I'd love either a 406 V6 Coupe or an Activa as a summer car, but I'm leaning sort of Activa way. I wonder what one that's been stripped to a tin can and fitted with semi slicks could do at the track, or would that be considered a waste?

Yes. It'd be a waste. You'd only save 100kgs or so I reckon and end with something noisy and not so pleasant to be in. Far better to stick a manual boost controller on and ask those that know on here how to get more power out of it. You don't need semi-slicks on one. They already have considerably more grip than power on normal road tyres.

If you've got decent rubber on the Activa, you really do have to try damn hard before it even starts to go out of shape. Best to keep spare underpants in the glove box. :rofl2: [-X [-o< 8-[

Many of those numpties writing on the Pistonheads forum havn't got a clue and just write from a position of bigotry. More fool them, especially as Activas have joined the ranks of the Lost Ark, Rockinghorse Poo and Hens Teeth so they'll find it harder to ever get a ride. Certainly wont be in my car.

@Handyman where in the clouds of Sussex are you? Are you thinking of meeting at the 1066 Cafe? http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 24&t=47253" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I would love an Activa, but SWMBO says otherwise! I can't really complain as the car I do have is not really ideal for a 130mile a day commute, but great fun!

Well written article by Keith Adams, giving the Activa some well deserved press.
I'm one of the lucky ones, having an Activa with 3.0 V6 conversion by B.L.Autos, it's an awesome car.

Yes, good article in praise of the Activa & decrying Citroens short-sightedness in not bringing the V6 version to the UK. What a bad piece of marketing on their part. :shock:

What I found amusing was all the ill-informed, bigoted comments after the article decrying Citroens technical wizardy. Mugs. :rofl2:

It seems to infer that the RHD V6 Activa would have been very hard to produce due to lack of space. I know conversions have been made but that's not the same thing is it?

Ha. Ok, lets clarify. Is it best to stick a v6 in an activa, or activa on a v6

Use a V6 engine with the ML5T gearbox & transmission from a 406 Coupe, asit'll have all the right ratios, in the right order. :-D You'll also need the later Bosch front brakes from a V6, Mk2 Activa or 110 HDi along with the V6 steering rack & associated parts. The V6 Activa from the factory had some additional stiffening panels, primarily around the bulkhead, under the front chassis rails and on the front subframe. You may also want to use the LH front strut, with a suitable bracket welded to it to take the upper mounting for the front ram. There are a number of other parts required but I'll have to try and remember them all.

I have a lovely 50k mile Activa and every single part that I need to convert mine to an Activa V6 including a V6 Xantia for parts.

Ally, you're just across the Erskine Bridge from me so if you wanted to experience the Activa you're welcome to have a run in mine. However, it's currently hiding from the weather and the salt and won't be back on the road again now until April, possibly May, weather depending.

Wouldn't a custom ECU and a different turbo be a lot easier, cheaper and more powerful?
