Local Lexia Owner to help diagnose my C2 (Please).

Unread post by JFN »

FIXED: MY DAD THE KNOBBER HAD THE FUSE IN THE WRONG HOLE HAHA :)

Cheers all for helping!

Hi all, I am new to this forum and was suggested here by the Pure Citroen group on Facebook, essentially I am looking for a fairly local (West Midlands) Lexia Owner to help me diagnose and possibly reset my Citroen C2's BSI.

Issues I'm having:
- Starting car resets date/time on dash,
- Starting car causes wipers to turn on automatically,
- Car's central locking from the key fob has gone completely,
- Turning the car off causes hazards to flash repeatedly for a long period then eventually stop.

This all started happening after my father removed each individual fuses in and out of the car to check if one had blown (due to rear driver side indicator not working), then disconnected and reconnected the battery.

So is there anyone near the Herefordshire/Worcestershire area or even West Midlands that can help (Can drive to your location if not too far).

Thank you and it's greatly appreciated!!!

*Also, I have tried the BSI reset myself through pressing the lock on the key fob etc. and it didn't work unfortunately.

Hi and welcome.
Although a Lexia will help you diagnose the car, it cannot 'reset' a BSI. You can download the BSI software, but you won't be able to do this as it is a dealer only operation, requiring access to the PSA servers.

You say you have performed a BSI reset, but pressing the button on the fob is only the last part. Have you completed the whole BSI reset procedure fully?

Follow this procedure to the letter first and see if that resolves any issues.

I suspect you have upset a connection somewhere at or near the battery fuse box, so recheck all the maxi fuses and connections here next.

I wonder if the 'shunt' fuse has been put back in the right position? When the car comes out of the factory it is in a 'delivery' position (sorry, but I do not know what the correct term is), but then, as part of the pre-handover procedure, the fuse is moved to the 'normal' position.

The 'shunt' fuse is normally in the 'in cabin' fuse box.

What year is your car and the VIN would be helpful too.

The shunt fuse James mentioned is worth checking - on a 2008 model it is in the passenger compartment fuse box, number 18 on the diagram below:
C2 2008 Shunt Fuse
C2 2008 Shunt Fuse

The shunt fuse was definitely removed and put back, not too sure on if it was put back in the right position.

Do you have any image to show where it can go?

Also I have done the full procedure and no luck unfortunately :)

Sorry - only the location as specified in the manual.

The BSI reset procedure allows the vehicle networks to 'sleep' and then to 'wake up' properly, so the timings are minimal - I would try again and leave the battery negative off for a good 30 minutes, which during this time you must not open any of the doors or tailgate, as this will wake up the ECU again and will be a waste of time. If you have tried all this and checked all the connections are tight and no wires are cracked / shorting, then you will have to get it on a Lexia to diagnose further and trace the fault.

In the interim, look at this thread of members with Lexia locations willing to help.

Scroll right to the bottom for the link to the map where they are all located.

The 'Shunt' fuse is in a position with three 'holes', and two positions. I cannot guarantee that this will work, but it could be worth moving the 'shunt' fuse to the other position. If, for example, the fuse is using the left and middle hole, move it so that it uses the middle and right hole.

If you have the handbook it may have a diagram showing the correct positioning of the fuse.

I have just done a Google search, and the shunt fuse has two positions; 'Customer', and 'Park'. I have not, however, found anything that clearly indicates which position for which mode.

The car is 2006, and the VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

One other thing to check is all the earth connections - If dislodged or corroded a bad contact can play havoc with the electrical systems. This is where all the earths are located and the descriptions:

M000 battery earth
-MC10 front left earths
MC11, MC12, MC14, MC15
-MC20 front right earths
-MC30 front left earths (dashboard)
MC31, MC32, MC33,
-MC34 centre console earths
MC35
-MC40 front right earths (dashboard)
-MC50 central cabin earths
-MC60 left rear earths
MC75
-MC70 right rear earths
-MM02 engine earth

For all C3 models, the park shunt fuse has two positions, left or right.
Left is Transit mode, right is Customer mode.

ETA: Allow the BSI to go to sleep before swapping this fuse position.
