Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Two things I've noticed or thought about.

The engine seems very slow to pick up revs since the accident. If I press the throttle right down for a second and then lift off the engine revs don't change. It's like it's sluggish all of a sudden. It doesn't feel any slower or less powerful. It's just feels less willing. It may be my imagination but...

Personally I like Bosch plugs, although I'm not sure if you have any specific requirements such as multi electrode or long life / platinum etc with your vehicle. :)

I've just had the fore-aft gearchange rod fail on my BX. From a quick look on the forum, this seems to be quite common and mine failed where they usually do - the forward (gearbox end) balljoint socket.

I think Citroen call this rod the lower one - it's the long, longitudinal rod that has a balljoint at each end and runs from the bottom of...

Just had the MOT done and have been told that I need to replace a pipe that runs from front to back.

Lee,

I had to replace both rear brakes pipes on the rear calipers and then the front to rear supply pipe from ABS block

The above link will give you an idea what I did.

It wasn't a difficult job just awkward and limited access especially at the bulkhead to run piping.

I have recently drained & refilled the gearbox with new oil on the AX after replacing a driveshaft. I put in around 2 litres(2 x 1-litre bottles although one semed to have slightly less in it!)

You won't be able to drain out all the thick stuff no matter how long you wait - there's a whole load of places at the bottom of the box where oil puddles. You'll be lucky to drain 80% out, so when you 'refill' with the correct grade, you'll have an 80:20 mix; you may well have to do the job twice to get the contamination down to 4%.

I bought it on a whim from somebody I know because a) I never owned an AX and b) it does 75mpg.

Where on the pump is it leaking from?
Usually it leaks from the large hex that the metal suspension/brakes pipe screws into, this is about 79p to buy a new seal...

really getting stuck here!

from the hand book i can see 2 fuses in the under dash fuse box. off the top of my head i believe f17 is the air blower (30amp) and f2 is air conditioning (5amp)

I am led to believe i am looking for a bigger 40/50 amp fuse somewhere that is related to the blower.....no sign of it in the hand book. There is some 40/50...

Hi guys. Again. I've now got a fuel pump leak from the top cover. Taking the entire pump off to change the seal seems a bit involved so I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on changing the seal without removing the pump? I've got a seal kit as my dad has a VW T3.

Wheeee! Fred's going again! It's been a long time as not been able to work on her everyday. Actually apart from getting the armour off the hardest part for me was getting the 10mm nut back on the timing belt cover, not a lot of room in there.

hi again, was driving my 2.0 hdi last night when it lost all its power, revs to around 1500 rpm, plumes of browny coloured smoke, so i had a play with it today during work and , there is no eml light on and idles fine, but as soon as i try to increase the revs it smokes, stutters and wont rev past 1500 rpm....if i unplug the hose from the vacum...

Just put new rear calipers on my c5 ,I also found that one handbrake lever on the O S was seized . Removed both front calipers freed the off side one ,and lubricated the near side changed the brake pads and refitted . I've got a list of jobs that need doing on the Xantia. I shall go into a bit more detail on my blog when I'm in the blog entry writing mood!

The problem we have is that the rear calipers are almost touching the disks which is down to corrosion between the calipers and trailing arm. I've not done the job before but I'll put money on the bolts that...

On the two occasions I had to do this the bolts were not bent. I think it is because they are high tensile bolts, more likely to snap than bend. The most important things are preparation (Plus Gas everything daily for a week before you start), and slow, steady application of pressure to undo the bolts. I didn't have any problems in either occasion.

I have a new particle filter on order for my wife's C5 Looking at the old one today the 4 bolts that hold the two parts together look as though no matter much wd 40 I put on them they will shear off when I try and undo them. Are they bolts or studs?

Got it off and was blocked absolutely solid couldn't even blow compressed air through it. No wonder it was throwing fault codes and going into limp mode now and again it was a wonder it ran at all!

Can any body help me by doing a lexia session on my C5 in wiltshire or north somerset or is it worth me buying my own and are they hard to set up on a laptop with windows 7

Not if you purchase one from Jim at Easydiagnostics , I'm running Lexia/Diagbox on a Windows 7 laptop no problems at all.

Hi all, im new to this forum. I have a Citroen Berlingo this has been my fav van so far, the problem im getting is there are no lights on dashboard only oil light and airbag light. here is the story from start to finish.

...anything i need to look out for apart from the obvious checking electrics etc?
it's an '09 138 auto exclusive, 80k on the clock up for 7k, dual elec. towbar so saves me £200-300+ for fitting one
already looked at an '08 138 auto exclusive with 100k+ on it for 6k, must say mightily impressed at condition for the mileage, not a mark on it....

Hi, after changing rear pads on my Xantia, I have found I have a squeak coming from the brakes, as I depress the brake. Someone said , apply copper grease, but where? any help gratefully received, cheers.

Well, the dog has done quite a bit of damage. I need a new bumper, mounts, grill, headlight, headlight trims and fog light.

In addition, the xantia needs new drop links (as usual), new front discs/pads (as usual), new top engine mount and two new front tyres.

When I got my first Xantia I didn't know about that either. However, when you think about it (and if you know one item) it makes sense. When the A/C is running it dries out the air passing through it. When you are drying the windscreen you don't want damp air blowing at it. Hence the A/C switching on.

Hi all is there an easy way of checking my turbo hoses on my 2.2 c5 the car lacks power but with the windows down i can hear the air escaping i have been underneath the car and checked all the clips are tight, they all seem ok the intercooler seems ok with no oil or debris on it this problem seemed to start at the same time as i changed the swirl...

Undo the jubilee clips on the intercooler hose and look for splits where the hose has cut into the hose. Also get some soapy water in a spray bottle and liberally spray the hoses and look for bubbles coming out of pin holes indicating a leak. The intercooler is also known to leak on the bottom union where the round pipe joins the body of the I/C.

All fixed now, new temperature sensor and the housing. The car was reading an outside temp of 9deg and the engine temp of 101deg for a cold car in the morning :shock: :shock: :shock: no wonder it wasn't working properly :!:

Hiya, ignition on me old zx has started to play up and the ignition light comes on just as the key is removed from the lock. With a lot of fiddling I can get it to go off- and hear the relay click out- but if I then waggle the steering wheel and the lock is engaged the ignition light will go on and off.

I have a citroen C5, 2001 and my CD player is knackered, even though the radio works fine. I have seen you can buy AUX Adapters which fit into the back of the radio via the CD changer connection. I am wondering will this work even though my CD is broken and I assume the AUX then feeds through the CD player. Any help would be most grateful!!...

Hi all,
Asking for a friend here.
She has a c4 that has a Brocken handle on the glove box meaning it's always open.
it's a limited edition or something with cream interior though she wouldn't mind it having a black handle.

Can these be bought separately and replaced and if so any idea where from?

Appears to be one piece lid and handle. Citroen want around £150 for it..... scrappers then!

Same as the 307 then. Although to be fair when those changed shape slightly (around 2006ish I think) the problem was cured as far as I know. I do remember changing an awful lot of them...

I've had the intermittent ABS light for a couple of weeks but last night the light came on and stayed on.
Today I've been through a number of threads eliminating causes.. but the light is still on after a run this afternoon.
Here's what I've done:
I checked the resistance of all 4 sensors...this thread.

Evening gents

I went to get my lights alinged this evening and all dashboard and heater lights were working,when i came out nothing :( .This happened twice before but came on after a few minutes.

I never trust any of these places so i have my suspiscions that they may have done something as the car wasn't in view whilst i was in the waiting...

Are interior ventilation blower fans weak on Xantia's ? The speed on mine seems fine , the auto setting seems to max it out from the sound of it but there isn't much force at the vents !
Compared to my Mitsubishi Evo , which is a standard Lancer trim and equipment wise , it's pathetic ! The Evo's fan will blow yer sunglasses off !!
