Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I removed one of the rear lateral windows on my CX Prestige as rust showing underneath on like the sill bit, to chop out completely needed to remove window.
Any how was fixed on with a thick rubber adhesive strip and some kind of silicone.
Does any body know where I can get the rubber strip or similar and what it's actually called.

Just as the title says, really... I replaced the resistor, simply because I had one lying around. A quick check of wires shows no live entering the back of the switch, but mysteriously, there is a permanent live at the fan motor. Motor moves freely, and fuse is intact. Confused, cold and more than a bit steamed up when it rains. It's a '97/'98 ZX...

You'll probably find that its dirty or burnt contacts in the ignition switch, as Citroen, in their wisdom, ran full power for the fan through the ignition switch contacts. You might find wiggling the ignition key in the lock might induce the fan to work.

06 c4 boot keeps sticking. The release makes a helluva noise but the boot wont open. This is intermittent but getting worse. I have oiled but still not great. Any ideas?

Hi, take it youve tried climbing into the boot and sticking a screwdriver into the little hole in the latch mechanism to see how that operates and sounds.
once opened i'd strip the panelling to see if water ingress has damaged either lock or actuator (if fitted).

My VSX looks a bit low at the back (I'll check it properly when the snow stops), how do I alter the ride height if it's low?

Haynes manual recommends taking it to a dealers, don't want to do that.

Look at the way the roll bar is connected to the wheels and work out which way the roll bar would turn for a height increase or decrease.

Adjust the height corrector clamp in the opposite direction to this.

1997 Xantia 1.8i 5 door hatchback.

My drivers side lock just spins without unlocking the door but the passenger side lock works perfectly.

Can I remove the two locks and swap them around so the drivers side has the better lock?

I never unlock my car by the passenger side unless i have no choice in the matter like the key not working on the...

Thanks, sorry to sound thick. Can't say that Fred's paint looks sparkly, maybe it's all the dust. I did work in garages and they had bodywork shops but it's a good few years ago now! Picked up a few tips, I know it's all in the prep.

I'm thinking of fitting an alarm to my 2009 berlingo van and was wondering if there was anything that could be switched on using a lexia and fitting a siren? I know that cruise control can be activated and a cruise control stalk fitted, just wondering if the alarm would be similar.

Hi found that when press brake front side lights(leds)glow dimly with ign on also panels lights ie dash/wheel and lower controls gets brighter if engine running but full light.have tail/brake leds bulbs along with plate light.

Lately when I start the car it will take about 2-3 minutes before I can accelerate properly from low revs. If I switch the gearbox to manual and drive keeping revs over 2000 everything is ok but once revs drop under 1500 the car almost loses all power. Once it warms up everything is ok. Any ideas?

Is the car an LX with 4 speed fan contoller??

IF SO then the plug to the resister would of over heated and given a bad connection. The resister on base LX models is on the passenger side..

I did a post on it I think on here with mine, But what I actually did was cut the plug off and soldered the wires directly to the resister.....

Hello,

I have a 2009 C5 Exclusive. It recently had the 'suspension fault' warning. The dealer tells me it's blowing the fuse for the pump although the wiring is okay. So it needs a new pump. This is £1200 fitted.

Has anyone any other sources or suggestions for pumps? Are the refurbished ones any good or how about ebay or a breakers?

Hi all I've a 2001 2.0 HDI Evasion/Synergie and cant get the pipe to one of the injectors to stop leaking it's tight but after a run she stinks of diesel and has a nice puddle of it under the injector,on tick over it's fine but after raising the revs it leaks from the joint where it joins the injector.
Any ideas please,Thanks

I have a 1994 (L) Xantia 1.9d with the lucas pump.

Last week it started to run poorly with intermittent hesitation and lack of power (it's all relative :) ) I noticed the stop solenoid was faulty at the top where the blue plastic bit is held in place and appeared to be drawing in air so I replaced it. This seemed to fix the issue until today when...

I have a 1997 Xantia

The front suspension has started bouncing and there is a regular click coming from the front.

Now I know the bounce can be down to one of the spheres being bad and I am pretty sure the click is coming from the accumulator.

One of the front spheres has already been replaced so I was planning on replacing the other one and...

Hi all does anyone know if its possible to buy a tool to remove my front spheres, so far they have resisted all efforts to unscrew them ie. chain strap, large pipe wrench and air chisel, any help would be much appreciated. ps.there is someone on ebay who claims to make them but does not post a picture.

Berlingo is the same. A bit of a pig to do. There is a trick to it though. I can't recall what it was as DickieG was doing one of mine and the strut wouldn't come out. Then he did something and it came out easily. As it's 3 years ago I can't recall what it was now..

Hi there,

I have a 2010 plate Mk II Citroen C3 exclusive 1.4 petrol with the the climate control.

Suddenly the heater fan has stopped working.

I did the usual and checked the fuses but all seems fine there.

I have been doing some reading on the forum and it looks like it might the digital fan controller.

Can somebody give me some pointers as...

The climate control is a simple controller board on the back of the buttons/dials and the rest done by the BSI. I'd suggest for a start, unscrewing the fan motor and checking it with 12V applied to the heavy gauge terminals.

Some vehicles - the Berlingo is one - also have a relay between the BSI and fan motor, this is often hidden away and has...

Hi,

When I lift my C5, the front right wheel drops way more than left. It moves down to the extent where a return hose is stretched to the limit. Suspension tube extends so much, that its lower part totally moves out from a dust boot making chrome shaft visible. I think that changing tire with a default, small jack would be impossible 8-).

I have a 2006 Picasso 1.6 HDi 90 with 77500 miles

this morning she started black smoking under strain, LOTS of black smoke!
just took her out again and she is only smoking for a couple of minutes after start up and then seems clear but she seems to not be getting any boost from the turbo!
fuel economy seems fine, the engine sounds to be running...

With several hundred miles under the belt now, it seems pretty clear to me that the facelift C5 2.0 136 I have recently acquired likely has a turbo issue. Acceleration from low rpm is definitely producing smoke. Having got the Lexia working, I have read the turbo pressure and at low rpm actually got a value less than the recorded atmospheric...

I'm curious, did Xantia door handles come in any colour other than black? I'd like a set of white ones on my estate, so far I'm thinking Xantias only ever had black handles and I'll have to get mine painted.

Would've asked in the thread I dedicated to the car, but thought it might get missed.

I guess I'll have to get a spare set to dismantle and repaint then. I'm hoping it tidies up the flanks a bit, though I would prefer to remove the handles completely and just have the doors on a solenoid, just not really practical for an everyday car.

I have a citroen relay 2.0 hdi 55 every now and then it will go into limp mode normally when im in slow traffic. Ive changed all injectors egr valve and glow plugs also had a new fuel filter. Spent over 1000 pound and still same problem any help would be appreciated

The car has always had a slight urrrm... whine when first starting and reversing out of their drive, then about 3 months ago, the Starter Fuse popped. BUT I didnt know this untill after I swapped the starter for another one, then I found the fuse...

Your engine and box combo in the C5r wouldn't work Paul as the ecus and wiring changed from the original. It's possible if you have lots and lots of time but I suspect you wouldn't have that much time on your hands. Best just to get the motor replaced and move onto the 2.0 engine instead as it's easy enough to put the solid flywheel and clutch...

Hi, my beloved S1 Xantia. she is bog standard, which I like! I continually get dust covering the inside of the windscreen. There appears to be no pollen filter ( no A/C) which I would assume filters most of the dust and CO. out. Air filter changed on time. is there anything that I can do to improve it ? always a duster close by. cheers Terry.

Well ... I could not stay away from C5 ownership! lol
got last week and today picked it up, a 2003 C5 2.2HDi Exclusive Estate ... with 151.000miles
It has a few faults with it (suspecting EGR/Swirl ....thingies) but cannot know for sure until my new Lexia arrives, I have everything setup on my computer, just missing the cables.

I don't know about the x7 but on the earlier models its just plug and play provided you use parts from the same model. You need to replace the airbag ECU along with the blown airbags and the pretensioners. Before I start pulling my hair out, could I ask for your opinion, I had a good working set of Lexia cables, but I given them to a friend.
I today got delivered from the same person I bought the first set, a new set Rev C apparently. I installed 7.49 Diagbox version.
When I connect the OBDII cable the Diagbox does not seem to be able...

My car has an issue that i hear a sound like click while overing 20km/h i guessed that it is because the warning system runs with 20km/h

What do you think about it?

As I'm looking to replace my Xantia, I'm acutely aware of my own ignorance of not only the model types (C1-C8, DS etc) but the trims specs (ie SX, Exclusive, VTR, VTX +) too. Then there's MkII's and Facelifts. If that's not confusing enough for the average punter I find it's further compounded by things like the Picasso versions of the Xsara, C4...
