Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Somehow I have lost one of my keys for the Xantia. Looked all over the place but can't find it so I wondered if anyone can recommend a cheap(er) route than asking Main Stealer?

I have the code card and one working key - well it kind of works but I have to manually lock the car (unlocking still functions from the key fob).

After much procrastination I finally got around to replacing the accumulator sphere on my Xantia HDi 110 today. I've been dreading this job, fearing all manner of mechanical mayhem.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, the job ended up taking all of 30 minutes. Once I had removed the plastic engine covers and displaces an air hose I was easily able...

Hi i have a lx 90 hp C5 and i wondered if i could change the ECU in it... I want to Put a 110bhp ecu in but its made by bosch and the 90hp ecu which is what i have is siemens would it be possible to but the 110bhp ecu in my car??

I have just bought the front three spheres for my series 1 Xantia. My question is: the middle :? one looks like it needs a pipe seal . similar to the rear one. is this correct ? thanks in advance Terry .

Not quite, the two spheres that go on the top of the suspension strut will have two very small (1mm or so) holes in them, this is the damper. The centre spheres have a big (5-8mm or so) hole.

Hi,

My wifes Picasso is due for a timing belt change, I've done this twice on my Pug 205 without any problems, but this is my first time with a more complex and less space to work with car. Reading the manual it starts by saying that unless I have a special tool/equipment to measure the tension on the belt (in SEEMS) , you should not attempt this...

Ive done a GOOD few HDI belts now and not used a SEEMS and had no issues. You know when its too tight the engine has a whine noise to it!! You need to slaken it a bit then... the 90 deg twist works fine, but watch for belt flap between the Cam and Pump pullys...

It is however important NOT to get the belt too tight on the HDi, as it uses plastic...

I posted on here recently the problem with my C5 2.2hdi. When starting from cold I get lots of whiteish smoke and a bit of misfire but within 10 seconds or so it clears and runs perfectly. Took it to my garage, diagnosed No 4 injector faulty and it was replaced. Car ran fine, next morning still the smoke. Back to the garage, had another 2...

Depends on the diagnostic tool they use and how adept they are at interpreting the results.
Lexia is Citroen specific and will worm out a lot more information than a generic code reader. Particularly if used to collect live data rather than just stored faults.
White smoke indicates unburned fuel so there could still be a problem with the...

Hi All,

On doing the HP Pump, I found the following:

To remove the HP Pump I remove the ECU along with associated Black plastic box, to find there was additional wiring to and from the ECU & injection relay :?

This resulted in a minor starting problem which i think i have resolved by giving the earth cable a better connection

Hi All,

I've got a leak from my delphi a/c compressor probably the shaft seal.

What size of belt fits my motor if a/c is not fitted

From the QH brand site it would appear to be QBR6 1448 with sun roof!

I want to bypass pump pulley until I'm prepared to fit/replace same

Hi All,

HP pump fixed changed seal for suspension supply pipe O ring (19mm x 2mm) with new one and found old one had been damaged I suspect when it was removed and refitted.
Also changed the clip for a hose clip on rubber supply from reservoir All sealed.

I have kept the other seals in case I need to do a complete over haul.

Hi all,

Does anyone know how long the serpentine belt is for a ZX TD, please?

The GSF website offers six variants of 6-ribbed belts. The vehicle's got power steering, but no A/C.

The RP # is: 7119CJ and the car was manufactured on the 5/5/96. I can supply the VIN # if required.

Hi all , tried to change the bottom ball joints on my 2001 c5. They are the ones that citroen seem to prefer that require the castlated socket to remove. Anyway even with this and a 6 foot piece of scoffold they would not budge.
OK its bite the bullet time and I took it to the dealers to be done. An hour later and the dreaded phone call saying...

Another trick:
Find a spare nut from a wheelbearing, pull the rubber of, and clean up the grease. Power the weldingmachine up, and weld as much as possible. It requires some amps to get a good welding.
The heat from the welding helps alot to get things loose. An impact wrench usually do the rest of the job :)

Have to do this a lot, but works...

Can anyone tell me if the external air temperature shown by the trip computer is read by the MAF sensor? If not where is the sensor that provides this reading. My car doesn't have climate control just air con in case that matters.

I have just bought a 2004 berlingo 1.9 diesel which has done 100k. The clutch pedal seems very heavy, especially the lower half of the movement. However, the clutch doesn't slip, the biting point is around the middle if the travel, there aren't any noises and all gears engage without issue. Anyone have specifications for Xantia hydraulic circuit breaker?

How is for instance a 5274 14 as fitted to a TD SX, different to a 95 588 682 from a TD VSX?

Is it just the cut in/ cut out pressure settings. They both look identical.

Hi guys
The beast normally starts instantly from cold. This morning would almost catch but wouldn't fire up. A couple of squirts of esi start and it started and ran fine and started ok for the rest of the day. The battery seems fine.
First thought is obviously glow plugs.
I did replace the 3 accessible plugs less than 2 years ago, and haven't...

I have an old 97 Xantia 1.9 diesel which I need to put a new clutch in. Ive seen where it says you need a special tool to get the thrust bearing to snap back into the pressure plate? Just wondering if this is a bit of Citroen spin or do you really need it?

the way to tell which clutch is in you car is, if the inner cable at the gear box end is fitted to a fixed/stationery bracket and the outer cable attatched to the fork actuatting lever, this type is a pull clutch,

if the inner cable is attatched to the fork actuatting lever it is a conventional push clutch as your picys show,

I have a 2002 C5 2.2 HDI done 80k. When starting from cold I get plumes of white smoke and a bit of misfire. Update
Took to garage and problem with No4 injector so had it replaced. Car ran sweetly but still the smoke on cold start up. Took it back to garage and was told that No2 and 3 injectors were 'low' so yesterday they were replaced. Just started the car this morning, not quite as bad but still smokey on start up, only for a few seconds.
Now paid out...

can't find any detail around what fluid to use. towing the caravan to france at the end of April so I want to have some fresh fluid in to keep the temperature down!
Someone mentioned a complicated procedure with a lexia....surely not?

i was asking if i should check the level first (and adjust the level necessary) before draining, because maybe with the fresh fluid, which would be at room temperature, the level might be off quite a bit.

Unless you know you've had a leak it won't be far off Sam. To top up first and then drain is just a waste of expensive fluid!!!

I have just bought a FAI kit from our local motor factor. I don't know if others here have used them- the rollers look beefier than the original, brackets look a bit different, so will have to look closer when the original is removed. Has anyone else on the forum used FAI stuff before. Xantia 2 Sx 1.9TD

xud engines are sooooo robust ive not actually ever changed and rollers on them as they are already all metal rollers.. My sx td 1994 xantia has 240k on it and well used rollers.. There is however no play in the bearings..

I have though used FAI kits on later hdi engines as they do have rubbish stupid plastic rollers and they are a lot...

Are the C5's Spheres the same thread as the likes of the Xantia?

If so, am I likely to kill something if I was to experiment with popping Xantia spheres on (assuming they fit)? The ride is rather hard in comparison to the Xant. Before coughing up hard earned $$ (spheres here in NZ are priced like slabs of gold), I'd like to be damn certain that...

hi people im gunna be removing my fuel pump from my 2002 2.0 hdi c5 in the morning but have never tried removing one before can somone gimmi a clue on where to start please ie does it twist n pull to remove or is it screwed/bolted in please

Does anyone know which fuse controls the glow plugs on my Citroen C5 2 litre 8V HDi saloon Y reg?

It is rough as anything when starting from cold. I have changed the glow plug relay, glow plugs, cleaned the maf, changed the fuel filter and housing, oil, oil filter and air filter, the map, the exhaust butterfly thing. There is sometimes a smell...

We buy any car are now touting for cars as ,I presume, they think people are in need of money after Christmas. They offered me £105 for my Xantia VSX 1996 with 6months mot and 151000 miles on the clock in good 'nick'.Less than the scrap valueif I drove it to the scrap yard!

Use a cashback site like quidco or froggybank I got my insurance with the AA last year for £230 and got £50 back 3 months later.. When I had the C2 it cost me £120 and I got £70 back.. If you do your research with go compare then buy it through quidco etc you could save yourself quite a bit of money.

Hi Guys,

I'm having trouble with my 2002 C3 1.4 LX, its covered less than 40k and is having random starting problems.

Normally after 3-4 days the remote central locking wont work and the car wont start.

To solve, I manually use the key to open the drivers side door (which uses the central locking to unlock the other 3 doors) there is no alarm...

This is not a problem you ever have on C5IIs, as the battery is out every other month to replace the sidelight bulbs! :twisted:

Saying that, ive never had problems getting any C5 battery out, there is a bit of a knack to it though.

My plans to get a Fiat Ulysse in Glasgow seem to be unravelling so I've seen a C8 in Doncaster. I'm flying over in the morning either way so I'll be buying something.

Changed the lift pump on my xantia just before chrimbo! got a new pump off the net for 120 quid (main stealer wanted 250plus!!)
I think it was a company called car parts4less?.
Pump was easy enough to change and i also changed fuel filter etc.

The battery on my 1995 Xantia 1.8 petrol was dead so I removed it for a few days while the new one was delivered. I now fit the new battery and the engine started perfectly so I switch it off.
I return a few minutes later to go to the supermarket and now the engine won't start, it turns at speed but no ignition. I'm told the immobilizer has kicked...

RESULT!! :)
I dismantled that unit, turns out to be a captive 3 wire DC motor, I just cleaned it all (no fluids), commutator, brushes, contacts etc. There are 3 connections that measure near enough 20-20-40 ohms. Reassembled, install back in car, it starts so quick and tickover is sweet as a nut, great job.

BTW: the item is Bosch 0-280-140537

Ok, here's a good one. I braked a bit hard tonight and guess what I heard from the old warhorse? Nope, I heard a load of water swishing around from what sounds like the sill!!!

I can hear it when I pull away and when I break hard. How's it got in there and how do I get it out? What damage has it done or is doing? Is there any wiring in the sill?...

Well it was water in the sill. Getting in through a hole about the size of a 50p peice in the rear wheelarch. The hole has been cut into the soft rubber lining, god knows why. Can't find the drain holes but found two rubber bungs with when removed let out loads of water!!!

The clicking may also be the drive to the flaps, common problem for the gearing to strip.

If the fan isn't actually blowing it will likely be the control module. If it has automatic aircon then this unit sits in the corner between the center console and the bulkhead, under the dash and above the clutch pedal.

My C3 drivers side front window will only go down partially to a point. Then it stops and tends to tip a bit forward. I have just stopped pressing the button down all the way as it wont go down.

Anyone seen this before or know where to begin for an amateur?

Just curious but have you actually fixed the window now? the fault is (often, not always) caused by a black polystyrene piece of insulation which becomes dislodged from the inner door frame, i used to just wip 'em out & bin 'em, it'll only fall out again.

Hi all.

This is a Peugeot question however I have posted it in here because I know this gets more traffic than the Pug section.

Thanks to everyone who helped re my stereo problem, a new set should be winging it's way through the vagueries of the Royal Mail system as I type!!!

So now the next problem with the car to look forward to and beg help with :s
