I entirely agree with your opinion on the old style purely mechanical automatics Andrew, used to wind me up terribly as well. These electronic controlled ones are such different beasts.

Interesting news about the recall, wonder what Citroen would say if I turned up and asked them to change my TC as part of the recall. ;)

*low fat so CitroJim friendly

Ummmm :P

Anyone else had a freaky moment like that?

Yes, with my Ford though. I thought I saw a clone coming the other way. Same make, same model (except mine was saloon and this was hatch but I couldn't determine that head-on), same colour and same registration bar one number but again, I didn't see that until another day when I met the driver and owner...

Bad time for the suspension to collapse. That's the concours judge under there..

go on them Mike i will send you my details in a pm

Well Active8, the offical figures from the Citroenian state that 9 Xantias turned up, all bar one or two where the FCF gang :D
76 D series turned up and 11 SMs and many many others making quite a packed field!

Cheers all :D

Split Convoluted tubing is what im after it seems looking at the CPC website and andys link. Always better when you know the name of what you want

I would have gone down the scrappy Dave but no doubt it would be getting frail and at around 50p a meter, its not a bad price. Cheers though!

Stick with Dell's or Lenovos/IBM's they soldier on for years and just need a re-image to speed them back up again. saved a fair few D505's and R40/T40's this way and users are always amazed at how quick the old machines are even alongside my new R400 unit running the same OS and software set :)

You cant beat the ride of a Citroen when all is well and working correctly

So true... I am just so happy with my XM these days. Son has allcando A4 Audi V6 diesel with all the bells & whistles - just so ordinary in comparison, and as for the ride - forget it!
Audi suspension   :^o ](*,) :-({|=

If you can find a decent XM 2.1td estate or saloon in exclusive guise with a bosch pump your onto a winner. they will last ages and you can save yourself a small fortune in fuel as well if your prepared to put a little effort into saving yourself major cash :)

The piccy shows the Lucas kit fitted to my 2.1 Xantia's headlights (when I had it). They virtually cover nearly half the lens and cut down the light considerably, but they do work.

i like this bit
every car is completely stripped down, rebuilt and photographed in the course of making each manual.

OK honest .gov,

its strange how all the BOL's i have seen also the OE manuals and techy bulitins,

most/all of the picys are from the OE litriture,

so thisd brings a new meaning to the term BOL

thats a great write up by Robert, thanks for posting it Derek, i need to tackle both mine with that as an aid

v6 mpg, commuting 60 miles with 20mins in traffic i would get 260 miles to 50 litres. love commuting in them though like Jim says its a room on wheels.

Oooh, yes ! They’re the second most important things after easy starting.
I used to put tap water and Castrol Radiator Corrosion Inhibitor in my previous old bombs with cast iron engines.
The radiator cap kept the pressure in, to prevent the water from simmering and evaporating.

On the Xantia, after...

I am with footman james or lancaster as they recognise that a BX IS a classic and insure it as one so mucho cheapness! (About £120 a car)

wish you many many happy renturnes of the day jim.....

I hope all fortunes comes to you.

hi Jim parts ordered :) 5-10 days .. will keep you posted..

:D

am about right through August pretty much.. dont mind popping :)

And I 'spose you got Clubcard Points as well....

How did you boost the 1.9TD to 110bhp?

Easy, more boost, more fuel.

this must be the alarm siren... I thought at first it was something to do with the airbag..

it's well hidden.. inside the chassis and then behind a lot of plastic

that must hurt or do you get used to it,

even still you must end up with a big bump on your head TEA HE

no Jim as it's a sealed unit (prbably sealed moulded in resin)and no sign water has/could get in, so not sure that's what caused the problem in the first place,
but she's back up and running and it was definatly imoballiser related in one way or another

well all connected up fine :)

I took illumination from the whiteish wire from the dashboard dimmer switch - this is lights-on-live and dimmed with all dash lights - ideal if you fit a gauge / stereo etc :)

turbo is putting 17 Psi out.. leave it alone and make fueling adjustments?

If you turn the fuelling up the boost will go up too...

good stuff Addo, I did 1000 miles 2 weeks ago, generally effortless.. mind i did 500 last week in the coupe, and that was much nicer :)

I wish land was easy to come by here...

I have my eye on an old small wooden barn that is falling down, I think it will hold my fleet.. just working up the courage to knock on the farmers door and offer money ..

Threw mine away years ago when I got my first diesel engined car.

That's just cheating

While I am still dragging my heels at installing Firefox 3.5 on the laptop (Vista) I do have it, kind of, on the desktop (Ubuntu).

I downloaded it a while back the couldn't find it.

Uninstalled Firefox completely but could only find the 3.0 version to install, but did find A Web Browser 3.5 so installed that - which turned out to be Firefox 3.5...

Interesting find there Steve!

No major symptoms, just a bit lazy to react for first 10 minutes, its also the only sphere not been replaced since I've had it and I want to get it 'spot on' in that department. I've not got any contact details for Martin @ pleiades, dropped him a pm yesterday as hoping to get it sorted soon.

Seems they did indeed

:(

But your right diesel in sports car, it aint natural I tells ya.

As you said Toby, cambelt failures, head gasket / oil cooler probs plus other electrical problems - I have also seen a few scabby ones. Having said that I would chance a 2.2 diesel - the v6's are too thirsty for my liking

Hello Jim, :D

Very appropriate birthday card, obviously from a very caring friend.
It’s very common to reach a stage of exhaustion after many years of continuous work.
I’ve had that when I was 49, in 1998, and I’ve made it to 60 since.
The doctors and professors told me it was anxiety.

You would have to be able to do things in a measured and...

Looks like they have the suits by the short, and curlies!

Well in this case PSA will mean Parts Shall (A) Light.

Guy Eyermann, CGT union official and secretary of the company works council, insisted: The gas bottles are in the factory. Everything has been planned for it to blow up.

So, that will avoid the issue of poor wiring!

Don't forget Pegasus Bridge, Bénouville/Ranville nr. Caen (Again if you're into history). Try to do a lunch at the Café there - loved their omelette!

Deauville is very 'Blackpool' and fun if the weather's good. The countryside around Liverot's nice (buy cheese and calvados. Yum).

Your welcome Addo,

Just a note, I looked on both Citroen and Peugeot as I have found that for some things, it is cheaper on one or the other for the same part. Unfortunately not on this occasion.

jgra could you not have used some tow rope and another of your vehicles to pull it from the cliff??

KP never thought of it :D

I did have a pic somewhere, will have a look

Also try this one

Two sons here im afraid and same for my dad who was converted to citroens in the mid 90's with his first BX after having some very poor Meastro's(not turbos, and in red so rust didn't look too bad!)

I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going to go for it. Although the car is free it will need an MOT and tax almost immediately, which will require at least a windscreen at £160. The Xantia is also due an MOT, which I'll have to do if I hope to sell it.

I'll tell you one thing though, whatever car I drive it will never go anywhere near IKEA.

count me in (well not on all your/my fingers), if funds will allow as im avin a couple or so weeks off trying to earn a crust at the mow,

and there might not be so many D's there for me to get back on the horse gently, not that im scared quiver quiver
