Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Ok, this may be a stupid question, but what oil temperature would you lot expect a Xantia 1.9TD to run at.

I've not really looked at the oil temp. guage in the last 12 months, but something made me notice it a last week.

Is a temp. of 50 to 60 degrees normal? This is in normal day to day town running.

Hello Guys,

Having an issue with the side airbags on a Xantia Exclusive HDi.

I've run the Lexia over it and it's told me that the fault is on the nearside (passengers side).

The specific error message is Permanent Fault - Airbag Cartridge Open Circuit .

Is this likely to be the wiring under the seat or the actual airbag in the seat that's...

Panic over... turns out it was the pins in the green connector with the orange wires underneath the passengers seat that was causing the problems.

Hi.

I have a 2007 C5 2 litre diesel automatic.

I was interested in running it on biodiesel and after checking with my usual garage to see if it was ok to run it on this fuel decided to give it a go.

I put 30 litres in last week to try it, I probably had about 10 litres left in the tank, and it seemed to run ok.

I used to run my C5 on bio sometimes. Never had a problem with the C5 but the 2.5 XM ended up with a partially blocked strainer and filter housing full of 'jelly'. If the bio is made correctly it should lubricate the fuel system better than current low sulphur diesel but it's a big if!

I've been wondering, with the age of our Xantias, and in many cases the lack of LHM/Hydroflush throughout most of their lives prior to our ownership, would it be an idea to dismantle and clean the height correctors (not the links but the actual hydraulic units)?

Of those of you who have dismantled HCs, what was the condition inside?

Usually it goes like this - engine oil & filter, fuel & air filter, replace spheres, drain lhm tank, wash out and clean filters, refill with hydroflush, drain 1 litre from each brake caliper and keep topping up lhm tank as you go. Hi, 'Kermit' has acquired a (1996/7?) Xantia TD with Hydractive but the rear suspension is particularly in need of some fettling. Being thoroughly mechanically minded but not familiar with Hydractive or Xantias, is there someone near Worthing who might be able to help get the car's suspension sorted - (and get it onto a Lexia even?)....

With all the issues we seem to have with the hydraulic systems on French cars, has anyone ever considered fitting a pressure gauge? I have a blank gauge on my dashboard where one would fit nicely. Also there are some neat little digital readouts. Any thoughts?

Put the ignition key in the column lock. Press one of the buttons on the remote and simultaneously turn the key to the ignition position. Let go of the button and remove key. Test lock/unlock buttons.

I have a 98 xantia 1.9 td, which when starting from cold is a pig!! Turns over and over, then eventually goes, throwing white/grey smoke out!
When its warm it starts fine. Glow plugs are fairly new, just flew through an mot emissions check, so am stuck!

I had the same problem with my 1996 2.1 TD Xantia (360Kkm).

I changed to glow plugs (2 of them were dead). That didn't help a bit.
I changed the injectors. That didn't help a bit.
I then repaired a cracked fuel hose between the engine and cabin. Fault gone...

Hi guys, my citroen has failed MOT because apparently BOTH of the front suspensions are leaking. I have also had advisory issued before on the same issue. And each MOT center seems to notice this problem.

I really disagree with them and therefore have done fair amount of research and from my own experience.

My sister has a Fiat Ulysse which is basically the same car as the Citroen Synergie.
The front O/S wheel bearing needs replacing. How much of a pain is it to change.
Also does anyone know the bearing size/code please?

OK I've been put off doing this one ... asked a colleague who has an 806, he said he'd done both fwb's and they wern't easy; the ball joint is a pain to separate and then bearings require a press as they are uber tight.

I'm thinking of getting some winter tyres for my C5 1.8i 2005 model. The standard tyre size & speed rating is 215/55R16 W but winter tyres aren't available in this size and speed.

Certain manufacturers (BMW, Audi, maybe others) specify an alternative tyre size & speed for winter tyres but it appears Citroen don't. I believe the car's Certificate...

Totally agree with the last comment. If Citroën come out with a statement of an approved size and speed for winter tyres the situation regarding fitting them and extra insurance premiums or void insurance goes away.

In my case with a 2005 C5II approving 215/55R16 Speed Rated H (130mph) for winter tyres rather than the standard tyre 215/55R16...

By that i mean something like: Service overdue by x amount of miles/days.

Not to be confused with dash error indicators like STOP light.

Hi All,

Due to our billiard smooth roads in the Angus borough breaking my rear near side spring i will have to order one from the dealers as i have an XTR version with the longer spring.

One thing i noticed when looking on E-Bay was that some springs are not suitable for a C3 with a panoramic sunroof.

Anybody any idea why not?

have r reg 2.1 xantia, got bad steering shake, tyres look ok but have some play in rack where the rod that holds the track rod end goes into the rack. can it be shimmed or is it a replace job

as Q, anyone 'upgraded' ( well in theory ) from S1,S11 C5?

with my '02 110 now rocking on with 210k i've been tentatively looking to replace as i need a reliable car for work as i do 20k per yr +.

options at moment are C5 or Skoda Octy Vrs/L & K although C5 is edging it purely on price/yr/mileage options.

so....is it better to go Hydro...

It seems a lot of owners of the 2.2 136 engine get quite poor MPG, certainly for a diesel. The 1.6HDi would be a noticeable improvement in economy for your driving. Though if you dont want a manual it will have to be another 2.2?

r reg 2.1 xantia, running rough and lumpy, had this before and found it was a broken fuel pipe and it was dragging in air, this time i can't find any break or leak, and there are no air bubbles in the fuel line, any idea's welcome

Hi, someone I know has lost the key to his Berlingo van (did not have a second one cut!) Its a 2004 1.9d Enterprise. Citroen want £130 for a key, its coded. Anyone know of a cheaper way round this problem?

I've had the new 2007 facelift C5 1.6 HDi VTR for about a week now and seem to have encountered my first problem, and it's the wrong weather for it!

Basically, no matter what I do the drivers side vents will only blow cold (very cold!) air, whilst the passenger side vents work normally (i.e. will blow hot) . The car of course has the...

Hi

I've been trying to get my new lexia working. but can't get past entering the rp number as it keeps telling me the information from the portal is incorrect, and I should check my configaration. I've obviously done something wrong but don't have the knowledge to understand what it is - can anybody help?

C3 Door Locks?

I have a 02 C3 and when you try and unlock the doors the rear passenger door makes a (brrrr- grind) noise then locks like the rest of the doors. It locks fine. Just the rear door makes this weird noise.
It might be something i can look at and easy to fix. (Something may have moved or broken or needs adjusting).

How do toy remove the rear...

Hi All

My C5 as you know recent aquisition has a weird problem with the doors.

Occasionally the drivers door won't open from inside, will have to pull lever numerous times to get to open, lock/unlock using buttons on key fob from inside or ignition on and wind window down to open from outside!

Also if have passenger in car and they get to open...

Had C5 for a year now and car in for a full service today.

The door opening had got to me so much that got garage to investigate....

Internal door handle is die cast alloy and on inside of door the handle had fractured and starting to open out causing door not to open properly.

Garage called Citroen dealer and part is on shelf as they change so...

Hi All,

I need a temperay fix for a Xsara. Customer is having locking issues with her Xsara, Ive guessd theres a fuse that can be pulled to disable the central bit of the locking so she can lock the car manually.

She has no hand book, neither have I, can anyone help me by telling me which Fues/Fuses I need to pull untill I can get the problem...

A few days ago we strted to get a high pitched squeal when reversing, also got the smell of burning clutch when reversing.
At around the same time the clutch action started to feel different and inconsistent and we were getting quite a juddering through the car when pulling away.
My first thought was that the clutch needed changing but I didn't...

Hi, I have a well looked after C5 from new with about 30k on the clock. I now have the obligatory 'Anti Pollution Fault' and have had it in 2 garages. The most recent replaced the fuel pressure sensor (part 1920CJ). The car still has the same fault but I have been taking it out on short journeys (2 miles) without a problem so far.

I am no expert...

After payingl £127.9 ltr of diesel when i filled up i am considering, getting a cheap xud diesel xantia & running on veg oil, clean oil as i have nt got the gear for cleaning it up.
I know ineed to make sure the car has bosch diesel pump, and at this time of the year it should be diesel/veg oil mix.
Is there any tips to make the ultimate veggie...

It has been announced the the HDi engine WILL run and cope with and IS approved by PSA for running on Bio Diesel, as long as its liquidlly enough, I think, a High Viscoscity ( Not thick like Veg)

But we cannot get Bio Derv here in North Wales from the Garage..

So its Bio or WVO for me this year I think.

I have an 02 picasso 1.8 petrol,just got a handbook from e bay as mine didnt come with one. in the central locking part of the handbook,it states that you can aut lock the car,as I can with the mrs scenic, I followed the instructions on doing it on mine but nothing happens, I can press the locking button and everything locks,but it won't auto...

S1 C5s do not have this feature, ive tried, they don't. Facelifted cars do, however. So im thinking it might be similar on the Picasso.

Id like it on the C5, as its a good thing to have, but im almost certain the early ones can't be programmed to auto-lock, which does seem strange.

How much oil would I need for an oil change.

Also have a airbag warning light on. Began after long trip with stuff stuffed everywhere including under seats. Hear this could affect wiring and cause this light. If so how would I check and where?

One thing I did'nt mention before, when the code was accepted previously only a short time had elapsed (battery change over). This time however it has been 18 months maybe 2 years since I tried. Don't know if this of any significance?

My Activa has a leak from the gearbox end cover area around one of the lower bolts.I note from the Citroen parts catalogue that there are two gasket types fitted - one which fits around the whole perimeter & the later type which seems to located at one point only.I have sourced both types as a precaution but was wondering if the end cover can be...

The end cover on my ML5 uses only high-temp silicone sealer. Took some real effort to remove it, and bent the cover flanges slightly too. That was with the 'box out of the vehicle, so exercise some caution.

I'm a auto mechanic student trying to identify one of the engines in our school

we have the following engine code engraved on the block:
PSA DHX
10CUAV
6001565
12.11.96

It is a Diesel engine

I suspect this is a Xantia engine

Any help with how to go about searching for engine numbers / info on this one will be enormously appreciated!...

After 'downsizing' and starting my own business I find I have a Xantia 2000 HDi SX sitting on my drive as cheap reliable transport, I hope!

Has anyone had any experience of fitting reversing sensors to a S2 Xantia? Any picyures of the install?
I have them on my other car and think it would make a nice upgrade to the the Xantia.

There seem to be quite a few kits for sale, some have wireless displays for the dashboard, they should be fairly straightforward to fit as they are powered by the reversing light supply.

I recently sold a BMW with reversing sensors and I think they were about the most useful thing on it, I certainly didn't care for the rest of the car.

My 52 plate picasso 1600 petrol 8 valve is having problems with the heating fan. The blower is not working unless set on number 4.

I have checked the fuses, the resistor and the harness and all appear in working order. I cannot locate the source of the problem.

Could it be a problem with the ignition barrel??

Any help would be greatly...

The fact that you say you have 4 positions on the fan switch and that it only works on number 4 implies that you have manual heating not automatic. The fan resistor module must be being supplied with 12V as the 4th speed is a direct connection. The other 3 speeds are all fed through a common thermal fuse and a different value wire wound resistor....

Hi Guys,

I have a Citroen C3 2005 Petrol and my washer jets have stopped working. The jets aren't even making a noise when I pull the lever, so before I take it to the garage I'd like to change the fuse.

I've had a quick look under the bonnet and I have no idea where the fuse is. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

On the 1.4HDI C3 the washer fuse is no.3 in the fuse box to the right of the battery tucked under the wing. I had to replace this last week. It is a 10A mini blade fuse that cost all of 25p from the local Toyota dealer. To get to the fuse box you may need to remove the battery cover(s), then use a screwdriver to push the plastic retaining clips...

Hi,
I bought a Citroen Relay 1000D 1.9d with a faulty fuel pump. On closer inspection it looks a little more severe. The timing belt is intact, but roughly every 5th groove is missing and every groove is broken on the leading edge. I don’t hold out much hope but will be removing the head tomorrow for closer inspection.
