Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

For the second year running, my sons 05 C5 went through MOT with an emissions level of 0.000---fresh air. He has contacted DVLA to ask why he is paying car tax, when other cars, that have a higher emissions, pay naff all.

Obviously a very healthy C5 2.0HDi 16v!

Road tax is based on fuel type and CO2 emissions (g/km), so even though its clean on the MOT test that is a different scale, as road tax is measured by how many grams per km.

Will be interesting to see what the DVLA say though!

I don't really understand how the 2.0 16v HDi has such a high road tax band....

It's been interesting to swap experiences with a friend who runs a rural dealership (non PSA).

In the cities here, cars are written off economically due to a succession of minor knocks or a major shunt. Engines are generally low mileage and good donors when idiocy has killed another motor (ie; running with no coolant). You see too many overall...

Well as you know I have the rare 2.0 engine in my Xantia with 135BHP and a top speed of 126MPH a good driving song is essential! My favourite driving song has to be Meat Loaf - Dead Ringer for Love. I love blasting down the road with that blaring!

It's properly snowing here. We went out earlier as it's dad's birthday but the snow came in during that time. We were met by a lot of snow and thus a gentle 25-30MPH run home.

Absolutely no need to use Total specifically, it's just a marketing arrangement between Citroen and Total. Any oil of the correct spec will be fine and possibly even superior to Total, depending on brand. I use Morris oil and have done in all my Citroens for years with no problems at all. I also use supermarket fuel, again without any problems....

Ok I love the snow and today went out for a few hours driving down countless country lanes. Driving nice and slow not being stupid, car was great xexons really good in the snow, traction control helped out a few times.

Got to laugh... French cars are often derided for poor electrics, but I came across a good one yesterday. My Sister's got a Skoda Octavia with the 1.9 PD engine that has cold start troubles. Looking over the net this is not uncommon, and various things may be at fault - one of which may be the HEADLIGHT switch - apparently these develop a fault...

Afternoon Chaps, Firstly appologies for non french content! but as an avid Frenchy driver i htought i May get away with it! :)
changed the plugs and leads on the good lady's Fiat today, (bravo 1.2 16v) cars been missing badly lately, - always misses but only slight when under load, pulled the plugs out and they were all a colour ive not seen...

chaps, I need a bit of guidance here..

I have replaced a strut upper bearing on a psa (206).. taking the strut out, I decided to break the outer bottom ball joint, to allow the hub to go low enough to get the strut out..

refitted all and I cannot for the life of me get the hub up enough, and the lower arm low enough, for engagement.. :evil: cost...

a clear head in the morning sorted it all out quickly..

nah, the lower arm on this is a one piece item, the outer swivel is aprt of the arm..

Having done some further digging on the subject it appears that the tuning box/loom modification issue came about from new EU regulations stating that such things are now outlawed (as is already the case in Germany), it appears that when the new MOT regs were being compiled it was assumed that this would form part of the new test but didn't turn...

There's a chap who seems to have put many, many old CAR, MOTOR and Autocar magazine road tests up on Flickr.. while trawling through them today, I came across this. I remember reading it in CAR itself back in the 80s when I was at school! It might be of interest to some of our younger members...

Cup holders are usless in Big Citroëns, that is if they exist at all.
I must say that the cup holders are excellent in the C6.

They have almost German cupholders that flip out of the dash. They are neat and effective and I had forgotten about them! No doubt the C5III has a similar thing.

slight dilema chaps..

I am moving.. for the third time this year. :evil: . I have gone for somewhere I can ill afford, (although i have paid a deposit, i can still get out of that..) but.. the new place has a garage, which is pretty important.. It also has a possible off-road space as well, but that will make the garage harder to use (car blocks...

These diesel cars seem to be so good on paper.
Renault/ Nissan engines with 150bhp from a 2litre :shock:

I plonked a bid on steering gear for my trucklet, in the last few seconds of an auction today. Cut it so fine, the automatic email asking if I wanted to up my bid, was generated after the auction closed... :shock: :lol: $200 for a 4WD live axle Hilux PAS steering box is not bad going - assuming it's not off the Top Gear truck.
