a fiver each, pickd up a pair when mine went on one side, otherwise, the osrams as mentioned, very good!

Another thought

On my synergie if the door handles on the outside don't spring back to the resting/central position it sometimes fails to lock. A bit of spray lube around the pivots sorts it out, but it sound like yours is more serious than that.

And another other thought,

can you lock it by the good old fashioned method of pushing the buttons...

Hi John - welcome!

I very much doubt that the heater plugs would stop an HDi starting - the fault is almost certainly elsewhere. However, not sure about the relays you mention - one of those could be causing the problem. If it suddenly decided it wasn't going to start it could be the in tank fuel pump (if it's got one!).

Engine bay passenger side directly under windscreen scuttle not sure what this spongy sort of papery thing is arrow marked 1 is the drain hole to the top of it is the vent for the heating (I think) and arrows 2 is the unidentified item.
I was removing all the crap mostly leaves using a coat hanger to coax them into the drain hole and push them...

Hi,

My C5 is now coming up to 100,000 miles and I'm after some information on some issues/maintenance that should be tackled soon.

The suspension feels odd, its not massively bouncy/hard although it no longer glides over the bumps like a hydraulic car should. I'm not sure if the height might be slightly too high or if it is in the early stages...

luckily I have access to a ramp as work at garage so makes it easier. Will make a decision next week and order all 6 and the tool!!!

The car feels jittery over the slightest imperfections in the road so this is what's making thinking of changing them. Its feels like the wheel has a flat spot in but is has not, on the bounce test the front does...

I have a problem with a rear wiper on my Xantia 3ltr. For a few years it worked occasionally, now it doesn't work at all.
Has any members experience this? Also would anybody have a circuit for this model, as there is no Haynes manual available for the 3ltr model? Also it would be helpful to know what fuse is used by the rear wiper motor on...
