Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I am looking at this failed pipe, as I said in an earlier post, someone's replacement of metal pipe in inner-wing has disturbed rubber pipe attachnent and subsequent pipe detachment/blowout.

Does the required replacement rubber piece - 00004023G4 HYDRAULIC TUBE (thanks RichardW) come with the attached metal pipes machined to it or does...

My 2003 C5 2.2 HDI has clocked up 80K & pads need replacing on front,But I noticed the discs have quite a ridge round the edge. Can any one tell me what the disc min thickness should be??
incidently thes pads have been on the car for 38k at least .I bought it with 42k on it

As you know, my Xantia needs new front brake pads, so I was wondering what the best ones to get would be. I am very tempted to buy these

Would they be good for the Xantia and what would the benefits be compared to a cheap set like these ?

Also would I be better going to my Citroén dealership and getting proper ones ? If so how much would they...

I did, they were all fine. When I took the wheels off though I noticed the disks were BADLY scored and had a lip. Looks like either those old pads were left on for too long, or the previous owner used the previous pads till they were metal-on-metal.

Either way replaced the disks then put pads on. Brake light went out right away and it brakes...

This is a LWB high top (1800) 2003 model.
Ive done so much work on this and it still wont start.
reconned head, only to cause hole in block where turbo oil pickup is
So i fitted a replacement engine
I then had the dreaded immobiliser key lamp,
I got a replacement ecu also immobiliser module,and the code vial that sits in the key,
These in combo...

hi guys,

I have a citroen birlingo 2005 changed the rear brake cylinde(rear left) for it and the brake pedal just went down like the brake master is gone.
hade a new brake master cylinder put on but still the same their is no pressure while bleadin on the front right wheel and rear left at all .
the pedal goes right on the floor.

Just lost all my LHM when A pipe disonnected. I was turning left when I heard a loud bang and instantly the steering became heavy, The LHM was all over the road leaking from the front nearside of the car. Can anyone help with a part number please.

The front O/S ABS sensor on my X reg (2000) Xantia 1.8i, 16 valve hatch has given up. GSF want £62.50 for a replacement but I have seen some on fleabay for around £25 - just need to make sure the part No.s match.

I bought one of the sensors from the German seller ( ) and it appears to be identical in every respect to the one it has replaced - took a little while to arrive though.

just had my front pads & disces replaced but pedal feels soft/spongy & pedal sinks to floor if heavy pressure held on it

I have a loud knocking noise from the rear end of my MRS's C3. I got it up on a ramp and found out what them problem is... but I dont know where to get the replacement part from as Citroen UK cannot get one for me. The part I'm after is on bolted to the rear subframe, kind of like a large cylinder, say a good 200mm long or more in...

I cant think that you would notice any difference if you just ripped the metal outer part off ?? i know what i would be doing if it was me. Either that or try filling it with silicone sealant.

Hopefully will be in France in two weeks, but just noticed damp on radiator on RH side viewing from front. When fan on water drops being blown through. Should be ample time to fit new radiator around work.

Looking on GSF there are RP numbers which I'm not familiar with.

Does anyone buy their TD filters in bulk? I've had a look on ebay but can only find singles? I could shoot each seller a message asking if the do bulk buys at a discount but thought I'd ask here first for recommendations.

That's what I was about to suggest too.

The dealers themselves sometimes used to offer (oil) filters cheaper if you bulk brought them, although I think that may have been restricted to the taxi trade. Not sure.

Certainly it used to apply a few years ago to some Peugeot dealers, for bulk selling of the N2 filter (the pre 98 one)

My rear suspension drops when left parked. Have had car with mechanic who a. confirms that there is no leaking fluid. b. advised that car needs to go to citroen to be put on Lexia. Mate has Lexia connected and shows no faults, hence advises that fault is mechanical not electrical.

Any ideas please. Suspension works on adjuster buttons between...

Have you checked the return lines from the rear rams? If there is a leak past the seal you won't see it as it is collected by the rear gaiters and pumped back to the reservoir.

On our Xantia HDi Exclusive the heater just stopped working last night.

Started the car, the heater worked for a moment then stopped.

Now it's completely dead and refuses to do anything at any speed setting on the slider.

Is there anything that's worth checking first?

I assume you mean the single wire that goes piggy backed to the negative?
It strangely comes from a thin pinkish wire and has a single connector before it changes to black and goes to the negative of the motor?

If so, I just tried that and had no luck.

In the last 2 weeks the Xantia has had a problem of slotting into Reverse but when you try to move it just grinds and won't go anywhere, take it out and really yank it in and it works! Is it a badly lubricated gearbox or a loose shifter linkage causing it to apparently slot in but not fully engage ?

You shouldn't get very much wear on a diesel clutch driving in traffic as you don't need to rev the engine to pull away, there is ver little slip at tickover, I can understand though the preference for an auto if you continually drive in traffic.

One of my colleagues has a late Saxo 1.6 AUto which has a blown head gasket. the car has low mileage (circa 38k) and is otherwise in good condition.

what is involved in repairing a HGF, is it a DIY-able job and if not, what would be a reasonable price for a gargae to do the job?

Im useually quite ok at solving problems, but I have a small issue with my Xantia, Car is my daily, 1.9 XUD9te, Turbo D, with 233k... Never touched any internals, just the useual cam belt and water pump when needed...

However, after a recent Injection pump replacment due to a shaft leak, Ive noticed a bit of exhaust smoke, but not so...

I had a look under the bonnet of my Xantia (1999, 1.8) and can only find the expansion tank, LHM black box bit, and the washer bottle....where is the fluid reservoir for topping up and checking the power steering fluid?

The car is a 1998 Citroén Xantia 2.0 EXCLUSIVE. Does it have a brake pad light ? So when the pads get worn it will alert me to get them changed. As there is a soft rubbing sound coming from the front wheels when I brake (due to worn pads I suspect).

Looking at my auto adjusting clutch cable this morning as my pedal has started getting harder the last few months. I know for a fact that it can't be the clutch as it was replaced last year all with pukka Citroen branded bits.

The cable itself isn't seized as if I unclip it from the 'box it slides lovely. I've taken the cable off back to the...

I bought a 2003 C5HDI estate, because of its big boot!

Hi all i am new to your fine forum !
I have had my 1999 xantia exclusive HDI a few months now which i think is great but a bit of a money pit !
What i want to know about is the suspension
How long should the car take to rise in the morning ? i wait about a minute or so ?
Also when i am driving the xantia,say i stop sometimes the rear of the car...

cheers for that answer, as i said earlier i had 3 spheres changed on the rear, the invoice says 2x rear (the pair off the wheels) & accumilator. i know there is still one old one left on the rear i will look tomorrow and see which was nt changed

Does anyone know which wires have to be joined together to fit a Sony radio into a year 2000 1.6 Xsara? The radio is a CDX-GT180' but I would assume they are all the same. I found a converter on Englands EBay but the fellow does not want to reply!!!

Hi, I tried to change my diesel filter today but the new one is different. The original has a connector with two terminals fitted to the top cover next to the pipe and the other pipe end just below the top one at 90 degrees. The new one is missing this connector and the lower fuel connection is a socket not a pipe end . the new one is a MAHLE KL...

Is it a 1.6 HDi? service.citroen shows the sqaure type for this engine - and no separate element is listed :? Seems like a retrograde step to me, but not for Citroen I guess, as then they can knock out new filters at £50 rather than a filter element at £5 :twisted:

Note that the filters fitted to cars with and without a FAP are different,...

Finally got the bluetooth fitted but it stays active after the ignition has been switched off for about 2 mins. I have tried reversing the positives to no avail. Has anyone fitted or has been able to overcome the problem. It also goes live when unlocking the car and even when I accidently blasted the horn when cleaning the car out! Any ideas?

I started the car up earlier to go out to the doctors, and while I was reversing out of my drive-way the wind was blowing in the other direction and blew lots of white smoke round the sides of the car from the exhaust. I checked when I got to the doctors and right enough there is a stream of white smoke coming out the exhaust.

My C52.2 HDI Est 2002 has sprung a leak. Pot hole prime suspect. Can anyone tell me which oil is leaking? I think it is hydraulics/suspension based as raising the suspension from the internal switch or via the boot switch causes more oil to leak. Could be gravity though. I have two photos of source of the leak if anyone cares to take a look...

As above have a xantia HDI 110 the other day whilst driving i felt the rear becoming harder and bouncier.

When i parked up i noticed that the rear was set fully down as if i had lowered it.

I have noticed the stop light along with the brake style light stays light for a few seconds once started but does go out.

the rear wont rise at all not...

The plastic clutch cable clip has just gone on my xantia. I've ordered a new cable and plastic and metal clips to replace them some time this weekend.

I've done this before on a '93 TD and remember there was a lot of swearing despite taking the drivers seat out so i could get in the foot well on my back to reach up to the top of the pedal.

I've just had a phone call from Ellie, sat in a sulking 2cv in a lane somewhere near Dorchester.

One driveshaft has done a runner from the gearbox, one bolt findable, and the inner joint on the shaft is not sounding healthy.

Can anybody think of a local 2cver or 2cv specialist who can help? I reckon the quickest and easiest solution is going to...

what did happen serveral times just after turnning tight one direction only, when straightening out the dersh would shake violantly from side to side,
i recon one of the teliscopic drive shafts were sticking and i found stopping sudenly would sort it,

Recently bought a 56 plate 1.6 HDI C5 with 90k miles on the clock and sometimes get a problem with 'Hesitation' for want of a better word.

The car will loose power for about half a second and then back to normal.
This has happened about 6 times over a month / 1000 miles.

Seems to happen at no particular time. I has happened when gently driving...

If your getting a MAF for it only buy a genuine Citroen unit, aftermarket units are not alsways as good.

I had one on a 2.0HDi C5, brand new aftermarket but the car just would not perform, very slow and using lots of fuel. I got a new genuine MAF and it restored the car back to how it should have been.

Well we had a great time - Much fun was had though
Oh and my 2CV got there, the 20 or so miles running around the local area and back home without a single problem which is a good - round trip of approx 260 miles / £30 of fuel.

Iv found a 96 Xantia that was stored in a garage for 4 years with an original 41,000 on the clock \:D/

Only problem is the colour is disgusting :roll: Its like a maroony/purple

So i want to get the whole car re-sprayed

Does anyone have a ball park figure as to what the cost would be :?:

I've taken the lower trim off to no avail. Mr Haynes describes removing the upper plastic trim, which incidentally covers the wiper motor, and it involves breaking plastic fixings which will need to be replaced. I've decided that a dark boot isn't the end of the world.

I expect this is a well debated subject by now but I am curious about the following : If the 2.0 HDI is re-mapped to increase BHP, does this affect the CO emissions and therefore the VED ?

Now to remap vs tuning boxes : anybody out there had experiences (good or bad) of installing tuning boxes on their C5 ? I am looking at eBay of...

I'm not going to vote as imho it depends entirely on who remaps the car, beware there is some serious cowboys out there. A crudely tuned diesel will still go rapid compared to standard, problem is you'll have turbo/clutch/engine/dpf replacement intervals intead of service intervals with a bad map. Its the torque that puts pressure on everything...

am sorry if this in the wrong section, it is my first post

have recently bought a R reg 1.9 td van it has done 220.000 miles and still runs good, and will pull away when run

i have a few little problems, that i dont think are serious, but i want to just double check

1 the stop sign when the ignition is on (not running) flashes is this normal...

went out to try it and pumped bulb tillit went hard, then started whilst it was trying to start smokes was coming out of the exhaust, so am going to replace the glow plugs this week

Agree. It is there for a purpose. Have seen similar on HDi Pug 806's and 406's (probably other models too but not 100% sure)

There's one on my 807, you can see the air duct for it sticking down round about the front passenger seat area.

I always assumed it was on the fuel return line to cool unused diesel before it went back into the tank.

Hi guys,

I have the tpe with axa (over 25 :P) but would never drive an expensive or rare car using it, you guys do understand that if you wrap your 'mothers' range rover/evo/whatever around a tree you dont get a penny for the car!! Apparently it's trouble with full CAN cars. Might I be right in thinking then that the '03 C3 isn't full CAN, but the '01 and 04 Picassos are?

The xsara picasso was never full CAN & the C3 changed to full CAN from around 05, the ones with the slightly different front end.

A few folks have suggested this is a stock fault, but nobody has come up with a definite answer at all.

March 2001 Xsara 2.0 HDi - not multiplexed wiring AFAIK, but no idea how to check this!

My Xantia 3.0 V6 automatic gearbox with 85k miles has packed in.
I would love to put the car back on the road but have been quoted a cost of €2000 to rebuild the auto gearbox. Has anyone experience of converting to a manual box from a Peugot 3.0 or otherwise.
Seems a pity to scrap this wolf in sheeps clothing.

Dear All,

I have a very bad jerking (something like miss fire & loss power) and cause my bracket to crack - it is made with aloy

now I have replaced it, the jerking is still there
what I suspect now is my injector is blocked or my fuel pump is giving me a problem now

what do you guys think?

I suspect my bettery is low --> alternator not charge...
