So I started using my 1.8 again after a few months of sitting up. While I was doing work to it the passenger side driveshaft got pulled out (I was changing the old abs ring) so I reseated it and refilled the gearbox oil. What I now have is what is best described as a rumble as i go over any sort of imperfection in the road. If its constant little bumps its like a longer rumbleing and if its one bump its like a quick rumble (it doesnt continue after the bump, just while it's going over it) . Also if I stick it in too high a gear I get the rumbling till the revs come up. If I go over a speed bump with both wheels at the same time It doesnt seem to do it.
I had the wheel off yesterday and tried to put an extra bit of turn on the hub nut. I'm not convinced I puy enough on it before but when I gave it a good lean on it the hub nut and drive shaft turned (half and inch or so at a time)
My other issue is the front seems to be riding high. I can get 4 fingers between the wing and the top of the tyre, pretty much up to the knuckles.
Any suggestions?

Love the ruler Ste
I use fingers to judge. Three at the front and one little one at the rear.
You look a tad low all round...
EDIT: That's fingers on end between the top of the tyre and wheelarch...

In the front I get 4 in pretty much up to the knuckles (ohh matron) . The rear is sitting low alright.
The car sat idle between Dec and the beginning of this month. Didnt show signs of dropping in that time.
Something I did notice the other day when I jacked it up to take off the front passenger wheel, the suspension dropped, pulling the two wheels on the passenger side right off the ground and the drivers side droppign fully.
It's also got hydraflush in it since August (around 2500 miles) that I keep meaning to swap out. Spheres are on it since mid 08 and about 8000 miles. Bar the front accumulator, that wasnt changed.

In my opinion it looks normal front height. Gap in front is always bigger than the rear.Stekelly wrote:... My other issue is the front seems to be riding high. ...
You can check it also from sideways. Stop the car on a smooth area.
Walk about 5-6 m away and visually check the car body line from side and see
if it straight compared to the ground level.
Edit: This one has its front high and rear lower than it should be
I found this pic from a site selling cars. I'm not sure if this one will give a good ride.

I'll check again tomorrow but I think its actually riding higher and dropping to that when I turn it off.
Re: Xantia back on the road, couple of issues
Its probably where the car has been sat tbh. See how it goes after the car is used again, it might possibly free itself up a bit. Make use of the manual height adjustment lever - give it a few cycles from low to high etc.
