Advice on C5 Tyre pressures please

Post by mijyou »

Hi I have just bought a MK1 2004 C5 2.0 hdi estate fitted with 205/65R15 tyres.

Can anyone advice me on the correct tyre pressures?

The sticker on the door column says front 2.3 and rear 2.5.

This conflicts with all the online tyre pressure sites which say front 2.3 and rear 2.1

Thanks

Common sense would suggest that if the tyres are those originally specified for the car then the doorpost sticker is the one to believe.

Unfortunately this isn't necessarily the case. The label stuck in Gracies' driver door post is definitely wrong (wrong tyre sizes and pressures), but the label stuck in her passenger door post agrees with the car manuals.

The service documentation says that the relevant pressures are those posted on the doorpost (which may be replaced with something irrelevant) and the user manual ... I think the correct pressures should be 2.3 front & 2.1 in the back, for the car not carrying more that 2 passengers, with no extra luggage ... in case it is loaded more, you should add more pressure to 2.5 and 2.3 ... for longer drives of course ...

Thats how i read it 2.3/2.1 for daily light load driving, 2.5/2.3 for heavily laden and motorway work.

Thanks for all the replies.

I originally set them at 2.3/2.5, but the conflicting advice on other sites got me wandering which was right.

I'll try 2.3/2.1 and see how I go.

Thanks
