Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

One of our forum members is unable to view the forum since the move.
He's on O2, same as the web server.
I'm trying to find out if O2 could be blocking it.

I've lost the filtering ability on the Cit version. :?

Does any remember a magazine called Citropolis ? It's still going in French , but it was also published in English for a few years. I had a subscription during that time , but when it went French only I stopped. Was a brilliant mag , really miss it !!

i have a peugeot 306 td with a key pad immobiliser, i broke down so i got towed back to my garage, slacked off an injector line - no feul being pumped. its possible that the stop solenoid was nakered but it is sheilded. iv have got a replacment pump (locus) the same as origenal. but the immobiliser will not accept it. with the new pump wired up...

How much flexibility (tolerance) is built into typical automotive ECUs to allow for transient changes to voltage? Or is it more that current can be the problem when affected by a heavy external draw?

It comes back to my recent dead battery, and in the months prior, a succession of error (fault) codes occurring....

Basically ECU's are generally designed to cope with a supply voltage as low as 9.5 volts. Reference voltage sent to sensors is 5 volts , low enough below the minimum envisaged ECU supply voltage to prevent error readings.
If the supply voltage is below the lowest acceptable to the ECU the engine will just fail to start.

I'm getting fed up paying stupid prices for diesel just to get to and from work and am seriously considering buying a biodiesel plant to set up at home.

Found this article this morning for a new Pug concept car the SR1, its a hybrid, but don't let that put your off though on paper it seems great.

Well I was there today , had a cruise around the Citroen stands. As has been mentioned the 2CV prototype was there , very interesting. Had a mad thought as I was looking at it , would be cool to make a replica !!

Whilst reading this month's Retro Cars magazine earlier on, there is an advert for a motor organisation who do deals for car clubs to book track days.....they can be booked for half days or full days at reasonable prices...I think it was £69 each for a half a day, or £20 for 2 hours....

Sound interesting?

the v6 is fun and pulls well, and the hydractive does ok but it leans too much in the corners and only momentarily did I leave second to third on the one straight. Bedford was really good for tracking especially first time because its an airfield, very wide lots of run off and space to over take.

I've been around a while, and seen a few shifty tricks.

Vince's opposition just showed me a new one: Website and checkout basket prices given clearly as inclusive of VAT, yet on the con note they're still the same price but stated as zero tax. I checked through the paper trail of emails and sure enough, they've covered their tracks pretty well....

At what point, did the PSA engine ECUs start storing codes in a manner that battery disconnection fails to fully erase?

Does it vary by ECU maker?

I'm curious, simply because one of the common things I see on other forums is people saying Disconnect the battery to clear the codes . Sure it worked on a BX or 405, but I've long had the...

One possible concern about these and I was thinking about this a few years ago too...

With non-volatile memory which is going to hold essential ecu data, now some of these are getting on these nv chips are going to start to fail, I can see this causing problems in the future...

We all recognize that to replace a Xantia, and many other models, heater matrix is hardly a walk in the park and they generally choose the most innopotune moment to pack up. I don't like the long life reddish stuff personally.

Hello all

Quick question - do I need a battery charger?

I'm storing my Merc 190D over the winter in a garage, while the Xsara soldiers on through the salt and snow.

I don't intend to spark up the Merc until March/April. The battery is disconnected but will it be knackered by spring if I don't keep it charged?

Seriously, if you have kids get on this site and make a message from Santa for them (if they still believe in him) We made one for Jack (3.5yrs old) he couldnt believe Santa knew him and was talking to him :D

You can also use it to send to adults too....I just sent a funny one to my dad :lol:

Hi all
My PC running XP has given up the ghost,cant get it to even want play :evil: :evil: (and i have tried the trusted give it a kick treatment :lol: )

I've had two Omegas and to be honest they put me right of of Vauxhall's for good. I just got a couple of dodgy ones so I think if I were to buy another I would pay the extra for a well cared for example, there are far far too many sheds out there. The V6 is not very sprightly due to the weight of the car. Dare I say the autoboxes really blunt...

Took my Mum shopping yesterday afternoon , about 4.30pm , we got back about 7.20pm , it's 2 miles from where she lives !!
Whilst we were in the store it started snowing heavily by the time we got out at about 5.30pm there was about 2 inches on the ground and the car park had come to a standstill !! So we just had to sit there with the queue moving...

Thanks to a tip off from Richard (DickieG) my pure yellow H1 headlight bulbs arrived today from Malaysia.....via ebay.

Verdict.......not bad for the price...£10 :wink:

I have tried in vain to get some yellow headlight bulbs for my Xantia to match the old style yellow french headlamp look, but none including these gets quite that...

I dont think that is possible with a xantia but then ive never done one, but it looks like there is no way to get the matrix out with the dash in, its just in a real pita place, the xm should have a section of the heater box cut out to get the new matrix into its cassett type slot without bending the corners of the fins down a bit but there is no...

The 2.1TD manaul is the rarest of them all, in diesel form, as most are autos.

Well im led to believe that 2.1s are easier to work on and tend to go on to 300K without many problems at all. I suppose the 2.1TD has more space in the engine bay and is less complex too. That red one has a low 59K miles, it drives so nicely too, i wouldnt really...

The screw-on oil filter is an odd size/spec that's apparently hard to get (here, Ryco ZA2 which is NFP ). I had a modest browse through various Mini suppliers' web pages in case early Minis shared the same issues - but it seems not.

Is there a common adaptation, or a commercially made adapter kit to...

I have just bought myself an old S reg saxo and due to the weather and gritters on the road I have run out of screenwash and have hunted for the bottle to refill it and can't find it anywhere. Car did not come with a manual obviously hahaha
