Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Anybody know where I could get cross-sectional blueprints of a front suspension cylinder for Xantia?. It's possible to try to fix a leaking cylinder?? Any expert in this forum has tried?

Rev counter playing up!!

My synergie 1.9 tdsx 1997, rev counter is fine till the engine revs get to 2000 and over, then it drops (needle) down to about 1200 and flickers, bring the engine back down to 2000 and the rev counter comes back up. The meter just doesnt seem to want to pass 2000, its as if its over whelemed and gives up.

High guys,
Finally got a replacement rear height corrector, courtesy of citroenxm, first class service, have had it fitted and the ride is now at least consistent but still feels a little too hard. After the old, bearing broken, cradle was lubricated the car would occasionally ride beautifully softly, not feeling any minor surface irregularities...

Thanks for that Simon. Once again you've given me a headache with information overload LOL.
Fortunately the corrector that came from citroenxm was a good clean one and was given a professional clean up and liberal greasing by the indy which fitted it, so working as well as it can.
With the best will in the world I don't think that for 1/2 hours...

Hi

Getting a roar (no vibration) on a right hand corner, like tire roar but more...suspect wheel bearing on the way out. (Just changed the disks as well :( )

Can you suggest, 1st, it looks like a home job, is it ? (I don't have a press but I do have a hammer), 2nd any tips or special tools I will need. Pains say joint splitter, hub puller

Hi

Checked disks and calipers, new disks and pads about a month ago, Wheel spins free & no drag marks on the disk, caliper works OK and even, handbrake is fine on 5 clicks and retracts really well (considering the stupid design). It is not a drag type noise, more like increased tire rumble. (yes I have checked the pressures)

Its in for a garage...

Can't get a c5 for decent money up here so have decided to get a picasso as a second car. Thing is should I avoid a FAP model of engine. Likely 1.6 110bhp but also maybe 90bhp.

Most driving will be 70 mph type driving but also a bit around town but not sitting in traffic.

You will only get a 92bhp 2.0 in a Picasso, but IMO it is well worth it over the 1.6.

The 1.6HDi is a very good engine . . . when it's right . . . but if anything is just slightly out of kilter it's a pain in the arse to sort. The oil has to be fully synthetic 5w/30 and changed every 3k miles ( you can go to 5k/6k if you wish but you've been...

Today, the Xantia HDi passed a milestone..

From what im aware, this car is ALL original, original clutch from what I know, original Head Gasket, original turbo.

Still no oil useage, no water useage. Slight injector rattle to be expected..

Something has to wrong soon! but it never does!

Hi All - I’ve been down a typical Citroen path. 2CV's, BX's, Xsara, Xantia & my first new vehicle - a Nemo Multispace 1.4 HDi 8v Diesel 2009.
I've always used Haynes manuals for my servicing until the new Nemo: (little shock) they aren't going to make one.

Chaps, I am now the owner of my Dad's Xsara hatchback (he inherited a poxhall astra!) and there are naturally a few issues I want to work through, with your guidance :) I hope.

Main thing at the moment is a slightly sticky accelerator pedal - it doesn't move smoothly as I press it but instead goes in small jerks. Which naturally makes it a little...

More than likely itll be the cable frayed on the inside somwhere causing resistence

Change the cable out and shoukd be fine after that

Had quite a few like this/ snap! Useually at the worst possible moments ie over taking lol

Quite common and easy to change, new cable is around 10-15 from most motor factors :)

It think we might be talking about the same thing. This is the 'resistor' in the C4 for cars with climate control which is different in design and function than the resistor for air con cars.

On the parts diagram, it's called a control module and looks fairly similar to your C5 one but with prongs...

hi all have just got hold of a xantia hdi diesel as i am new to this car i seem to be having trouble with the suspension the problem being as i start the car it sinks an then after 15 20 seconds it sorts its self out can anyone help its a 90 bhp on a 2000 reg cheers an all so in the last couple of days i can hear a pump noise but not all the time...

Hi, Has anyone used the LED SMD bulbs on rear lights, if so how many LED's on esch buld do you require to get a good result for each area of the lamps. I have ordered a few from amazon but won't get them till october. If the LED's are not worth it are there any bulbs brighter or more LEDish out there.

Hi welcome to the LED world! ive changed all mine to led's the only ones that cause problems are indicators as the flasher motor needs to see xyz load to work but you can get round that by a ballast resistor thing(they are out there already made)
Flea bay is the place for them but there are a few decent places to buy direct over here but most over...

Hi Guys,
Whilst changing the NS dipped beam bulb, I noticed this when removing the battery, erm, anybody know what it is? What it does? The black box on the left connects to the grey box on the right and they are then screwed on to the bracket in the middle, where it connects to the rubber hose underneath, this is broken.

Just a thought Allan, is it possible for you to try and see if you can open your Boot door with the car locked remotely
My S2 actuator sometimes refused to activate the boot lock and the alarm falsly triggered because the hatch wasnt locked.
common fault apparently with the S 2. the actuators were fairly weak to start with and some people oiled...

I think I have a problem with a rear suspension bush. As anyone got any experience of this problem? The car has 114k on the clock. Thanks for any advice / help.

Ideally, smaller rollers would work. You might find one brand has finer needles than another - this was certainly the case with 405/Berlingo rear pivot bearings a few years back - SNR made a finer bearing. Can't comment on the Citroëbics idea - other than to say it won't hurt!

I wouldn't advocate fitting grease points except when doing the full...

Swapped all four wheels with another C5 and to speed the process jacked the back wheels under the towbar. During the process I raised the suspension for more clearance. After finishing the job and lowering the car the rear suspension remained fully extended and no amount of starting the engine and cycling the suspension up and down would budge it....

BUT...I have also a question, would the Mk1Estate tow bar fit the Mk1 Facelift Estate ?, some sellers sites are a little confusing on the matter, some say yes, some have different No's but the images look the same.

Hi,
I need to change my clutch in a dispatch (actually a scudo badge but not found a lot of advice on fiat forum!)
It's a 1.9d, year 2000.
I've never changed a FWD clutch before,only RWD. Not sure what is best to do and there are no manuals I can find for these models. Is it weasier to just pull the engine with gearbox attached? Or pull engine...

As the topic says my hydractive electrovalves are not functioning. Again...

Just put the car together again as I replaced the seal in the doseur valve which failed and there was LHM all over the carpet on the drivers side.
The battery was disconnected for a few days as I waited for the new parts.

So when putting all back together, checked for...

The damping in the front is quite ok, but in the back not so good. Car drops quite rapidly (only in the back) when it stops.
It also takes quite sometime to raise from low to normal (1-2min), but from normal to high it takes just a few seconds... I have cleaned both...

Installed Diagbox 7.01 on to freshly installed XP 32 following Scary uTube clip updated to 7.04 using same video. Making sure no internet connection at any time, machine has not connected since fresh install, unblocking any window firewall promts.

All seems well plug in Actia device usb drivers install connect up to car with ignition off, great...

Hi folks
I have a 51 reg c5 2.0 hdi 110 bhp ,drives fine but no power or oomph when accelerate hard eg going from slip road to motorway /dual carriageways
i have checked turbo and vaccuum pipes
all above fine

what else could it be?

I recently purchased a 02 C5 2.2 hdi exclusive automatic. Overall I'm really impressed with the car, yes there's a few niggles and a few things that don't work (or dont' work properly) but as a work horse car to get me to work and back up and down the motorway it's comfy and easy to drive.

Hi,

I have a 1998 1.9TD xantia estate S2 Model, today it threw the cambelt whilst the engine was only idling and Now I have a broken camshaft, I have lifted the Cam Cover to find the break on the drivers side of the engine, lucky it didnt break into more pieces as I have heard they can shatter in three places.
The Cap shells are all still intact...

As per my previous thread about whether I should sell or keep my C5, the general consensus was that i've been scammed by workshops. I have one small issue with my car that i'd like to get rectified.

The car leaks a drop or two of oil from around the middle of the engine compartment onto my driveway every day.

It's going in for investigation work...

Having had and loved 2 x Xantia estates I replaced the wife's car (one of the last Xantia 2.0 HDi's) with a new shape C5 2.0 HDi Exclusive, which is an absolutley fabulous car! We had no problems with it for the first 3 weeks, but it has recently cut out four times. It does so at low revs - three times while trundling over speed bumps in 2nd gear...

I have lost my 3 button plip key. For my 2009 berlingo

Bought 2new ones from ebay along with a famus italian brand programmer tablet
The program of the start chip i think would GO easy.
But what about the remote buttons. Is There a way to program This?

Or is This programed when i program the startchip?

Just paid £156 for my wife's new Renault one button plip key fob. £45 was the cost of programming. I was told to steer clear of Genuine Renault keyfob/transponders. Previously I had a new Saab one supplied and programmed for £120.
No idea about Ebay ones for Citroen, sorry.

I would appreciate some advice, please.
I’ve seen a 2007 C5 HDI 138 bhp 2ltr automatic for sale locally and it looks ok, at least in the photographs. It’s done less than 40k miles.
I know that the HDI is generally ok and I’m not worried about that. I would like to know the following: -
What is the cam belt change mileage/time interval on this...

I was talking with a mate about Sylv's the other day who tinkers with Citroens and he said it has probably blown a hole in the heater matrix through electrolytic corrosion.

Obviously, ships use a block of zinc bolted to the hull to prevent it. Do Citroens have a 'less noble' metal bolted somewhere or wired in to act as a sacrifical lamb.

Personally I think the PH level is the problem with a cheap matrix. The fluid will become charged only IF there already is corrosion within the system as it is the oxides (particulates) that carry such a charge.
Control the PH--control the oxygen--control the corrosion.

We use a system like this to test the system water after 6 days of service....

Hi all, there's nothing going to the battery, but if I press down on the voltage reg. coil side to make contact (lid off) then the meter shows voltage to the battery. Now can I fix this, or do I need a new regulator. If so, would any 6 volt regulator do the job. I've read that I can bend the contacts so they touch, but will they open when needed...

I have just bought a C8 that had the catalytic converter stolen, I ordered the one i was told fitted but when i went to fit it the small pressure pipe from the sensor did not fit in the hole ( which i think is the size for a lambda sensor), I need a cat that has the hole the same size as the hole on the dpf for my small pressure pipe to fit onto,...

Problem solved, nut and washer welded on yesterday then fitted new cat, dpf and sensor pipes, taken to garage today codes cleared driven 60 miles and all working normally.

Hi, anybody know what the one on the far left is, looks like an engine wearing a seat belt ? Xantia HDI 2001.

I don't have a handbook and after the usual rev the living wossname out of it Mot this has now come on. Not there when it went in.
Some puffs of black smoke on the foot off then to the floor test but otherwise ok. Passed the emissions...

Just put my 3 year old C5 exclusive in for its first mot at local garage today and it failed on a major leak from nsf suspension. I was under the impression that the leaky suspension was sorted out on these new cars ? I thought they were sealed for life now. Two weeks out of it's 3 year warranty too. Anyone any suggestions or ideas ? Local garage...

Dealer did a complimentry check over on mine before warranty expired and found the strut leaking too !
It was replaced under warranty.

Hi Chaps,

My father has just bought a 2001 C5 with with say nav built in.

However, the Sat Nav screen seems to be completely dead, that said the other day it did flicker at me so there is power going to it. The other thing is the CD player that is built into the radio does work and looking at another post it could be caused by the same thing....

I would think he will do it by cheque if you are not local....He is a trustworthy guys so you deal with him with confidence.
He IS not a fan of the Tinternet (old school) and he is NOT a scrap yard so approach...
