Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Aicon inhibited by injection ECU?

The aircon on my facelift C5 2.0 hdi has suddenly stopped working - the clutch does not seem to be engaging.
A Lexia session reveals no errors as such, but the injection ECU appears to be issuing an inhibit command to the aircon. Any ideas why it might do that under normal running conditions?
I've dine a BSI reset to eliminate any random glitches,...

On the motorway trip, the aircon was working well. Too well in fact. The outside temp gauge was showing a bracing 11 Celcius yet, despite setting the climate control to 21 Celsius, the aircon was belting out vast quantities of icy cold air. I need to this as one of my relatives 307 sw 2008 stinks horribly. I tried to change the pollen filter no help at all.

Does anyone know a way of cleaning this without the whole dash out?

I've head that a Dettol spray does the trick - not standard Dettol but the clear kitchen cleaner stuff.

Simple question. Where on earth are the HP and LP service valves on this car? Most I've seen have them somewhere pretty obvious, but they seem pretty well hidden on the Xantia.

Think I see one on a line just behind the compressor, but not sure at a glance which one it is, nor where the other is.

I've got a set of pressure gauges floating around...

Ah, they are both hiding down there are they? Spotted one but couldn't see the other. Will have a crawl around tomorrow if we're not buried under six feet of snow! Be useful to know which are the high and low pressure lines, though I imagine it's pretty obvious which is the liquid and gas line based on the pipe diameter anyway.

Hi folks,
Can anyone tell me where I can find the A/C cut-off control unit on my '99 Peugeot 1.9 D? ( 30 on diagram 3 Haynes). The problem I have is that the rev meter operates intermittently and the A/C only functions when the rev meter is on so am looking for a common between them. I am guessing a dry/bad connection to -ve,

I had my aircon regassed about a fortnight ago and had lovely ice cold air con. However, today, my air con is no longer icy. It's just as though there is no aircon at all.

It s a Citroen C8 HDI, 2007 with digital climate control (also has the Navidrive system). I have tried it on 'auto' and also with just the aircon set on the lowest temperature...

I'm new to Citreons and the forum having just bought a 2001 Xantia estate that drives beautifully apart from that the heater/aircon doesn't work at all. In this hot weather, the car is BAKING HOT! Nope, the rear window heater works fine. It has been mentioned that the control module needs replacing but when I remove the passenger footwell trim, it looks packed with stuff and access almost impossible. Are there any other cures?

Xsara II - Aircon won't start.

Hello!

I just bought an Xsara II -01 and the air con won't start. I have had it regased and pressure checked.

When I press A/C-Button it will light up but the clutch won't kick in and the cooling fan won't start on low speed.
When regased they also did a quick diagnostic and they said that the system had been approved to start.

I know we most wouldn't darken their door, but Halfords are currently doing 3 for 2 on AC products. Just ordered 2 cans of refrigerant, and a dispensing hose / gauge - and essentially got the hose (£20) free.

C4 Picasso could do with a refill, and the AC doesn't work on the 307 - I want to see if there is any pressure at all left in it.

I think all AC systems will cut out on modern cars when Wide Open Throttle is detected but thats not the case on this one and see as there is pressure in the system an the engine was just idling i couldn't think what else it could be. Also the clutch part spins freely so getting him to short and test if it does click in is the important bit now....

One here for the puzzle enthusiasts...
No interior fan or engine cooling fans working. Battery removed to check everything behind it. Replaced battery, interior fan and aircon light on switch were working! Great! Turn key.. no starter.
A week later... discovered that the connector through the inner wing was not locked on, but locked out......

Thank you very much for your help so far! I have sort of redefined the problem now... no power is getting to the blower at all, and it is very probable that the aircon control derives its power from the same source. Verifying that will take a wiring diagram! Now, if I can find one of them...

condenser removal

Hi . I've just removed the A/C condenser from my C5 as it was holed . I intend to replace it later but until then I will seal the ends of the pipes . Now for the question. would it help to seal one of the pipes in a plastic bag of silica gel to absorb any damp. Regards John.

I would use a poly bag with a couple of packets of silica gel, so you don't end up with gel in the pipework. I would do it on both pipes.

Condenser seals

My Picasso needs a new aircon condenser. I've sorted out an online part supplier for this but it comes without seals. It says these are manufacturer specific.
On the Service Citroen site they are shown as 6460AZ and 6460AY at about £6 - £8 each. Now I don't want to spoil the ship for a ha' porth of tar but these seem expensive for what seems to be...

Just to complete this thread I ended up getting two new seals as one of the old ones was slightly damaged removing it. The new ones were not a stock item so had to wait 3 days. On comparing new and old, I probably could have re-used them as damage was not on the bit that forms the seal. Suprisingly they came without the plastic spigot bushes which...

The A/C will run, for about 8 minutes, only from a cold start. I've pulled the frost thermistor out, so that it never goes cold. I've also bypassed the HP and LP switch, mainly to prove a point. and still the A/C will only run for about 8 minutes, then cut out never to operate again until you leave the car for a few...

Hi Folks,

After a number of other jobs on the Scenic it was time to tackle the A/C system. Out came the Ariazone a few weekends ago to check for any system pressure, the A/C had never worked since buying the car so I was expecting the worst, busted condenser or cracked joint.

Drawing a deep vacuum on the A/C system showed no sign of leaks even...

Hi guys. My 2.2 VTR with climate control has a number of interesting foibles, which I'm now trying to track down and fix. One of the more important ones is that when the aircon is on, the rad fans sometimes switch into high speed. I believe it is supposed to be low speed until a combination of aircon pressure, temperature etc. tells it otherwise...

A bit late for a reply but others might like to know that by super glueing a spacer, washer and nut to the appropriate sides of the upper offside lug on the sump and a spacer, washer and nut to the upper nearside lug of the pump, the pump can be assembled to the car fairly easily. I found that raising the pump on a jack helps if your on your own....

Hi guys. After much thought I've bought a second hand compressor. In the end I couldn't afford a new one and this way I'll have the original compressor to look at and possibly recondition myself. The bloke said I can change it if it's wrong and there's a 2 month warranty.

Of course the sticker on the original compressor has long gone so I can't...

Having compared where the pipes joined it looked ok. Took it to the air con guy in the end, couldn't be bothered going back and forth getting the gas empted and refilled, and it's now working lovely.

Does having the air con on normally make the engine a lot hotter? Got upto 100 just now with both rad fans going. Normally she runs around 80 - 90,...

Hi guys. The air con on Fred has a leak. The German mechanic who re-gassed it for me won't use the leak seal stuff. So I'm looking for a new air con compressor, either recon or maybe new. Once I have a new one can I change it myself? It's not the spannering it's the chemicals I'm wondering about. Of course there won't be much gas left but I don't...

in the UK there are company's doing a mobile air con service
all you need to do is arrange them to come and evacuate the system then re/gas once you have fitted the compressor

But wouldn't the Chunnel charges put paid to any savings? :P

At 300 quid, that's actually not too bad for a new compressor. I had to have the one done on my Ford Taurus...

Hi all, my aircon has not been working at all so got it all re-gassed last week the system now starts up the clutch on the compressor kicks in and the fan on the radiator starts…………….. But then after around 30 second the fan will stop running and the temp readout will read full temp and a buzzer sounds and the aircon turns off it will not start up...

Thanks for the reply's, the system is working fine now! Been using it when on fast roads (above 60 worked fine) forgot to turn it off after a long run and no fault showed up so no drama's and its happy days :D (in fact it was 4 days ago lol)

There have been two occasions recently when the temperature here in Surrey, UK, rose to the high 20s. On both days the aircon in our Fiat Ulysse (A C8 / Peugeot 807 under the skin) stopped working. Otherwise it works beautifully on cooler days. Is there a sensor I don't know about?

Can anyone out there tell me where I can find the 'Passenger compartment electronic thermostat' shown as 167 in the Haynes manual? Am I also correct in saying that the air blower should be in at least position 1 for the air con to work. Recon compressor?

H guys. I'm looking for a replacement compressor for my Xantia. The new ones are far to expensive and the second hand ones not tested, so I'd like a recon one. But I have tried several places on the net and they no longer have them. I guess that Fred is just too old! Anyone know of someone who might have one?

Here's hoping someone can help me with this one. My '99 Peugeot 206 1.9D's air con does not work. Took car to Kwick Fit who said that they found a low refrigerant level in the system. They topped it up, but could not get it to work so they kindly didn't charge me. This is what I have at the moment: green light comes on when the a.c switch is made...

C5 II air con pipe supplier

Hi there.
I had my air con degassed and a new condensor fitted (C5 II 2.0HDI) but the lowest pipe, which couples to the front of the condensor unit, had rotted on totally and snapped off when removed.

It seems as though I shall have to replace the pipe but it is one that runs from the bottom of the condensor, along the driver's side inner wing...

The aircon is the newer type with the automatic fan speed control.
Two years ago I started having problems with my aircon.
It has been to 9 different garages, 4 citroen, 4 aircon specialists and 1 electrician.

Light on dash comes on with a press of the button but no compressor turning and no fans running. Took car for re-gas but they have told me it is full of gas. Any ideas? Looks like all fuses in drivers side fuse compartment are all ok.

Is there another fuse to run the compressor?

Hi gazzas c5, i guess it was working then stopped? could it be that it needs re charge. and the switch will only illuminate when it's got enough refrigerant.

Mine produces a lot of condensate, and it's well-serviced. The Xantia AC drain spigot is in the passenger footwell, it passes out the firewall sort of above the anti-roll bar clamp into a rubber elbow. Near the hydraulic pressure drop detector on RHD cars.

I've seen the elbow poorly fitted from factory, causing it to not drain properly.

Hi all, had system recharged about two weeks ago,then noticed dripping at front of car thought it was oil leak
but it was not it was ac with yellow dye.anyway found where leak was coming from there is a connection on bottom left of
condenser. tried to nip it up but there was not play in 10 mm bolt so run ac again and leak stopped ,ac still...

Can somebody tell me the difference between these delphi compressors.

No 1135290 and No 1135463.

It would appear my compressor is leaking from the drive shaft seal.

Any thoughts.

Hi All,

I've been talking to the tec's at Delphi and the only difference between the 2 pumps is the size of the pulley.

119mm v 121mm which I think means they are interchangeable.

I would have 1 reservation which is check the a/c pipe connection is the same before hand.

What are the practicalities of fitting air conditioning to my 1973 Peugeot 504? It's a GL automatic. Some sold into hot climates were so equipped, and there's plenty of space in the engine bay.

I've no mechanical skills, so is there a firm that would undertake this work, and what is it likely to cost? I'm in Poole, Dorset.

If there was no variant at the time with an air con dash , then an underdash unit would be the go - look for a Mark IV in serviceable nick but don't pay a fortune. Try Oz, NZ and RSA for this. New TX, modern compressor, make up the rest as suits. Vintage Air in California have a new underdash unit at an aceptable sum ($300 plus carriage), also....

Help Needed ! 2005 407 AC cutoff by itself problem

The ride is a 2005 407 2.0 petrol.

Lately the ac has been cutting out by itself while driving i.e. the internal blower fan will just died suddenly. Sometimes it will go on running back again after few secs but sometimes it just died. Stopping the car with ignition off & starting again sometimes help, but sometimes won't until the next day......

The problem is really the blower unit itself as told, after they perform the actuator test ?? on the blower, there seems to be a drag to the blower :roll:

The only reference I've seen was a secondhand document saying that 60% of the R12 charge weight for initial charging with R134a, was a good starting point.
