Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

It sounds like someone has previously blanked it off to avoid cleaning or replacing it. By their nature, they will ultimately need cleaning or replacing due to the build up of deposits.

Morning all

I'm a citroen Virgin having just bought a c5 2.0 hdi moving over from a saab 9-3. I love the car but it's got a few quirks which I would like to change if possible. Firstly can I stop the wing mirrors from retracting every time I lock it? and can I keep the radio on when I turn the engine off. Only a few small niggles but any help...

My C4VTS always sounds like the exhaust is blowing complete new system fitted 5months ago flex pipe replaced later under warrenty now sounds like centre box baffles gone are VTS supposed to be noisy???

This car has done 130 000 miles. If I go though a pothole (there is one I can't avoid, close to my house) I get a knock from the front RH wheel (looking from inside the car). I don't get the knock if I go through potholes with other front wheel.
Tyre wear looks even, no real vibration at around 70mph.

Hi, I have a Xsara Picasso, 2.0 HDI on a 55 plate (2005). for some reason the fuel pump seems to be staying on when I turn the ignition off, this is draining the battery overnight and becoming a bit annoying disconnecting the battery every time I stop.

I say seems as there is a buzzing coming from the fuel tank area and it stops when I disconnect...

I thought it could be the relay but couldn't see where it would go as was looking for the brown one that seems to be popular. Will now have a good look at the fuse box under the bonnet.
I don't have a circuit diagram unfortunately, if anyone knows a link that would be great.

It would be good to have the following confirmed as 'ghost' fault codes, so if anyone else with an X7 C5 2.0 HDi Exclusive has any of these too - please chip in :-D

I have the following Faults coming up with Diagbox each time a global test is run - clearing makes no difference as the next time test is run the are back:
U1213 - Under Inflation...

I have P2133 ja P2131 on mine. Something to do with kickdown and throttle pedal I guess. However throttle pedal seems to work ok. Only fault is that automatic gearbox tends to change too small gear when accelerating with cruise control. If accelerating normally with throttle pedal, gearbox changes normally.

Changed gearbox and clutch come to start car and all it does is either clicks or sometimes it cranks over, plugged car upto lexia and it found 1 fault on bsi saying ecu communication fault? Nice one Sean, way to go. That's the trade off really, it will always go to the higher mileage between dash record and BSI. Just keep old vin no. and mileage in log book somewhere and date new vin was changed with starting mileage for new vin. Should clear up any issues in future. Don't think you need to inform DVLA because engine has not been...

My air bag light is constantly on in my 2002 xsara Picasso. I had my garage scan it with a Delphi tool and the error was right pretensioner squib open circuit. Where will I find this? I've looked underneath the drivers seat but can't find anything. I'm thinking maybe it's in the door pillar, am I right?

I am back with another problem with my Xantia, i hear clicking from pressure regulator in 2 sec interval. I know from what i read here that the main suspect is the accumulator sphere. So i check it, it was ok. My question is, can the pressure regulator be faulty so it cant hold the pressure, or the hydraulic pump is on its way out and cant...

In general a delay in the brakes would be either lots of air in the brake lines (common on the rear brakes, not very common on the front brakes) or a flat accumulator sphere. (front brakes affected only)

But bleeding all four callipers costs nothing and doesn't take long so I'd try that first, and its a good thing to do anyway. I assume you know...

Newbie here - although I've been a lurker for many years and solved many problems with the info found on FCF. My 98 xantia (hdi exclusive) needs new spheres on the front and my service guy tells me they're not the same as standard xantia hdi. He says main dealer only @ almost €200 each! Ouch! I'm looking at a Xantia V6 -99 with the automatic gear box in safe mode/limp mode . It has been for sale for a while. First it was for sale for approx £870 and now £650.

Is it possible at all to drive the car in limp mode? I've read somewhere one can pull the fuse and in that way gear up and down manually. Is that true? Is it enough to...

No you said its likely to not get all the codes - but in fact a standard OBD-II code reader will not communicate with the gearbox at all or any other ECU in a Xantia as a Xantia is not OBD-II compatible despite using a standard OBD-II connector.

So trying to use anything other than a Lexia or Elit is a complete waste of time on a Xantia.

another problem with my 2008 C5 !!!!...the left wiper suddenly just stopped working today, the drivers side one also now only goes at 1 speed. I can see the other wiper jumping as if it wants to move but nothing. broken motor perhaps ?? :cry:

I know - it does make you start double guessing Richard! That's why I left a list of about 4 codes with the Citroen Service Manager that I was always getting despite clearing them on Diagbox, in order for him to check if they were 'ghosts' - I'll ask Wednesday (when it's in for the window regulator warranty job) if he managed to find out or not.

I have just given my C5 a small service, an oil change and Oil, Air, Fuel filters, cabin was do last year, and a quick check over, all went well apart from the fuel filter, pain or what unclipping the fuel lines, did not bother in the end. but that is not what this post is about.

Now after doing the above I decided to sort my service records out...

The radiator blew a hole yesterday on the way back home from Langport just outside of Taunton. Pulled up on the central reservation of the dual carriageway and helpfully, during the stop/start traffic, a couple of kind cars shouted out their windows You wanting water mate? And started throwing bottles of water at me.

I just picked up a high mileage 2006 c5 1.6 HDI as a run around (taxed and tested till next year :) ) The foam in the bolster on the inside and on the outside of the seat base on the drivers seat are collapsed so I was thinking I might dig my drivers seat that I took out of my 2000 reg Xantia a couple of years ago when I fitted leather to it and...

I've now worked out the LH fan motor is unhappy, so am following VertVega's guide to removing the motor. Except the 10mm spanner doesn't work :-(

Looking in a mirror, it seems to be some kind of spline fitting - the opposite of a torx (*). Does anybody know what size it might be? Any handy tips on getting it off?

I've now pulled a motor off the spare Xantia, which had the 10mm nut/M6 stud as per vertvega's post. Which answers the question - on that, it's not an immediately obvious thing to do, unlike on the newer one.

The spare motor spins with some volts, so I might get to use my sawn-off offset spanner after all :-)

Going along the M-way, overtaking, just off boost and then a big 'puff' sound and the accelerator dropped and then no power and the aftermarket boost gauge fitted by a previous owner, was showing zero boost. I could hear a rushing sound as it drove and I thought the pipe to the boost gauge had popped off and that was all, stopped in service area...

My 2.1TD popped her gasget between cylinders at my mothers once.. I started her and took her 20 miles to the Farm and sorted it.. Even with the hole betwwen the cylinders it still drove ok..

Ive got lexia and pp as seperate standalone software programs and do prefer it. I had diagbox and hated it.. It was awful.. The two softwares use the same interface unit.

As for location im a bit further away in north wales..

Dont think ive had an x7 problem with my lexia either.. Ver 3.45 iirc ..

I currently have a 2009 1.6 Hdi X7 Tourer. I have really enjoyed this car and it is still going strong, with the only major job in the last 200,000 km being a clutch change at 110,000 km. Nonetheless, I am thinking of trading up, almost certainly to another C5 Tourer, but a higher spec one (mine is lowly French-plated 'Business' trim...

I have a 163 bhp, auto saloon, I have never driven a steel sprung big Citroën, so could not possibly comment. Yes the hydractive is very complex but I can only remember having only had 1 problem in the last 40 or so years, that was a weeping pipe (C5 mk1).
As for mpg, monthly average, 13 mile trips to and from work, with a little local driving...

Hi all just a question really since i purchased my C3 I've had no problems with the clutch and i still don't. I was just wondering if anyone else who has the C3 can advise me to whether the clutch biting point is at the top of releasing the pedal? as mine is. Is this normal for the C3 or not? Any way off turning off the C4's seatbelt warning noise. They keep going off even when clipped and I think weight on the seats it setting them off. They are doing our head in.

Hi just a quick question as I cant get my docbackup/serde to work ( keeps coming up with error messages) can anyone tell me the part number for the tow electrics for a citroen c5 estate on an 52 plate....I know there is 2 part numbers onw up to rpo 9442 and another for 9443 and newer.... I need the part number for the rpo 9442 and older....

They don't have towing kits or the electrics on DocBackup as far as I can see - these are accessories. I've done a long search and nothing is coming up at all - zip.

Citroen have the tow bar itself here for the C5 Estate (pre facelft) as part 9427 97 - the electric kits are dealer enquiry thjough and are not listed under the national accessories...

I've recently had fitted a new radiator and thermostat into my Phase 1 Xantia TD. Unfortunately one or the other of them is now playing up. They were both fitted by garages due to lack of time / weather / botheredness, but as its now light and sunny I feel like I should be trying to work this out myself. Thermostats are cheap, so lets start...

Mine only has 2 i can find, one on the T piece above the engine mount, and one on the heater matrix elbow

My 1995 S1 Td also has just the two bleed points as chinkostu .

I use the bottle method as outlined in Haynes - works fine. I use an old bottle with gently tapering neck, and wrap insulation tape around the neck which has a bit of give in...

Hi recently purchased a xsara Picasso hdi 2.0 very very cheap but no service history
Just got the service kit and have been warned about putting 5w 40 oil in as could kill a high mileage hdi
This has got me worried now as I need this car to last a few months any advice greatly appreciated

My C5 2.0HDI is doing well average 74mpg everyday driving, but my front alloy wheel on the driver side is damage by pothole which is now vibrate so badly when increase the speed. The garage said alloy head bore is bend slight and is not repairable, I have never like the looks of standard alloy wheel so I though I want to buy my own nice alloy same...

When I bought my C5, I noticed the N/S dipped beam was illuminating distant roadsigns much better than my old xantia.
Due to a later failure of the O/S lamp, I recently got both bulbs replaced and voila! I was no longer searching for aerial bombers and oncoming traffic was flashing me less. :lol:

However, the flashing from oncoming traffic still...

Tried having a feel around the lamp today. With rubber cap off, I could feel the connector and tried feeling for any play. To my surprise, against slight spring tension, I was able to push down on the end of the connector and observing through the glass, saw the bulb tilt upwards. While it feels like there's enough spring tension to resist bumps...

Help needed - I need a LINK to a wiring diagram for my 1984 UK CX 2400 I/E Pallas Auto. I have had a Auto electrician look at it because it will not start and there is no power to the coil and he says he needs a wiring diagram to take it further.

Anyone usedit, I have and makes so much differance, first used in a 1996 transit luton, seriously
UnderPowered, not powerfull enough to tow caravan, or start on steep hill, also sorted noisy vibrating
Gearbox,
after about 650 miles turned Into a boy racer, lol.next used on 1985 peugeot 305, like a tractor,
about same speed aswell, did 574 miles...

Got the car dynoed.
Deeply disappointed:
First pull:
max power=53,5 kw @3650 RPM, Max Torque 171,1 Nm@2800 RPM
Second pull:
max power=54,8 kw@3750 RPM, Max Torque=171 NM@2800 RPM

Those figures are at wheels. Considering the losses are about 10% on the fwd car, the power at the flywheel is about 60 KW.
So in conclusion the product did not help...

I've got the Hydractive III+ suspension. I've noticed recently some odd things (I should point out I rarely use Sport mode, all the observations below are in Normal mode):

(1) from Normal height, I used to press the 'down' button to lower it, the front would go down first followed by the rear and a diagram would show up in the driver's console...

Yes - I know the C6 had the triangular sliding adjustment at each unit to restrict / allow the flow of fluid - it is this element that was removed. I'm guessing that with the 4 wheel travel sensors (as opposed to the 2 front and rear height correctors on the standard system) can supply the CSS with more detailed information from each of the wheels...

Hi All,

Hoping I can get a little advice here. Had a problem on Monday where my x-reg 1.9 dispatch wouldnt start.

Was working perfectly in the morning, then nowt. No smoke from exhaust on cranking, and I cant see any bubbles in the fuel line, which along with the fact that it eventually kicked in, got me home then subsequently wont start, leads...

The C5 has had a minor thing going on a month now. Starts fine most mornings. Some mornings the Stop light stays on and the little red dot light as well.
It all goes off when a few hundred yards up the road. The light thing is sometimes accompanied by a misfire as it starts from cold. Like firing on 2 or 3 cylinders, then building up to proper...

As from today I have to walk around the car to lock it. The boot locks never worked either so it's time to fix it before the last one goes and I'm locked out.

Are the boot lock barrels interchangeable between Xantia hatchback and estates? Both cars are mk1.

Also the ignition barrel on red is worn but greens isn't. Is it possible to make a good...

I bought some Philips X-treme Vision +130% bulbs for my Mk III C5 (3.0 HDi Tourer) and asked local Citroen dealer if he would be good enough to fit them. Last July I paid for a Peugeot/Citroen axle refurbishers to supply and fit a refurbished rear axle for my 2007/57 C5 1.6HDI Estate. In October, the car failed its MOT on excessive play in the assembly. I took it back in to the refurbishers and they fitted a new mount bush and, as I understand it, also applied new bearing kits. 100 miles...
