Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Thanks all for your learned replies. Looks like I'll be busy over the weekend. The car was regularly serviced prior to being laid up & not due a cambelt change at the time, so I'll be lifting a cover & giving the belt a thorough visual before starting.

Hi I have the e-hdi 1.6 2011 c5 and was wondering if it would be poss. to switch off the stop start system permanently . Not used to it and don't like it .

Just got a year old C4 Picasso Blue Hdi, never had stop start before. it was weird the first couple of times but I just let it do its thing now, restart is just about instant.

Going through a city the other day, no jams but lots of stop start traffic, I saw total engine stop time 4 minutes in 20, fuel savings might be minimal but that's 4 minutes...

The MOT today threw up slightly worn front control arm bushes as an advisory. So, I have a pair of front control arms with completely shot bushes, which I removed from another Xantia. What is involved in fitting new bushes? I recall the rear bushes(anti roll bar end) were tricky for some reason.

A mate over the road has asked if I can figure out what's wrong with the C2 By Loeb he's just bought. Central locking doesn't work, by key or fob, and the engine won't crank. Battery has been flat for ages in the past we're told.

I have the last shell on the trailer to go.. so I decided today to remove the off side door jamb, as its in good order..

Starting here.. anyway.. as I cut round I noticed a Foam behind the metal..

Yes that IS a form of expanding foam UP in the arch space to help deaden noise! How canny!

The offside ABS toothed ring on the offside front drive shaft on my Xantia HDI 90 has split and sprung apart, leaving a gap. So the ABS thinks there is wheel slip and keeps kicking in.
Has anyone ever changed one of these, if so what is involved. It looks like it would be an interference sliding fit. The rings are available on ebay.

Hi All
I am leaking lhm fluid from my Mk 1 I thought it might be a pipe but it is very wet on the top of the reservoir, I have cleaned it a couple of times but after a run it is wet again, could it be the filters blocked?

I bought my old 2.2HDi Turbo with a slow coolant leak. I found that one of the bottom corners of the rad was corroded - and replaced it with a new one.

Thought I'd fixed it, then found that there's ALSO a major trickle of water that runs down the back of the engine block!

What are you trying to do?

You can bleed the clutch if the slave cylinder has been replaced, and then you can re-program the gearbox actuator. I think if you just want to set/adjust the biting point, then you just take it and accelerate hard from a standstill a few times.

Can anyone tell me if they have had an issue with there fuel pump in the tank like mine.

My car seems to struggle to drive like all 4 brake calipers are stuck on when a have more than a 1/4 of a tank of deisel in but anything under a 1/4 of a tank she flys along like there's no stopping her.

So am wondering could it be the fuel pump in the tank...

You could be right about the front calipers but need descent weather to remove and clean.

As for as the rear sensor goes a don't have a clue about would a need diagnostics to tell me about the over wait sensor.

Our friend has a 2.0hdi Citroen Berlingo.

We did a service on it about 6 weeks ago - oil and filters and lots of suspension work.

Its been running great ever since - now not well atall.

Little engine symbol is lit on dashboard and van cuts out dead after about 4 km. They have driven it about 40km like this - restart it , go 4 km , die , start...

Fault: Excessive brake pedal travel. Brakes don't start to have an effect until the pedal has gone down a long way and no real resistance felt until pedal is about halfway down or more. Applying brakes hard means pedal isn't that far from full extent of its travel.

Before you spend £800, you could try removing the cover yourself, scoop out the degraded foam taking care not to get too close to the facing, and then fill the gap with a carefully cut chunk of upholstery foam shaved to shape with a carving knife. Most of us have heard / seen footage of the classic Citroen DS having a wheel changed without jacking the car up and driving on 3 wheels, but an X7? Have a look at this - although I wouldn't recommend it, this shows it can be done!

I've Googled and searched on here, but not found anything specific. I'm going to change the autobox fluid using the '3 litres at a time' method. Is it as simple as opening a drain plug, which will release 3 litres, then topping up with the same amount via the level-check/dipstick tube? Or is it more complex than that...?! :?

.....have I got in my '09 C5 HDi 138 auto? I was thinking that at 70k miles it might be wise to get the oil in it changed. Its the 6-speed box, but searching on here seems to tell me there are 2 different boxes fitted. :?

Hi all,
I have a 96 NON tubo 1.9 Diesel auto Xantia.
The vehicle is sluggish off a standing start in the extreme. I have always assumed that was the nature of the animal.However as long as one allows for this it is workable.

It should not be that bad!

Firstly, it's impossible to change all the ATF in one go as a few litres always get trapped in the torque converter.

Change three times in quick succession and make 100% sure you have the correct stuff. use only genuine Dexron II mineral oil ion these and absolutely nothing else. Never use...

Well yep, that buzz would certainly drive you mad, that's for sure!
The source of the vibration will be somewhere else, but I agree it could be the bush at the bottom of the shifter that is making it so unbearable (it should damp that kind of vibration out).

took car for oil change today and the garage noticed the nsf headlamp main beam bulb had blown well they said they replace the bulb for £15 i tried to explain you have to take the front bumper off to take the headlight out there like no you dont well it was near closing time so i thought blow i do it myself.does the full bumper have to come off or...

As many will be aware the bottom bolt on the Lucas Rotodiesel is a bit of a pig to get at.... However, by using
a standard 13mm 1/2 Drive Socket
a 3/8 to 1/2 Drive Converter
2x 3/8 extension bars
The ratchet is the perfect length
Key here is the 1/2 to 3/8 Drive...

Hi guys.

I have just bought a second hand Citroen Dispatch 1.9D (2005).
The engine appears to be idling at slightly high revs (there's no rev counter but it sounds higher than I would expect). When I'm driving in a low gear occasionally the engine loses power, then surges and I get a puff of white smoke out the exhaust as it clears.

Does anybody know what the factory specific adjustment procedure is for this linkage bar? Everything I have read online seem to be a bit try it and see and Haynes manual is no use at all. there must be a correct set up procedure for this they used in the factory surely?

I'm after some info about these older synergies - Do the rear sliding doors have a feature which means you have to tug on the handle a couple of times before the doors activate and slide open? I know this sounds ridiculous but the garage seem to think its normal, yet it can be 2, 3, 4 or 5 quick tugs before the doors open which leads me to...

I was planning to do an oil change today and my sump plug is a hex with some sort of recess in the centre. Doing some googling am I right in thinking that it's 21mm? Got tons of sockets but typically none fit :roll: What's the recess for btw?

Does anyone know whether there is a specific relay that engages the full beam lights on a Xantia? I've read in the owners manual that the headlights are on individual fuses under the engine bay fusebox, I figure it is unlikely for both full beam lights to have failed so am I right to think there will be a relay lurking somewhere? I have a 2007 Diesel Berlingo Multispace. For a little while not the clutch has been slipping, but only slightly, and only every now and then. We asked our local garage if the clutch needed to be replaced and they suggested leaving it for a while as it was not causing much of a problem.

Today, the gears seem to have moved position... Reverse...

Hi, i have low mpg problem with my xantia 1.8 8v (101bhp) for some time now. I get around 19 mpg on lpg. Similar consumption when i drive on petrol just bit better mpg. Changed the spark plugs recently, air filter is quite new also. Need some advice for what are the main suspects that can affect the low mpg.

Dear all,

Before heading to citroen garage, just like to find out if there is quick way to fix. I did try to find in this forum but cant find similar problem. I have 2010 C5 that driver climate control knob is stuck at 21.5C. The other side is fine. Please see attached url for photo.

Hi, 2013 Dispatch Combi has just developed a boot locking problem, issue is;

Unlock car with remote -all ok

Go to boot and press open switch, you hear the whirr and click but it doesn't unlock.

Open any of the other doors, side, drivers etc...

Go back to boot and it now opens fine.

Any ideas on this ?

It might be worth looking at the wiring loom plugs in the front doors. If one of the wires in the door plug is weak and partly worn / broken, the onset of colder weather may be enough to accentuate the problem causing intermittent problems.

Hey People,

Quick question, I'm thinking about getting a 10 plate C5 exclusive... I Test Drove it and I rides well, changes smoothly and apparently at least the steering rack doesn't leak... one thing though, it's v slow raising and lowering itself when you push the buttons by the gearbox. How long should an x7 take from lowest to normal height?...

I have no handbrake operation on front o/s. Suspecting the usual cable issues, I took wheel off and console at handbrake.
Cables were a little stiff, but soon got them free and lubed up with a paraffin gun and some putty over cable entry points. Fired fluid right through till exiting the ends. Cables have through movement by hand at each end....

Thanks Dnsey. Mig isn't too bad as it is a cold weld process, although still much heat. Reason I did not do the welding was to keep caliper serviceable for the inevitable exchange thing. At least I know how to get handbrake working when MOT comes up. I may ask around for a plate that has a spline in it.

Anyone know what these numbers mean from the part numbers given for my fifth gear of my old Citroen Xantia 1.9TD 1996 Estate?
I think it's a BE3 gearbox.

(47x35)
(47x31)

Seems Citroen can't figure it out.

There are 47 teeth on the large cog on this fifth gear.
But the 35 or 31, dunno?

Closest dimension is the inner shaft but it's a whole 1mm...

The work was done by my local indy, but I'd decided that, as I want to keep the car for some time, I'd go with genuine replacement parts.

Hi, checking to find out how to remove the dipstick oil tube on the C5HDI 2003 Diesel. Part of the dipstick is stuck in the tube. Because it is lodged in the bent section its hard to remove it. Other than forcing it into the sump and removing the sump I was thinking, how hard is it to remove the tube itself :?: . Any ideas or pictures to describe...

As a matter of interest while the picture is up, note number 5 the dipstick pipe inside the sump, although the dipstick is at the front of the engine it actually dips in the oil at the back, something to think about when you're checking the oil on not so level ground.
