C5 2.0 110 HDI Estate new owner

Post by iwoo55 »

First post here, I have just bought a 2002 C5 2.0 110 HDI Manual Estate with 134,000 on the clock, I have had Citroens before (since 1981 I have had Dyane, BX (2) AX and ZX) and love the styling however I need to ask a question about the C5 as it seems very sluggish to drive (may be because I am not used to it)

Does it have a diesel particulate filter or not.

I had a Xantia Estate with the 110 HDi engine and my wife's C5 Estate with the same engine did seem a bit sluggish in comparison. We still have the C5 and it still seems a bit sluggish, though not intolerably so. I don't know why this should be, I don't think the C5 is any heavier and it's more aerodynamic. The C5 has a DMF, which must sap power, and it has a different gearbox, though I don't know how the ratios compare. It could be that there's something wrong, but I've never got round to investigating.

To answer your question- your car doesn't have a DPF, at that age only the 2.2 has one.

Thanks for the replies lads, i was concerned about the limp mode coming on when I was pulling my Caravan, the car has been regularly serviced and I have just got it, can the limp mode be disabled?

Is it worth disabling the EGR system presuming it has one, as reading some of the horror stories on here and other forums it does not seem like a good idea at all.

If it's going into limp mode there is something wrong with it. Check this thread to see if there is anybody near you with a Lexia. http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 19&t=29178" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

No its not going into limp mode (I just dont want it too when towing the Caravan)

I have just done 500 miles in it on my holidays last week and now that I am used to it it seems OK to drive, just a few niggles.

1. The rear estate door solenoid was making a noise and trying to open the hatch, fixed by WD40. :lol:
2. The seat belt warning light stays on all the time.
3. The inside of the car smells like stale milk???? (valet planned soon) :lol:
4. The temperature gauge only works when it likes, when it does work its reading normal.
5. The Radio did work but now it will not tune into anything on FM?
