Sourcing wiring loom plastic covers

Post by red_dwarfers »

Im after a few metres of that loom/wire cover stuff found on the Xantia and no doubt every other car. Eg the famous one at the bottom of the radiator which is turned 'the wrong way up' to let water in.
Whats the proper name for it and any ideas where I could source some?

I took a look at the wiring on the tractor a couple of days back with the intent to redo just the cab accessories but after peeling back the miles of flaky insulation tape a lot of wires have been chopped and changed and twisted together with no solder, plastic cracking on some bits and fuses missing where there should be some wired in
When I've sorted it out I'd like to use those covers for a bit of protection and to look nice :D
It's rather suprising how much there is electrics wise on a 70's tractor

Hi Kev,

I believe it's known as "Anaconda"; it's what I know it as anyway  It's used extensively in the electrical industry as flexible conduit.

Most of the big electrical/electronic factors should sell it such as Farnell/CPC.

Also, if you look in such august publications as Practical Classics and Practical Performance Car, you'll find specialist auto electrical suppliers advertising and they'll sell it as it is popular with modifiers and kit car builders.

I've used VWP on many occasions and am very pleased with their service.

Split Convoluted tubing is what im after it seems looking at the CPC website and andys link. Always better when you know the name of what you want

I would have gone down the scrappy Dave but no doubt it would be getting frail and at around 50p a meter, its not a bad price. Cheers though!
