Pug 406 estate experience

Post by trooper30 »

Morning fellas, wanted to share my pug 406 experience with ya. As the wife went off to somerset in her Xantia I needed to get up to newcastle and Scotland over the weekend so I bought meself a cheap 406 Turbo Diesel estate to lug loads up north. Never had a 406, big ugly estate car, dont really like them, bought it as its a practical diesel thats all.
But i have to say I was mega impresed with it, so comfortable, no numb bum or back ache, aircon running ice cold, and the 2.1 lump pulled off 560 fully loaded miles to a tank, pulled along nicely at at average of 85-90mph the revs were just on 3000rpm making for quiet driving and good economy and the temp gauge didnt get anywhere near the middle over 1000 miles. It really was a real pleasure to drive hence i will never diss the 406 again. If i could I would actualy keep this motor for myself as i rate it that much, but sadly i has to go on ebay, its done its job. I have a mate who has a 406 estate and I take the mik out of it calling it his oil burning family barge, guess I will be taking all that back when i see him
And putting the math together the 406 2.1 td lump pulled off better mileage that the wifes 1.9 Hdi lump over the speed and distance! Go figure!
