Fuel sender locking ring

Unread post by KennyW »

Hi All,

Looking for any tips or suggestions on refitting ring as it keeps jumping off the thread.

No obvious damage to ring or tank.

I do have new ring and seal on route with 2nd spare ring available.

Hi Kenny

Screw it anticlockwise first whilst pressing down fairly firm until it clicks and then screw on clockwise as normal

I had a right mare with mine recently and actually thought I'd cross-threaded it somehow. The plastic thread is too coarse to cross-thread IMHO.

Stick with it! Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

Assuming its the Xantia then i found an extra pair of hands really helped when i did mine. Have the other person so push down on the pump itself and you then have 2 hands and eyes to focus on the seal and the ring itself.
In days gone by i would have been happy to supply you my helper but it seems Sons now think they have rights etc etc :)

It's the C5 X 7 but The set up is very similar.

My son has decided to work in Leamington Spa, but fortunately I've got a good neighbour.

Ring fitted and sender all connected.

Roger's tip certainly helped and aligned the ring up correctly.

Thanks Roger,

No problem Kenny.

Glad it was of assistance even though I just assumed it was a Xantia because of your profile photo...
