Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I wonder how much more desireable (value £) my Xantia 3.0 is now? Since it is a year 2000 and therefore escapes the RFL increase on 2001 gas guzzlers :P

Was thinking the other day that I fancy a 406 or 306, to replace my Xantia, as the Xantia has a genuine 103800miles and most 406/306 TD will have done load of miles my engine and box are mint. Also the Xantia is going to need a lot of money spent on it soon, ABS light on again, clutch on last legs, AC needs gassing, front discs and pad needed...

Just collected the 306 as my son works nights and is in bed. Quite impressed with it. Apart from the glow plug nonsense to start it.
(never had to do that after the first start of the day on the Xantia).

I goes very well. The suspension isn't bad compared to the C5. Goes over speed bumps at 30 almost as though they weren't there.

I am looking for a left hand drive car (and poss. driver) for a scene in a feature film that takes place in a canadian taxi cab. We would require the car for a day's shooting currently set on Sunday 25th May near Stansted.

What a joke (sarc) this is proving to be.

Traffic police use an Automatic Number Plate Recognition system that cries foul if no insurance record is found which is becoming an irritant to many legal drivers. I have even heard stories of women with children being forced to leave their cars where they're stopped and find alternative transport home...

The reason you need a working handbrake on a xantia is when you have an LHM leak, or your multi belt snaps, you have very heavy steering, and loss of your brakes in a very short peroid of time, this may be a warning due to the design of xantias, not sure of other citroens, but I believe they all have the handbrake on the front wheels. I just went to my Activa to get something out of it and found a card under the wiper blade from an outfit offering to take scrap cars away :evil: :twisted: :roll: :shock:

Not only was the Activa targetted for the cards but my 2.1TD and Dad's 205 as well :x

Hi,

My 405 Sti is missing an electric seat motor off the passenger side ( the one that makes it go back/forward ), I used to have some 406 electric seats, but the motors on them were physically bigger.

Anyone know if the Xantia electric seat motors are the same as the 405 motors ?

( or the xm, 806 or 605 etc.. )

Gave my sisters 306 1.9 n/a diesel a service today.All went well.Not been starting too good for a while when cold,so she got some glowplugs too(ecp).Access to 2 on right was ok,the pump plug a bit of a pain as the 1 next to it.As i recall there is a lot more room behind the pump than my Xantia had.Any way,1 snaped undoing the wire retaining...

I apologise if this point has been brought up before, but while chatting to the salesman at the Dealers I was surprised to find out that some of the base models of the new C5 are fitted with conventional rather than wet suspension. (They had one of these beasts in stock so I could check for myself).

Inputting my VIN I get my Xantia listed with a discrepancy or two. According to DVLA and the V5, it was registered 18-08-1998 (R reg) but Citroen say Model Year is 1999. Maybe they count overlapping years a bit like a taxman might?

They also describe the Vehicle Family as Xantia R. What's the R all about?

Additionally, it says Lighting timer...

I've identified a Cartier relay 02009 as the fuel pump relay? Haynes lists the fuel pump relay as item 1200 though I can't see it anywhere on their diagrams. It has terminals numbered 1-5 with 1 & 2 being 12V +ve & -ve while 3, 4 and 5 are unlabelled. Can anyone enlighten me as to what I do have and what the pinouts are? Thank you. :)

That is a huge amount of money!!! :shock: My 1st car was a Astra 1.3 in 1992,a Y reg `83.It cost £508 tpft which i thought was a lot.
Anyway,my stereo is all wired up now.Took a 12v fused feed from the 12v battery straight to the stereo,earthed via the machine,no probsat all.What a plesure it is to R2 & FM again.

Tesco up to a pount a litre now :(

Ideally we may still but it when diesels ten pence more than that but very annoying either way.

Corn oil is now the cheaperst they do.

I just filled up in aldi, 78p a litre still... but for how long??

Those 15litre barrels seem like a good deal now!

Pura is now up to 56p a litre, there is no-where retail where you can buy it for much less than a pound, apart from Lidl. I get mine from Bookers now, it should stay cheap there for a little while longer.

Does anyone know how I can find the auxillary belt on service.citroen? I've explored most diagrams and searched common names but failed miserably.

Now I need to determine the make of A/C compressor.

Look at the label wrapped around the body of the compressor Mike.

If it is more or less all yellow with a green area it'll be a Delphi/Harrisow. Otherwise it'll be a Sanden.

Another way of identifying it is a Sanden is by the pully/clutch face having three threaded holes in a triangluar shape...

From another perspective, you could also check out here as this is mainly newish cars.

Go for the alphabetical reference and look particularly at Nissan Navara, Kia Carnival and anything Ford or Holden (Vauxhall in your language) for a few eyebrow raisers.

Would it be ok to bend the rules? (Jim :wink: ) I'm not saying this engine is non-french (not saying it isn't either 8) ) but I'm looking for hints and tips on tracing an emissions failure as per the UK MOT.

It's a 134Kmiles fuel-injected 2.0 petrol engine with EFI management and it failed on too high CO content. Both MOT testers immediately...

isn't it a sprung plastic switch, a plunger type thing, located where the boot lock hoop comes out of rear valance? I sort of know what I mean,, a very late night :(

I normally back up the FCF and BXC databases around 21:45 every evening, in the belief that a snapshot would be taken and forum performance would not be affected during this operation which takes about 10 or so minutes per forum.

Just popped up the webcam at the entrance to Nurburgring.
I know you guys reckon it's been a bit cold, but brother for this time of year I'd imagine this would have to be a bit radical.

The article isn't particularly new (June 2006) but the technology is interesting and fairly clever (the turbo in particular).

How integrated are the two turbos, i.e. is it one shaft or two?

Is this not news to anybody?

Since the new Database Server has been in operation, I've noticed a few short-duration outages on the ADSL link between the Web Server and the Database Server.

I apologise for the inconvenience this is causing and I'm investigating. At the moment I'm not sure if the modem or my ISP is at fault. Shortly, I'll be replacing the modem as a precaution...

I know/played with the 1.9TD's but not the others.

So 1.9TD, 2.1TD, 2.5TD. What would you say is the best engine?
Are they a similar size (physically)
What sort of power/tourqe does each make?
What is each like to tune? (I know the 1.9TD can be played with,...
