I saw that on the news a couple of times yesterday  A VERY close call.

Though I could have sworn one of the showings they had spliced out a few seconds between the vehicle busting through and the train coming...

:o Quite a shocking video.

I guess you could say the driver of the Merc was lucky to not get hit by the train ...

All of this occurred not that far from me - places on the video look very familiar.

Indeed, a shocking video especially when he went through the railway gates.

It just goes to compound the current Network Rail adverts about barriers being "Life saver's not time wasters"

There's not many cars that get hit by trains and survive, people even fewer........

The saddest thing is that it doesn't surprise me !!!

Surely not?

It's missing (I presume) the real time clock and car ID that would be somewhere on t'original file video, so at the very least it's been cropped or zoomed the whole time.

I'm a little bit underwhelmed by the police following so enthusiastically. At several points during the pursuit, there were narrowly avoided head-ons; it's reasonable to assume the Benz driver was conducting himself thus due to the police presence.

One thing readily gave away the car as being stolen - it's flashers were in use! :P

The clock is at the top right of the screen, unfortunately it's white so washed out by the bright sky in most of the vid.

I'm rather surprised that Cambridgeshire Police released the video of the early stages of that pursuit as within the IPCC guidelines I'd question whether it could be justified to continue the pursuit as far as the railway crossing as there was clearly a high risk of a serious collision due to reckless nature of the offenders driving.

High speed vehicle pursuits by the Police are dangerous and totally pointless !! Suspects only run if they are chased, some run faster the more they are chased, either way escalates the incident into a potentially fatal conclusion. The Police have technology that could be used to stop a suspect without pursuit, but their mentality is that a suspect should capitulate on demand so just push them to flee when they don't !
Why don't they just use a chopper to follow the vehicle until it stops and then ground patrol cars that have been following at a distance can pounce without all the drama ?!
