Diesel leak

Post by ajw361 »

Hi all! Just returned from a trip around Europe in my Xantia as part of a banger rally. During the rally we noticed a diesel leak. We kept an eye on it for the remainder of the trip but didn't seem to get any worse. Since I've got back I've cleaned it off and had it running at idle and with increased engine speed but doesn't seem to leak. It only leaks when driven. I've read about the return pipes being a problem but it doesn't look like it coming from there. It looks like it is coming from the shiny pipe with the quick clip connector? I haven't taken it off as I wasn't sure if it would cause a problem with letting air into the system. Does this pipe have an o ring? The car drives fine and starts first time?

Its fuel pipe runs from the filter to the thermo stat house and it acts as a fuel heater..

They have a "Squeeze" O ring connector, but the head itself has a built in O ring inside the head...

I hope the HDi car was classed more then Banger!! The HDi is some engine!

Many thanks for the reply. Is there an o ring that is seperate from the connector? The connector is clicked on all the way. Also will it cause a problem to disconnect?
It's far from a banger! Couldn't have done it in a better car!

No it wont cause a problem its self sealing subject to the O ring being in good order, but its not easily accessable...
