Towing a car on a trailer

Post by deian »

Hi,

Does a car that get towed on a trailer need to be taxed in the uk? (since it is on the public road)?

Any articles to back the answer up would be great.

Thanks so much.

No it doesn't.

If you were towing with a dolly which leaves 2 wheels on the ground then it does have to be taxed & tested but not if you are using a proper trailer.

But I would advise covering the number plates up, I very much doubt that ANPR can tell the difference.
