2.0 HDI Xsara high idle and laboured drive now have Lexia

Hi looking a for few pointers with my sons car.

It has 90k on the clock, it starts easy idles smoothly though around 1200 rpm. it revs but its under powered.
fuel econonmy remains unchanged.I've looked a few things but not really afforded it any real time yet. The vac hoses all look ok and driving it up the road with the MAF disconnected makes NO difference.

Just looking for any obvious areas to go to before I resign to spending hours at it.

Could be EGR valve related, look for air leaks in pipes, ones that are not obvious can still have a big effect on the operation of the engine.

Well faffed with loads of things, all the connectors-hoses off and on ETC, Cleaned the spark plugs (just testing you're reading ) added 15 quids worth of diesel to the tank, in case the gauge was dodgy. runs a treat now but this left me with the EML engine light on. To that end I bought a Lexia... and cleared the codes.

Quite a busy weekend with this one, new sump; the old one sump had been weld repaired and gone porus. the sump was reasonalby clean inside,, no sludge and the oil only get changed every year 8 to 10k

New front discs and pads to the front along with anti roll bar links.

I've still got a bit of learning with the Lexia though. The bit I've seen looked easy enough to fathom though

What codes were stored? Does it go better now the faults are cleared, or has the light come back on? Low performance is often MAF related (check that is shows a steady increase in flow on the Lexia as the revs are raised), but this doesn't usually put the light on. No idea about the high idle, that is an odd one....

There were too many codes As I had been pulling everything apart to get a reaction out of it, then out of the blue it ran fine. I just cleared them, the light is now out, I'll have another look after a weeks running around to see if anything appears.
