Yes, and no Paul... I have a set of scrap ones I use as templates... Somewhere on here are some photos I took of them alignments of the bushes... If you can't find them, and I can't right now, I'm happy to take some more pictures to show exactly the alignment..

Basically, you can use the casting flash webs as alignment references...

Let me know if you want some pictures Paul ;)

Casting flash is the bits of metal that ooze out at the time of casting from the mould joints; the moulds are normally in two halves. Casting flashes are ground down as part of the finishing process but remain visible...

Do you want the pictures or not Paul?

If you do I'll take them and publish them and then you can see exactly what casting flash is ;)

If it's stubborn I tend to drind a grind down it, the heat seems to help.

When I did the P-bush on the Xsara I ground a flat off the centre sleeve with an angle grinder. The sleeve then just fell off.

That was ten times easier than getting the new bush on to the arm though. With no press available I had to use a lump hammer and an impact socket to persuade the damn thing on. It made a huge difference to the feeling of the steering though. The amazing thing was that it had passed an MOT recently with suspension arm wobbling around in the remains of the P-bush.

You have to be ever so careful grinding it James. You must, on no account, mark the journal surface of the arm by accidentally going too deep with the grinder. Such marks can give rise to a stress-riser and this could lead to catastrophic failure of the arm.

A little heat is OK but not too much as this may affect any heat treatment carried out to improve the strength and/or fatigue life of the arm.

I've nicked one before now, but managed to file it out completely. It left a slight flat on the jounal, but the bush was still a tight fit.
