Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I confess to being somewhat the anorak with this stuff. Having bits posted from overseas frequently, I love to not only follow the carrier's tracking updates but also (when it can be deduced) the flights as well.

There's something soothing yet exciting, about watching a little graphic of a plane moving along the dotted flight path, more or less...

Agree with all you say about phones, I use a Nokia 830, here drive + maps downloaded so no data use with traffic off, have used it in UK, Europe, USA and bits of Canada all 'for free' as it were. But my wife not keen, really wants a satnav that does 'one thing well' always in the car, no worries about data or settings etc.

whats the best way to store/keep all your photos once free drop box comes to a close,

i have heard people having problems accessing there files once there free drop box comes to an end,
they sent me an email stating my free account was ending in June,
and invited me to pay for there service,

i do like drop box but dont want to pay £7 odd a month...

I'm wondering if it's realistic to have both my Xantiae on the road. Estate as a work maul and hatchback as the nice clean one. There appears to be little logic in premiums, the cheapest car to insure in my collection (apart from the DS - classic policy) is my Merc which cost £120k new and has a top speed limited @ 186 mph, work that out!

My four everyday cars are insured with Admiral Multicar though as mentioned with every renewal I invariably have to question the quoted...

OK, finally getting naffed off with the standard car radio, loosing stations, hiss, stuff plugged into glove box (crap) Citroen adapter etc etc.

My needs are FEW, Bluetooth for the phone, USB and Aux in would be good. I am not bothered about the cars screen loosing radio info etc,. I hardly change stations anyway sticking to 3/4 standard ones....

We all know and love the 35mm front hub nut - I have a socket for this and have used it on a variety of PSA cars. This weekend I had to look at the rear brakes on the 307 as they were catching when they heated up. Plenty of pad left, just a build up of rust on the edge of the disc catching the caliper when it expanded. On...

Still got my 3/4 drive 36mm socket from my (original) VW Beetle days, you need it for the rear hubs. Can't remember the last time I used it but, rule No 1 NEVER let a tool go, you never know when it may come in. What a surprise !

HARTWELLS Bath...........Car has the top-end Dealer Extended Warranty....MOT Cover....Recovery etc

Car has a main HP pump failure on Wed last
Car delivered to them 8am, call from recovery agent to tell me.....Thursday late afternoon....I call to check it arrived OK as I had ZERO contact all day from them.

They do not check it...

There was a S1 with the aux on there for a while for something daft like £34. I would get a nice bluetooth one, get the wheel controls working and have a surround with the flap so you don't have to look at it!

Reason being

Just viewed this one, bit of corrosion on the crossmember under the radiator unlikely to stand up to an over zealous MOT Tester's tool, but otherwise in good nick bodywork wise. Little hint of a bit of oil drippage, but not much to worry about.

Then I had a look at Honest John for the particular vintage 1997-2002 only listed one...

A C5 with a Pop-Up Gazebo (with sides) to back up into ?....worked a good few times for me +1, warm as well (just take a radio as the car goes into Sleep mode and really DOES NOT like its battery drained) and really easy to pack up quick.

Thanks Steve! I should have shown you it on Sunday if I'd thought about it as it was hidden behind the tents!

It hasn't got the tool for loosening the end caps, I've done that before with a pair of stilsons though :)

i know its not french,

i had a customer come to see me asking if i knew what is involved in sorting fault/code P2203,
on doing a goooogly search it comes up with NOx Sensor Circuit High Input (Bank 1) ,

there are people on the internet saying the Nox sensor is dealer only at a cost of between £300 and 400 squid,

anyone had experience and know...

I've just found a video about the AL4 box on ebay going into a lot of detail about how it works, but the narration is in french? Can anyone translate?

Its well before my time but was the name of the tax changed from 'road tax' or similar to 'vehicle excise duty' as there was some kind of legal challenge (possibly in the 50's/60's ?) to the fact that said tax was not being spent on the roads generally...

FCS has always been the mainstay of hot french hatches really. lots and lots and lots of 17/182's, Saxos, 106's, the usual meganes and suchlike. don't think theres many big french cars there, besides possibly a few 406's. the Xantia will fit right in on low ;)

You contact the Tax man to record the Import and get a Zero Rate VAT number for the Car, done on-line with personal assistance of the help line staff..gj
Contact DVLA and on-line staff to order and assist in the correct form, and advise how to fill it...

All of the hassle you're going through was widely predicted when our wonderful government closed all the local DVLA offices and made the staff redundant leaving those still doing the job overloaded with work and feeling rather fed up having so brooms inserted into places they weren't designed to go. I wouldn't! On the way back from kent late last year we were passed by a sporty car, we were sat at 70 so he was easily doing over that. 10 minutes later, just before the booths, was a copper having pulled over said car!!

Change an instrument face Xantia, standard PSA I think.

Open the Pod, you can find guides on the forum, remove the rubber from the trip button, remove the glass with the shroud to gain access to the units.
Two spoons and some tissue, it just leavers off.
Use a a wide thin blade and work slow to remove the clock face, a hair dryer helps to warm...

I want to change the filter on the back of my dials to the outline filter that was fitted to the later S2's so only the outline of the icon lights up rather then the actual square lighting up with a square symbol in it. Not brave enough to do it yet though.

In saying that, I've got the spare dials to tear apart so might be worth a go rather then...
