Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Just had to post this..

My daughter Robyn has just passed her driving test :D :D :D

She did it a couple of months before her 18th birthday..

I completely forgot she was taking her test today and the first I realised was when she called and said Dad, I've passed my test!!!!

She's now able to pilot her Pug 206 all on her own and that means...

Hi,
Spent the weekend just gone camping with the missus & kids at the Citroen Car Club Midlands Section Rally 2010 at Stratford Upon Avon Racecourse.
Turn out was good .
Forcast pre event was poor but the actual weather turned out great, loads of sun, blue sky with a bit of a wind, but nowt we couldn’t cope with. Touch of rain on the Saturday...

has anyone got any tipps for cleanning print heads on an Epson R200 printer, it has been unused for a couple of years,

i know you can pick up new printers for around 30 to 40 quid,

but thats why the world is in the state its in now :evil:,

Very often it will wake up at 3am and do a self-check and head clean.

As thread title really, I was wondering what the best sensible way of storing these was ?

I'm thinking of scrapyard retrievals really. I plan to grab one or two while I can but not sure about storage.

Should it be dry stored ? (logic seems to suggest not, in my mind it should be kept full of fuel) , although fuel...

Forget about seals being eaten, if you're fitting a 2nd hand pump, then get a new set of seals ready and waiting to fit just before you need to swap pumps.

A couple of months ago I bought a 54 plate Renault Scenic from a dealer and part exed my Multipla for it. Recently I realised I hadn't received the new log book so looked on the government web site. It said fill out a V62 which I did. Now they've sent it back and said I have to pay £25 for a new logbook! Any legal...

About time they did away with the paper disc anyway, it isn't used for law enforcement apart from the offence of failing to display one. :roll:

I'll admit on almost every journey I make I go a bit over the speed limit, not in built up areas as there, there is a good reason for speed limits, but on open roads the limit is basically for your own safety, and I've been driving for over 25 years and know my limits. My worst speeding areas are winding country roads, as I love bolting down nice...

I have seen lots of X and Y reg plates but recently saw one on an 02 plate.

A salutary tale..

A couple or so weeks back I swapped the private number plate that was on Rattiva, my project Activa, onto my red Activa.

One of the major problems on Rattiva was a massive sunroof leak that turned the interior very moist indeed.

Has anyone made their own CD's to play in the car via the standard CD multichanger player in the boot?

I made a CD from my MP3 collection (converted by Nero) not sure if it would work but was pleased to realise it does.

However, I get a lot of skipping, most noticeable when going over bumps so I'm curious to know if anyone else has tried this...

Its basically a CD changer emulator that allows the original changer/head unit and steering controls to be used with MP3 discs.

The only thing putting me of is the price and the fact that whilst being able to store 99 tracks to a 'disc' you cannot...

I've yet to see the car, but a friend has got a DS23 EFi Pallas coming into his Classic Car Auction on the 9th October, at Anglia Car Auctions (where Top Gear and the Ami was)

It's only done 46,000 miles with 15 stamps of main dealer service history and it has either been owned by it's supplying dealer (3 times) or D enthusiasts.

Nah, it's worthless, not even worthy of consideration. It's lacking the most essential part of a DS, the BVH semi-auto gearbox...

I must agree! BVH is an absolute delight.

Does anybody have a peugeot citroen 2.1 IDI cable operated bosch injection pump on thier car? If so i would really appreciate it if somebody could tell me the bosch part number of their pump think it should start with 0460 so Pug bus can build me a 1.9bosch pump to 2.1 specifacations as im struggling to find a 2.1 pump to replace the lucas setup...

I know there was a debate about the large service intervals, but this is partly aimed at those with older (diesel) vehicles.

Is it just me who likes to do the 6k oil +filter change even earlier ? , at about 4k to 5k or (assuming I have not done that mileage) every six months at the most ?

I also replace the fuel + air filters every third oil...

Hi folks, just thought i would up-date you on my Xant VSX TD , as you may gather from the title , the search for a power steering pump has been abandoned , and the car is more or less finished . :( :(

I did the front pads last weekend, while i had the wheel off i liberally sprayed the steering UJ with plus gas , this seemed to do the trick , and...

The Newcastle ferry does not run any longer and the service from Hull is the freight one. This only leaves Harwich to Esbjerg and a drive around 3 different countries. There are also 2 very long bridges on the route that cost around £120 in tolls for the round trip :shock:

This is a nearside rear 405 caliper with its pink bits exposed...

Both sides had a right hand thread. Lacking time and gung-ho I didn't pull down the caliper any further.

The rebuild kits in Peugeot/Citroën bags are actually TRW kits. Would be nice to work out what other seals are needed to do a full rebuild like the exchange units sold in...

One fellow here dismantled a sealed for life ATE master cylinder (off a BMW, but similar) and found a pretty standard internals kit with stainless sleeve worked for it.

When you look at the calipers above, they are quite simple. The little bearing race allows for a mismatch between caliper retractor tool thread...

hi guys, my insurance is up in a few days.....whats happened to premiums this year? The whole quote system seems to have jumped up £100 on average over last year.

Ive been on go compare and also confused.com, does anyone know of any good little insurance companies i could try. The bigger guns seem to be taking the mick on prices :evil:

Guys ive just found myself looking at facelift HDI Xantias on ebay which got me thinking......

What are the day to day benefits of a facelifted HDI Xantia over a TD earlier one? also what are the mechanical downsides....?

Im thinking...get a non hydractive Xantia with aircon, replace the spheres, get it tip top and keep it clean and tidy.........

Just thought you might like to see what I found when I moved a shelf unit in the old garage I'm demolishing.

The first picture shows the back of the unit

The white stuff is paint pulled off the wall in the garage. The cupboard was stuck to the wall.

If you look closely you can see the Bumblebee colony under the cupboard. Behind the wall...

One for the punters and experts alike - some harmless speculation. I don't yet know the answer.

My Xantia suspension makes a tink noise when driven moderately to hard on rough surfaces. Perhaps akin to dropping a 3/16 ball bearing into a glass-lined sugar bowl. Sound appears to be on the driver's side.

Triangle bushes may be 10K miles old....

The 2.1TD does feel like a hardly old lump, it is much more old school with the short useful rev range and smoke on start up and heavy acceleration after slow cruising. The only time i see the HDis smoke is a bit of mist in headlaps of following cars as i floor it. However, the 2.1TD in the Xm estate is exactly the same for performance when going...

As it is coming round to my insurance renewall I am looking for suggestions on who are doing good deals at the moment.

Currently I have prices ranging from £417 as a renewall quote (best so far) up to £1032. AA have just quoted me £700 ish.

Car is a 406 2.0HDi 90 Estate 51 plate, no mods.
I'm 26 been driving nearly 6 years, 6 years no claims....

It's recently been losing track of the date/time at startup; you go through DOS Setup, save all preset values and exit, then it loads Win XP where the time/date may be manually corrected. After a hot restart it's usually good.
