Just dropped close on 2000 squid for this - sadly no books and speedo has been flicked (by a prior dealer who saw more profit in a car with lower miles and no paperwork - go figure).
I considered an early one (H plate 91 so no cat legally required, despite what they say, go to a non franchise station and it will pass) then I could remove the inj system and power brakes, fit a 405 servo and just a pair of twin carbs. Would 'fix' any brake and running issues.
I seem to recall that V6 unit does not have any timing marks, you have to turn it 180 and then fit the chain for the other bank. I might be thinking of the 604 unit though.
Quite complicated bit of kit though generally
Andy.
91 205D-Turbo, gone but still missed
02 106D, TUD5B, gone but not really missed apart from the MPG
They are an awesome Hp18 4 speed hydro mechanical box, if they are serviced well they go on forever, i think blocked heat exchangers and black old oil kill them stone dead but other than that they are ok.
Now try and find a MK2 V6 that isnt on its 2nd HP20 gearbox and i will eat my shoes
Crumbs, I wouldn't go so far as to say they're an awesome gearbox Dean!!
That challenge with the Xm V6 is purely because they probably only sold
enough new to count on one hand...?
Xant v6 24v's seen to run to chunky mileages mind - smae box/engine.
Sure, there's been Jims and the duff red one recently on eBay that show
they can go pop too. I can show you a fully maintained Xm 2.0i manual
that lost it's 5th gear.
Dont ask me why but they seem to suffer in the XM, do you remember a couple of years back when two came up for sale within a few weeks of each other and one was on its second box the other its 3rd rebuild?
The HP18 is ok, i know your not a fan but its a lovable little box (albeit a 2cv sort of wierd love). Manual boxes seem to suffer just as much as auto's now, i think high mileage and hard use is starting to hit some if them though unfortunatly, shame about the xm Andrew, is it going to be fixed or is it a donor?

Are you serious Andrew or are you just thinking of weighing in the immobile ones rather than your whole collection, i know ebay is full of time wasters but surely you could whack them up with a £250bin and get some use from them plus a little extra money for your efforts?
