Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hello.
I have a Citroen AX with a 1.5 diesel engine and I set out to change the timing belt myself... but things went wrong and now I don't know how to resynchronize it. Does someone know how to do that?

To get the headlamp out you'll need to remove the bumper. Also the cross bar needs to come off because the bottom headlight bolt is behind it. The bar is held by two bolts each side, and the headlamp with three.

If I remember correctly you can see how many satelites/how good a signal your aerial picks up, not just the last fix you had.

But...I cant remember if this can be done with the standard buttons in the car or using a lexia. (lexia is a diagnostics tool). Either way you can at least see if the problem is with the aerial picking up satelites or not,...

Hi all,
finally got time to change the green goblin's cooling system expansion bottle, I knew it needed chaining since I bought the car, (just another little thing your mechanic failed to mention Brett :roll:) what I had not realized is just how bad it was.

It could just be a case of someone being strapped up by a dealership and warranty services. My grandfather had a similar case where VW wanted to change the timing belt on his Polo (*twitch*) on the second service, after a swift telling them to procreate with themselves a second garage said the belt was fine.

The one glaring omission from my Xantia's SX spec. is the lack of variable intermittent wipe.

I've noticed that the P plate VSX (that I'm using as a donor to repair the SX), has variable intermittent wipe.

I'm guessing someone must have at least tried such a transplant?

Does anyone know what the differences are, apart from the rheostat(?)...

I've transplanted both stalks from the spares car - the indicator/lights stalk to cure a suspected intermittent short in the indicator switch, and the wash-wipe stalk to get variable intermittent wipe.

No wires to swap (this is '96 VSX stalk into 95 SX. Just change stalks and everything worked as it should. My one whinge is that the...

does the fan motor its self differ with A/C and non A/C,

i scraped a 98 pug 406 saloon non A/C and it still had the heat sink as A/C XANT's do, but only one transistor,

also the pug fan spinn's the oposite sirection to a XANT,

It might be most readily salvaged from a breaker, and soldered/heatshrunk into the harness.

Just a query, would alloy wheel bolts be suitable for use on steel wheels?

My C5, as with most Citroens with alloys, have odd looking wheel bolts, with a washer and a extended length before the thread.

Im guessing as the C5 is supplied with a spare steel wheel, that these are fine for use. But after trying them in a steel wheel on my C5 they...

On a C4 Grand Picasso VTR+ there is apparently not a rear boot light rechargeable torch as standard spec, whereas this is a feature of the specification on the C4 Grand Picasso Exclusive.

So is it possible to fit a lamp/torch to a VTR+ easily I.E. change the trim, although that could be the easy part, as this is a CAN BUS vehicle are there issues...

2006 48k mile C5 2.2 HDI 173 reports P0104 with a clone Lexia. Symptoms are an occasional misfire and hesitation below 2000rpm.

I cannot recreate them on demand.

Unplugging the MAF made virtually no difference to performance or smoothness of the engine, but did bring up a fault code saying the sensor was unplugged.

Having checked all the usual suspects I had another look at the connections on the rear of the electronic boost controller installed by XantiaMan - result !! Vacuum pipe must have been disturbed by someone pulling out the ashtray where it is mounted - I have now securely fastened this & wow,what a difference!! On boost setting 4 the car absolutely...

Symptoms. C5 2.2 HDI 51 plate. Window works fine as per normal, but....
When I shut the drivers electric window, it Auto opens immediately to approx 4 open. I can shut it if I let it go up and stop it perhaps a mm or 2 before finally shut, then shut it.

I guess this is some sensor to protect you from trapped fingers...but, can I adjust it or do I...

I bought a Luk Clutch for my s2 Xantia 2.0CT for £172 and Mr Clutch centre at Hemel Hempstead fitted it £240 inc. Great price very helpfull chap. BUT my ABS light now on permanently.

They are happy to have car back and sort it, but some advise before hand may help.
I know when I replaced rear sensor I had to take car to a garage to use Diagnostic...

When I opened the bonnet in the freezing weather the other to get at the dead battery (another topic!), I instantly saw that the washer pipe got broke!

One problem after another.

Anyway, it's easy peasy to see where the pipe goes under the edge of the bonnet to squirt water, but I'm damned if I can see where it goes back to the pump and the...

Yes it's behind the front liner,you don't have to take all the wheelarch liner out.

I have just picked up a 1995 Citroen Synergie 1.9td SX with service history and all books. It's done over 200,000 miles but drives well and is clean inside and out apart from an oil leak which I have been told is the rocker cover gasket.

Have a look at the front of the Injection Pump.

If it has a cold start electrovalve that looks like the one in the picture below (pointed to by the red arrow) then it won't have an ECU and will not therefore have an Engine Management Light.

Also, if no ECU, the pump will have a cam-operated microswitch on the top of the throttle spindle....

having an issue with the front wipers on th xant... can not put the front wipers into intermittent mode, it just won't do anything if stalk put into intermittent mode.... possibly, th wiper may twitch a little, thats about it...

In a RHD they should also be on the driver's side and they should be seen after removing the narrow and long trim right above the pedals.

These types of cleaner have a very subtle result usually. If there is a noticeable change on one tankful, you have a more significant problem than a little excess carbon or fuel varnish.

Rather than viewing them as an event it might be worth imagining them to be like vitamins; something used regularly for preserving best condition.

Was there ever a major Citroen of the last 60 years that was more overlooked than the Xantia??? (OK LN/LNA, Ami, maybe...).

I would be keen to find out if there was a rally Xantia (works or not). On the track there seems to have been little Xantia presence too. Shame really as from my point of view, what the Xantia range needed was a worthy...

how close to the bumper is it sited?

say someone ..'ahem' got annoyed with trying to replace D/S headlamp bulb & errrmmm rather than smashing headlamp, kicked the bumper several times :shock: then noticed water dripping out.

Hello all
I have a Berlingo van 1.9, five years old.
When I pull away I occasionaly get a noise wich sounds like a spring going twang from the rear of the van.
I have removed the spare wheel carrier just in case it was hiting the exhaust, but that has not cured the problem.
Speed bumps and the like do not have any effect.

I guessed they were frozen so didn't operate them except a shot burst to test them. The wipers work OK and according to Haynes the pump is on the same fuse as wipers. I can't listen for the wash pump as the noise of the wiper motor drowns any chance of hearing it. I've had a hair dryer on the jets and all exposed pipework so think that's OK....

The tell tale for the side lights has gone on the instrument panel of my 2005 facelift C5. The BoL says that these are leds and cannot be repaired. Is that true? Has anyone had any success in fixing these? Or are there any specialist repairers out there who could do the job? I hate to think how much Citroen would ask for a new panel.
