Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Clutch was making a strange noise last week, sort of click/clunk as you push the pedal down... :evil: Well this morning, stopped at a set of lights and I couldn't get into 1st gear, had to drive back home without clutch :evil: , good job it was only around the corner.

Hi All,
Does anyone have a spare plastic cover/tray to go in place of the oddement tray? I have bought a set of leather seats for my Xantia HDi and have found the plugs for the heated seats switches under the oddment tray. However, I don't have the correct holder for the switches.

well my 58 plate C5 has passed its 2nd MOT. only issue was blocked washer jets which required the hoses being cleaned out with compressed air, probably the result of using s**t screenwash !

got them to repair both window regulators when the car was in so all set for hopefully trouble free motoring now... :roll:

Can anyone help me please.
the past month i have had a problem with the anti pollution fault! then last week when driving to scotland i got stuck in traffic and started over heating.
anyway it happened again today this time i read a few posts on here.
And ive tracked it down to the 50 amp fuse has gone?

Ok then new fan arrived yesterday so swapped old for new and replaced the fuse. So now the fan is working and no over heating so far :) and extra bonus the air con is now working too ( thought it needed re gassing)
happy days hopefully the beast will get to 400.000 miles just needs a service now.

Ay up!

The front brakes on Fifi are seized, not only the pistons in the calipers but the calipers, carriers, hubs, screws and pins are rusted into virtually one piece of metal.

These I can sort with a big wrecking bar, piece of scaffold tube, BIG hammer and drift plus various cleaning materials, Thing is, I reckon I'm likely to shear one of the...

Ay up!

I got the brakes off no worries. A breaker bar and a 4 foot length of scaffolding pole and..... job done.

The bolt threads were unmarked by the removal violence so I simply copper greased them and put them back awaiing the delivery of the air blow gun to extract the pistons.

Eventually and inevitably one job has turned into another.

I thought I had fixed the sealing of the new sphere to the rear nearside strut of my M-reg 1.9td.
Unfortunately not. Not a very permanent fix as it turns out-its sprung a leak again.

The co-lateral damage to the strut feed pipe has been cleared up but now I have to return to the removal...

What you need is the code number from the caliper. This is cast into the brake pad retainer on the INSIDE, and hides behind the handbrake cable. However, if you've got it off the car, then access will be easy! You may need a wire brush to read the characters. Tell Bigg Red this casting number and you will get the right rubbers. This...

Hi Andrew, Citroen list it as a speed sensor ( #-o ) but as its an early part number 95 code, it wont appear in the current schedule with Servis Citroen. Lucky to still get some of the 96 codings still showing! :shock: That coding 95, is pre Mk2 CX, so might be GSA, Mk1 CX or even DS! No not the new ones! :roll:

Well problem resolved with a bit of soldering, as I suspected the rotary switch for airbag had gone. Not surprising when you think how many times the steering wheel turns :)

Soldered the black connector from my own switch to new one obtained from kind members of the forum.

Also problem resolved re my rear brakes, new warped disc. Will...

I am getting a sort of hollow ringing noise when I use the air con on my 2008 C5 III Tourer. It is getting louder and is loudest in 1st and 2nd gears. Could it be the bearings in the compressor and if so can they be repaired / replaced or is a new one the only answer ?

Hi i am new to the forum, hope you can help with this problem.
The Saxo once she starts revs well while stationary but as soon as i attempt to drive forward it stalls.

I had the relatively common issue of hot air always on tap on the passenger's side (my car has the automatic temp control) and I assumed it was the stepper motor, as seems usual. yeah i did exactley the same
also i noticed that there where little powwer bands main one was at 90mph so if you got up to 90 on a downwards hill you would hit the power band and could keep it at 90 as long as you didnt ease off the throttle, what a pain it has been luckily my trip to work was mainly country roads so didnt get above 70 often...

I've had the 1.7 in BX and the 1.9, 2.1 and now the HDi in a Xantia and they all seemed pretty much of a muchness in terms of maintainance and working on them. All have done/ did serious mileages, current HDi is at 270K+ miles, the gearbox seems bullet proof...

I have a Citroen C5 1.6 Hdi 2005.
I drove around 25 mile in it this morning. The whole journey there & back there was plenty of power.
I parked up when I got home. I went out to it to go away awhile later and immediately going down the road I noticed that I had no power. If I plant the shoe to the full it makes an attempt to go and then dies...

My brother is looking at a 04 c2 1.6 with 48k miles and sensodrive that has had a new gearbox fitted and owner by a Citroen mechanic this seems a bit wrong and low mileage for a gearbox what should he be looking at as I don't know much about them

Not an expert but my wife just bought a C3 1.4 petrol one so I can tell you what we found when looking and what this one is like. Same setup as C2 I believe.

When looking we drove a diesel 100k miles with a replacement gearbox and the car just wasn't right. That is not to say a new box is a problem but if you can find another one to try then...

I'm starting to consider if I should buy a C5 estate (diesel?), but as usual with these sorts of things, I don't really know where to start to find out which one I should be looking at.

There seem to be so many variations of car these days, across all makes and models that it's like, to me, looking for a needle in the proverbial. I just don't get...

How do i know what level the fluid in the suspension tank should be ( i guess its suspension as its the large tank on the inner wing) ? I have been wondering for a bit and tonight i was driving along and i think the red low suspension came on, it went off again a few seconds later, I am wondering if it got knocked as my phone was sitting by it or...

Yep, suspension on low and the level should be just at the bottom of the 'strainer' in the filler.
I overfilled mine a bit - halfway up the lower slots in the 'strainer' with no ill-effects.

I did have a .pdf somewhere but can't locate it now :(

Hi all back again, the diesel filter housing is all ways wet on the out side with diesel changed the filter and o ring last week and its still the same any tips thanks in advance

I found it quite difficult to relocate mine following a filter change and found it would not fit at all with the O-ring supplied. I could smell diesel and stopped to investigate, found diesel flooding out of it and had great problems reseating it properly.
I ended up bashing it on with a lump of wood and a hammer. This was a roadside repair while...

I 'm getting poor fuel consumption 32 mpg on the school run which I was disappointed with but reading through posts seemed about the norm. Should both electrovalves operate at the same pressure?
I was experimenting with removing the vaccum pipe from the EGR valve to try to cure a lack of power and apparent stuttering or reluctance to accelerate past 280RPM under load.

I would expect the inlet vacuum to be the same, as far as I am aware there are not two vac sources on the 2L unlike the 2.2.

Help, curiosity got the better of me! Since I got the car the alarm siren has been switched off via the key switch at the scuttle. I decided to switch it back after some crim picked the locks few months back. The alarm has been set by remote and unset each time since with no probs. I think there is a backup battery, can't say for sure at the moment. I've got some wiring diagrams so will have a look tomorrow.

I remember reading somewhere that low or fluctuating voltage can set the alarm off. Saying that though, it wouldn't make sense here as the alarm is already going off.

I would disconnect the battery, stick the fuse back...

I need to change a rear coil spring on our c4 hatch (2005) and wondered how you get the old spring out? I have spring compressors etc, do I need to unbolt the top of the damper on both sides to let the rear axle down further?

With the vehicle up on stands, all you need to do is to place a jack under the rear arm remove the shock absorber lower bolt on both sides and lower the arm, the springs come out without using spring compressors.

Not a problem at the minute because I havent really started :) Just preparing.

1. I have hacksawed the old pipe off at the strut end.

2. I have carefully traced the pipe to the other end, and have hacksawed the pipe off at this end as well.

3. I have doused the remaining pipe unions at the strut and at the other end with oily smelling...

Maybe it was the liberal soaking in oily smelling spray stuff and then leaving it for a few days, but the undoing of the rusted unions turned out to be pretty undramatic. The one at the strut end I just hammered the 7mm socket gently but fully on. It just undid easy.

My Exclusive has the built in phone function and I just wondered if anybody used it and whether it is any good. Alternatively does anyone connect their phone with bluetooth and do all the phone functions work like the voice control.

Hi All,

this post is actually about the Berlingo, rather than the Xantia for a change. Does anyone know how to repair or replace the little posts that the engine cover sits on? They're similar to the Xantia HDi ones. 2 of mine on the Berlingo simply came off in my hand. They don't look like they'll glue back in place, so I'm at a bit of a loss....

At Citroen service center, they updated me about leak in Steering pipe which can impact on the power steering, suspension and breaks. If anyone have similar problem how much it cost to replace the Steering pipe?

hi guy's i seem to have a problem with the climate control on my 2.2hdi c5

the drivers side adjusts heat from cool to hot ok..

the passenger side does not it stay hot all the time,

And don't let Citroen tell you the part number doesn't exist, it does and you can tell its the correct part by the length on the spline. Long plastic spline = correct, short copper spline = wrong part.

The knob that adjusts the lumber support, forward left on the driver's seat, has broken. I now have the handwheel knob apart and can see that the white stepped 'washer' is broken in two.

Could someone please advise what I need to do to get everything working again? Is it just to buy a new white stepped 'washer'? I assume that it would be wise to...

my drivers window regulator broke so I popped off the doorcard to have a look. turns out it was the steel cable that has corroded and snapped.

anyway, problem is there was some foam padding that I had to burst and remove to get into the regulator. Anyone know where I can get a replacement for this ???

hi there
i have a citroen xantia v6,it will not start and is dead in the water.
when i turn the ignition on all i get is the batt light, nothing else
i have checked all fuses and meterd them out .
i also checked the contactcs on the switch they are ok .
have also checked the wiring to the switch , i have power in and out
the circuit that is not...

Hi Folks

Notice that in my XUD1.9 TD that the GP light stays on a while on preheat long term on a hot start, but goes out when I start. Not every time but some times. Usually its only on a second or 2 as the engine is already warm!

Cold start normal. Do you think my GP relay is getting decrpit?
