French Car Forum

I think I can empathise with Jeremy about the P5. I owned the rarest of the rare mk1 1960 model for about 6 months back in the 90s with a manual box, optional disk brakes, sun roof and valve radio. Although a personal favourite, it was rotten and did 10mpg on a good day, but it was by no means the worst.

Worst Car - Triumph TR7. It was bloody...

Tesco 3 litre veggie oil has been a bit cloudy lately- they have changed from a clear oil in a square bottle, to a murky oil in a round bottle, the BX still seems to be running OK though...... 8)

I had a panic on the way to work this morning.
Freezing cold night, maybe slightly too much svo to derv in the tank, I get 2 streets away from home and...

Excellent- that's what these forums are for! I stumbled across them by fluke doing a web search for the bits I needed and was impressed that they did the tensioner pulley, the jockey pulley, and the belt all in one kit, and I was surprised the usual suspects (GSF,ECP) didn't also do them all together as a package- it's annoying, like BX clutch...

Cant believe its £1300 for him to insure, 3rd Party Fire and Theft....Insurance is such a joke is depressing.

Tell me about it when i first started insuring my 306 i was payin over a grand as well, got in down to £353 quid fully comp with the post office now that ive got 3 years no claims, got it on this which was dead easy just whack in your...

:D

Thank Lordy hehehe

Thank you Anders. :D
.

Well if you missed that one you might like to take a look at

  Shame on you Antony :!: :!: You conveniently forget the previous (french) apple of your eye, the Activa was a blatant plagiarism of the superbly engineered Toyota Soarer Active UZZ32 which also had the benefit of 4ws, tv, electric everything (including the steering!), ultrasonic 'shaky' mirrors, and something the Citroen lacked -...

No it doesn't.

But I would advise covering the number plates up, I very much doubt that ANPR can tell the difference.

My ex work mate sent me his to try as he got a proper kit for his Ipod, this device is from the Argos book at thirty quid it would seem and I used it with a £20 wee mp3 player (that actually only cost us £2.50 from Argos, just a cheapie for when me and the other half go to paris tomorrow morning)... well anyway using it with that I cant say I was...

Nahhhh .. the worst thing they did was NOT to make the new diesel Accord with an auto box option!!!! :-( Still, with all the problems they have had with their V6 autoboxs maybe they did us a favour.. ;-)
.

Left handed screwdrivers?

My eyes did`nt decieve me then  .
Cheers guys :)

Hi Alan.. There was a TV programme about those frogs shown here (UK) about a year ago.. I'm sure glad we don't have them here (yet!).. :?
.

The 1769 cc Turbo-diesel was 78 BHP in the Peugeot 205 Turbo - when it did not have an intercooler. In BX it has an intercooler and is variously rated at 88 or 90 BHP and 133 lb ft torgue.

I think 50k is very optomistic, its not THAT nice, and only if it were a chapron would it be worth that amount.

Martys covered most of the problesm i've encountered with the idea (though i was thinking along the lines of a 2.8hdi from a realy van :D) the smaller HDi's hae a very similar bottom end and will physically fit into most of the PSA engine bays (alledgedly you can get a 2.1td into a 106!!). Wiring however is a bit of a big!
Theres nothing simple...

Yes, though it's really a '95 car on a **good day**, wearing a year 2000
english registration plate - something you don't do legitimately in the UK
unless of course it's a car that time (and a Citroen dealer!!) had forgotten...

That's a lot of money for a car far older than it appears!

Andrew

Past a Clio on Tuesday on the side of the dual carrage way with its bonnet firmly smoothed out over the windscreen.......

nobody is forcing you to buy a Cx you know!

Apart from that little devil on your shoulder that keeps whispering............. But you know how good they are to drive

I'm sure the DS was the first with inboard disc brakes? Edit. No it wasn't , Lotus 11 had inboard disc brakes on a De Dion axle at the back. But first with front inboard disc brakes?

Gee's will you guys stop it ...... CX's are sh!t .... and absolute cr@p car...... Dunno why anyone would want one...

No stop trying to increase there value will you .... I want 'em near free/cheap so I can still afford them !!! . Stop praisng them !

C6 ??? Maybe in 15years time if they actually sell any :)

It's only when you see the factory manuals that you realise how much Haynes have cribbed over the years. I have various BL 'operations' manuals accumulated over the years, and Haynes have swiped loads of the line drawings from them.

PRnet is handy, if a bit clunky in it's navigation- Kia also had a similar system but annoyingly they restricted...

I think that's a bit of a known issue on Lagunas, caused by the EGR valve leaking or something like that. It's one of the reasons for their spectacular depreciation.

GSF have one for £25 inc VAT (They have a branch near where I live)

That would be the clincher for me.

Being local and being able to take it back in person if there is a problem is worth the extra quid (and more).

Thanks very much...glad to be back on form!!!!!

3 wheeled cars are dangerous! and yes it's off topic, sorry monsieur Anders!
(Back on topic) Yes, they are. I drove a 1934 Morgan and burnt my elbow on the exhaust whilst leaning on the door . :(

in the dim and distant past i used to work for the land registry (first job i do apologise) when the surveyors go out they tend to make assessments based on what they perceive is the age of the fencing that your 'new' bit of land has been fenced in with.....

i had a montego turbo...very fast car (though it spent most of its time being repaired)

A number of cars which were built in British factories are becoming few and far between and would like the Government to help preserve these cars by offering and extension on the current exemption date.

I don't get it. How's a road tax exemption going to help preserve A number of cars which were built in British factories ? Does nobody care...

I hope its better than the buy car tax disc online ( ). I had no troubles buying my AX tax disc following instructions on the V11 letter in August.

However in December my Saxo's was up for renewal and the letter didn't have the 16 number code on the website said is neccessary and shown on their piccies.

The website also had a problem with the...

I was there in '74 (bottom end of 7th avenue) and Laguna went close but didn't go under due to its proximity to Currumbin Creek mouth.
Prices are outrageous even up here. A neighbour of mine shifted a chmphorboard place onto a block and before he could even get a fence up, he was approached by an agent asking if he wanted to sell.
Price? A$600K...

Thanks all.. I wil throw it in the old rootes engine :)

What causes 'running-on' ? Retarded ignition?

Idling has become high after engine is warm.. uncomfortably high...
Had a Solex carburettor do that in the Renault 4.
The pivot of the butterfly had slop and was letting air in, causing fast idle that could not be reduced, and the engine was running-on too.
The only way to stop it was to clutch into...

It wasn't the Hyperspace Bypass, then?

(note to mods - tenuous connection to car-related topic = Ford Prefect) 8)

  Funny you should say that! I put the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy on my iPod last night and thought exactly the same whilst listening to Episode 1.

And a Happy New Year from Newport Pagnell. There must be a...

Thanks FL and BX.. So they just plug into the cigar lighter.. hmmm.. In that case I may get one for the Honda as its now almost exclusively used by the g/f.. I will keep the ZX as is, as I like basic and primitive

The prob I have with Atlas type maps, is the fact that every destination I set off for is in the crease in the middle bit! So I...

It just is :D Maybe the long shiny tailpipe?

Hiya Jim.. It's nice to know you had a good time over Xmas. Playing taxi's is a pain at times but as traffic was unusually light in this area I quite enjoyed the running around.. :)

If I lived nearer I could have dropped my ZX over for you to play with and really made your day.. heh heh.. Seriously though.. I am sorry to hear you have the...

I had to go to Squire's Gate for bits when I was on holiday. Very helpful they were too.
Car was part of a fleet at one of the clinics I work for, now valeted and sans stickers and sans green flashing light on the roof (sadly).

And a (belated!) same to you all

Have a good 'un 8)

I would say that the wheels, conveyor, etc are nothing to do with it! How about a seaplane, with no wheels?

The movement is the reaction from the engine thrust against the engine; otherwise rockets would not work in space. The only issue with the wheels is drag; if we slow them down enough, insufficient airspeed will be reached - typically...

........................and Christmas day???????????????

Crazy place I tellya.

Well Had a check and by the looks and feel of it the wheel bearings are ok. So I think its just that pedal travel thing.<--- I know very technical

About 25 years ago, after freezing nights in Belgium, we used to start the DS’s with 24 volts.
No damage ever, no electronics, and the alternators never found out either.
That was then. :?

LOL, BXB

Now we know why there is a shortage of indicator bulbs ...
Except those for indicating right when you leave a roundabout.

Try this one to help your plight: 8) 8)

Like most British cars - I'm sure during the 60's most designed the rear suspension after a liquid lunch - yawn - I can't be bothered - deadline coming - oh well we'll stick leaf springs on again - that'll do!

three cheers for everyone that keeps this site running....oh and happy xmas as well :D
