Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Crikey, that stuff sounds as if it's stronger than my industrial strength coffee!

Yours and mine both... In fact this thread has given me a thought, if my bottom hose stub does turn out to be cracked I may use it for that temporarily. It's that solid I'd trust it in that application.

I would assume so, if you have a button to deactivate it, there should be a light on or near the switch that comes on when you press it. When it re-enables, the light should go out indicating the system is active again. In either case it should revert to the active default once the ignition is switched off.

Hi i posted up about my c3 2002 loosing charge a while ago and still got the issue.

We were replacing the ball bearings on my Xantia, because they were making noise. While we were down there, we decided to clean the ABS ring (if that's its name) around the shaft, because it was so rusty.

Hello everyone,

today I made an oil service on my Citroen C5 (X7 HDI 165, 2011) an when I pulled out the oil level indicator to check the oil level, I noticed that the tip of the indicator broke off.

Pretty much the whole indicator reading broke off (so about 2cm length missing). Its made of an orange plastic.

Is there an easy way to remove it...

Hey there,

I have a Citroen C5 HDI165 (X7 from 2011) and just replaced the air filter.

In a few days I want to replace oil + oil filter. How ever, I just tried to fit some of my wrenches / nuts on the on the oil-filter-cap and it feels like nothing fits perfect ?!
Is it a middle-size or any special size ? Or did I simply not put the nut/wrench...

Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of the box next to the spare wheel. My earlier car (2001) did not have this and the towbar wiring has been scotchlocked directly into the wiring loom with a TEB7AS relay. Can I repeat this (with soldered wires) and ignore the box?

Hi,just got a indicator lens ( the one on the wing) off ebay. My S1 Xantia, the same indicator lens slides on to lock it in posistion. I dont see how this seems to fit to the S2 car ? do you glue it on ? :oops:

After some advice re C5 Mk1 driveshafts please :-

Car in question is a Mk1 2.2HDI (DW12TED4) estate with the ZF 4HP20 auto gearbox and I am in need of a RH driveshaft as I'm 99% certain the inner joint is on its last legs. Sounds simple enough - but no 2 parts shops seem able to agree on which one I need as the auto and manual...

I'm trying to nail a cause of something like an airlock in the water system. That's right - from time to time, I develop a fault with engine warning light, and a gruff tickover with reduced revs. I solve this by massaging the top hose. Symptoms then dissapear for a few hundred miles perhaps, or a few weeks.

My '53 plate C5 estate has just failed its MOT for (among other things - all fixable, I think) power steering fluid leak from the feed pipe (part number 4014EV) . Citroen list the part as no longer stocked . There's a surprise.

Tried BartEbben but no luck.

Anyone have a good solution?

Or is it now a scrap car - with only 64K miles on the clock!...

The 1999 2.0 HDi (90,000 miles) started making a knocking noise at tickover. Tried the stethoscope and it seemed to inidicate a vibrating alternator. Consulted a few people and got various suggestions ranging from scrap it to replace the crank pulley . The latter sounded more acceptable, so now the Xantia's on stands in the garage and the crank...

My citroen C5 x7 has developed a charging fault - dashboard alarm states; Battery supply or electrical charging fault and the battery symbol stays up on the instrument panel. These are not buffered with relays so eventually the switch wears out. No heater blower and no air-con is usually the switch. Replacement switches can be obtained online from Poland...

I'm removing the upper part of the dash on the above prior to scrapping it. Bin lids are off, as are the plastic strips and speakers against the side and front windows.

Question is does the information binnacle (clocks in my language) have to come out first in order to separate it from the lower part of the dash?

Hi, so i got this Xantia 1.9td, from 1996, and when it gets to around 2k/3k rpm (depends on the gear) it starts to vibrate wildly, and when i say vibrate,
it's more like the whole car vibrates, the seats, pedals steering wheel, everything vibrates and the car continues to pull as normal, no lack of power at all.

oh yeah, its the disconnect point in the hydraulic clutch line.

Not quite as they are impossible to disconnect :lol:

I've tried many times and even tried to make special tools to assist the separation but every attempt has ben an epic fail...

well I just thought I'd ask has anyone had adaptations done to their C5?
especially in clutch or throttle and brake control.

I don't want to get to deep into the illness side of things and concentrate more on the costs of getting
adaptations done on a private basis to a car you already own.

Ive found a company in Kent Vehvac that will fit a Duck clutch for £1650 minus the vat apparently disability adaptations are vat exempt.
The Duck Clutch being the lever on the gear stick that when depressed pulls the clutch pedal down for you then releases it.

So far so good with the new car - it feels far more 'modern' than the Mark 1. Being an Exclusive it has all the toys fitted, though it appears that Citroen weren't early adopters of Bluetooth technology.
This means the mobile phone element of the Navidrive is more ornament than use but I can live with that :-)

Hi all now that Old Katy has breezed the MOT test with only a tyre needed I'm pressed with more trivial matters...

I've been plagued with a kind of rattling/ tapping that is felt (more than heard) through the pedals. It occurs at low speed such as car parks an almost always caused where there's a sharp deflection of one of the front wheels...

got a wierd one, 2009 c5 2.2 diesel saloon 62k on clock, when ticking over when warm smoke coming from back of engine like some things dripping on exhaust and burning, then in last few day started to cut out on tickover and tickover roughly, drives spot on no power loss etc, any ideas where to start looking, thinking egr ? If it's like the 2.0 in layout, there's a crankcase breather which runs across the top back of the engine, and which can become brittle. If it spit, it would produce the symptoms you describe, as there would be an air leak after the MAF sensor etc, and the condensing oil mist from the breather would drip onto the exhaust manifold.

2. Jack up, place chassis stands under rear set of front subframe bolts

The plastic end has broken off the dipstick.

Just done a oil change, how easy is it to remove sump and retrieve broken part ?

As I could remove oil, remove sump, recover broken part and re fit sump with gasket sealant.

Suggestions please ?

Hi all. I have my 2008 C5 with a AM6 gearbox for 6 mounths now and it`s great i love it :D but quite for a while now the auto gearbox have a strange behavior. The thing is that after i whait for a while at a trafic light in Drive when i lift the brake pedal the car moves as normal but immediatley the is a kick as the car gain speed without presing...

On mine AM6 didn't work as it should even when driving (or accelerating) with cruise control on, without touching gas pedal. So it's still possible that it's faulty.
