Should be a straightforward job, I do mine myself with a very cheap home made tool consisting of a length of threaded rod and metal conduit tube. There is no rear adjustment as it has radius arms - unless yours has springs.

Am getting a P1519 Error Code on the HDi.

Paul previously posted that the fans should switch on when the air con is switched on but they don't.

If the car is running for any period of time, the fans pulse in and out. On for, I don't 15-30 seconds, then off, then on, then off.

Just got to the relays but they do not have the proper marking you...

I did a quick search, but apparently not a common problem!

The last couple of times I've cold-started the Xantia, the engine revs have been rising and falling by around 100-150 rpm at idle - as if I was gently pushing the throttle every second. It happens less when the engine warms up, but still fluctuates enough for the rev needle to move up and...

I'd agree a varying idle is quite likely fuel related, well air related.

New fuel filter a sensible idea always if not sure when last changed. Typically with an XUD/T unit I say every third or fourth oil change pop a new filter in.

Leak off pipes yes, only really seems to afflict Bosch pumps due to their return path I expect although most are...

Wondered if anyone knew the correct o-ring size for a Saxo / 106 TUD air intake. The o-ring sits in the air intake plastic pipe where it connects to the manifold, its in the last piece of plastic, the one that 'twists' onto the manifold / air chamber.

On a petrol manual Xantia I don't think a Lexia can show the actual road speed signal that is sent to the speedometer, as I don't think that goes anywhere near any ECU's, it just goes from sender in the gearbox to the speedo in the instrument panel. (Given that manual gearboxes don't have ECU's...)

You can display the road speed from each wheel...

The central locking on my Dad's 1994 Xantia SX has just started acting up recently - sometimes when locking the doors it will unlock again half a second later - the same behavior you would normally get if the opposite front door was left open while trying to lock, except the other door is closed properly.

With Fred sometimes the back doors don't unlock. They will work if I lock/ unlock again, or reach over and unlock from inside. Doesn't happen very often, about 1 in 4 times, and is more likely only the driver side back door rather than both. I'm guessing dodgy connection somewhere?

Ride height measuring, can't find point to measure

My Xantia is not as other cars............
I did the ride height check and front seems ok, measured to wheel centre etc and arrived at 125mm instead of 121mm so pretty good.

Tried the rears but can't find the point to measure to in the standard measurement diagrams.
This seems to be behind the sphere and rubber mounting and before the flat...

Started the breaker up to move it this morning, as needed to take a few bits off it.

Removed the glove box and the wooden horizontal bar above the radio, now the thing wont start,.

Turns over fine, but does not want to catch.

Hopefully is something simple, but anyone got any ideas on what to check first.

Classic XUD 1.9TD Head gasket oil leak point

Hi all decided to pull the head off the Xantia this morning, the oil leak was starting to leak alot! As you can see in the picture the lower left hand corner of the gasket has snapped off! Might go for the thickest gasket as there are no notches on this original one! Can I just stick the thickest one I can get on?

PS can anyone spot the four...

I've used genuine head gaskets on the XUD, despite their expense as although its not difficult its a long job and not really want to do it again too soon. The rest of the 'head set' I got a good quality one from a factors, gen H/G itself from the dealer.

The last one was on my own 205TD, that was still OK about 80K maybe 90K after I changed it...

Diesel Additive ECU fault in Lexia

After doing a couple of scans using Lexia I have a permanent Diesel Additive Ecu communication fault? What is this? and would a 2001 base model C5 HDI even have it?

Depends on the engine etc, the additive ECU.s do fail, showing this fault on Lexia.

2001 C5 in constant Eco mode

Since I bought my family bus a few weeks ago the car refuses to come out of Eco mode, battery and alternator is fine. have tested both with an volt meter and all readings seem fine. Also tried a brand new battery, still in eco mode from start up. Anyone have any ideas?

Well to conclude...with the help of easydiagnostics I've managed to get the car out of eco mode, it was in factory mode for some reason. Lets hope it wasn't in factory mode because of some battery drainage issue or alike. Very happy at the moment as I can now listen to the radio with the engine off, plus the interior lights work and I get flashing...

Replacement Radio beeps, will Lexia fix this?

So the radio on my C5 has stopped working (no sound) however the cd still works fine. I tried a spare C5 radio that I had kicking around and the radio Nd cd now work fine however has an annoying background beep every second. I assume this is the anti theft thingy bob doing its stuff. I'm seriously thinking about buying Lexia 3 and wondered if...

I am missing playing music from my iPhone. Therefore, I have decided to fit a Connect2, (CTVPGX010).

It appears that this simply connects in place of the CD Multi-Changer.

BEst way to change is start car leave it running remove better while still running while paying attention and pop new one on.

If the undertrays are original factory fitment the tester is just blowing hot air and looking for something to pick holes in... :roll:

Ive never changed a crank bolt on any HDi Ive done belts on...

but MAKE SURE while the locking pin is in the TDC hole behind the starter, of which I use a GOOD strong allen key, Tighten up the crank bolt with the fly wheel locked and use locktite on the thread!!! They WILL and DO rattle loose on the XUD and these, and you dont want that either!...

Quietest tyres for early C5?

My early C5 (details below) will need at least two tyres replacing soon, and I might decide to replace all four at the same time. It's currently on Falken ZIEX (I think those are the letters); 215/55 R16 97V.

The engine is so quiet when cruising at speed that road noise becomes the major factor; so I'm looking for the quietest tyres available,...

Go some scuffs on car which was on it when i had it.

Take it i will need to use clear laquer as well??

Peugeot use the same colour and call it Diablo red.
Halfords colour match is quite good for this colour I have found.

For a decent job you will want to use clear lacquer and when finishing adhere to recommendations for metallic paint.

I have a 2005 berlingo van 1.9d that as been diagnosed that the diesel pump is faulty,had the pump removed and sent to a pump specialist and they have said its nacked, my question is can I buy another pump with the same code as mine (R8445b350b) and away I go again or do I need to get the pump coded to my ecu? Will any pump work on this...

There are several ways of sorting this.

A pump from a similar year may well pop on and just be coded in, although you could swap the module from your old pump and then you'd in theory not need it coding as the 'code' is in the module on the pump side (well part of it is but that's irrelevant) , the problem I have here is I'm not 100% if you can...

Started with the timing belt job on the C5 today. Everything pinned nicely, all went in ok.

Followed the process to get the old belt off, everything seemed to be going nice and smoothly to this point.

Spare wheel - is it supposed to be secured?

Does anyone know if the spare wheel in the boot in a Citroen C5 MKIII is supposed to be secured in any way? Mine is unsecured with the tool kit in the centre. On other cars i've had the spare wheel had a long bolt through the centre, securing it to the floor of the boot.

Hi have this in my post re MK1 1.9TD est 96-97.not rising to the occasion?
But might not get info as not in listing for locks.
Drivers door is deadlocked now won't open from out or inside but did it on fob not key where as you normally hold key to do other day it was doing the lock/unlock thing as i drove along it would also lock the door as soon...

Ho well think ive got to bottom of problem have to try to get in and get door card off? then de-armour drivers door lock box covering it then break lock as it's failed by Citroen guy that knows about these as he does when they get them in.
