In preparing to do the cambelt and camboxs on my xantia I realise that I need to buy a new torque wrench. I used to borrow a set of teng wrenches for this sort of work. My own torque wrench is cheap and nasty, I dont trust it.
What sizes would be a good start? Im guessing I must have the 1/2 drive for the crank. Then do I need the 1/4 or 3/8 for putting the engine back together.
I intend to buy Teng which seem a good balance of quality vs price. Are there any other brands worth considering? Its going to delay me another week buying the wrenches but they will be used a lot so I can wait patiently.

Re: Torque wrenches for cambelt change etc
Every so often Lidl and Aldi do car bits, and this can, on occasion, include a torque wrench. I got mine about 10 years ago for £7.99, and it was similar to the one my Mum got (a Draper) for £40! Mine had an extender bar and an adaptor while hers did not.

James, I'll do you a copy of the relevant official manual sections dealing with this and bring them down with me when I visit...
If you want some pre-reading I have the PDF instructions for doing the belt. I can make that available to you if you wish...

James, some documents that may be useful to you:
This is the main one you need but ignore the Dynamic Tensioner bit...
ES9J4 Cambelt Replacement Document
Use this document to tension the belt using the new-type tensioner...
ES9J4S Cambelt Replacement Document
Documents with tightening torques for the camboxes and ladders:

I can also lend you one of the special tools that will make the job the job easier...

Thats brilliant Jim, I'll be pondering over it tonight.
Pdf of belt change would be a massive help too when you have a moment.
