Seems my joyous S1 Xant wont lift her nose - unless the leaver is in high , normal the back sits down but the front is all the way up, only moving leaver to low does it sink.
So - height corrector on the front maybe? any video or photos of location?
Xantia front height correctors?

Re: Xantia front height correctors?
First port of call, check the dogbone hasn't popped off. Easy fix! The fact it does move from Low to High suggest a working height corrector.
ETA: Good grief, yes James I forgot to mention the golden rule! NEVER WORK UNDER YOUR CAR WITHOUT SOLID SUPPORT SUCH AS AXLE STANDS.

Re: Xantia front height correctors?
That strongly suggests a sticking mechanism. It is possible to free them off, but you will be working underneath a car with a suspension issue. Make certain the car is safely supported at a good working height before proceeding. People have been killed when the suspension has dropped with them underneath
Would the front suspension work if the dog-bone had dropped off? The OP does say that moving the lever to its furthest position will cause the suspension to move.

Check also that the small bleed-off (fluid return) pipe leading away from the HC isn't blocked. If fluid cannot leave the HC via this pipe (it goes back to the reservoir) the HC can get stuck on max height.

Mind you the dogbone tends to only pop off if the rest of the linkage has seized!
