GOVERNMENT CHARGE PER MILE AND TRACKING PROPOSAL

Post by 8304 »

This might be in the wrong part of this forum so apologies if it is i understand if it gets moved but here goes.......

you may have heard about the gouvernments proposal to get every car driver to spend £200 on a gps tracking box so that the driver can be charged for every mile they drive, in addition to fuel duty and the normal car tax. Not only will you be billed for the miles that you drive with this box, your location and speed will also be tracked, a clear violation of you privacy.

if you are of the opinion that the above is a step too far you might feel inclined to sign the petition below on the number 10 website. I think somthing like 1.5 million people in britain have already done so.

And do you realy think that anybody in power will take the time to download it, let alone actualy read it??

If they want to do it, then thats what they will do.

The petition is on the gov. own website and it has already got their attention.

The "they will do it if they want to" attitude is what has got the country in the mess it is in. If we shout enogh about things maybe they will sit up and realise that they are supposed to do what we want and not the other way round.

And yes, this is the wrong part of the forum. Plus there is already a thread in the correct place.

Unfortunately this type of post... however well meaning, always leads to political discussion/opinion which I don't think is what this Forum should be about..

Agreed! - there are many forums for political debate but this shouldn't be one of them, however well intentioned. I've seen many reasonable people in other forums descend into argument and name calling once politics rears its head...

Wonder what would happen with 6 volt cars if they succeed in putting this junk on? Food for thought.

I agree with Homer - that is how we got rid of that proposed possession tax on cars ill thought about by one Dr Mawhinney. This was quickly replaced with a 25-year exemption, then Mr Brown sneakily changed it to the 1-1-73 cutoff date without telling us. :(

Slim - I don't usually eat in diners, so am I OK?

I think not, this is far too serious and important to ignore... 1984 is rearing its ugly head IMHO...
