Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

My Diaxia (hybrid Diag2000) screen is a tad dim in normal daylight and trying to read the screen is proving problematic in sunlight.

It's made worse by the fact there's two layers of screen protection that are stuck together with some sort of adhesive and over the years, has begun to peel away a bit like a poorly applied window tint, if you know...

Well, we don't use Perspex so no, it isn't.

I'll see if I can locate a sample and try it, we also have some Solvent #5 so I'll try that too.

It is kept in polythene containers so may not be harmful to other plastics although it does dissolve latex gloves rather well :shock:

Not sure what is going on with my PC(probably me :oops: ) but when i look at items on ebay i cant see any extra descriptions just a blank page scrolls down until i get to the usual payment bits and pieces.

Hello,
Just took my beloved 1996 N reg mk1 Clio 1.2 for MOT.
It failed on some trivial things.
headlight aim incorrect
both front wheels were buckled (due to driving over numerous potholes a few months back)
and one of the black plastic trims from the left side fell off.
Garaged asked £ 25 to fix all those
Other then those, the car Passed.

BUT...

They pointed out my headlight before and failed the car, then adjusted the beams and passed it, all in the 1 hour test time without charging for the adjustment. Seems odd to have to fail it but i dont think any adjustments can be done during a test.

I have been processing waste veg oil now since october 2009 and running my citroen xantia with it.
I reckon it costs me about 35p a litre to put it through all the filtering that is heating it up in 205 litre drums taking into account the cost of filters electricity and evrything else associated with cleanning and purchaseing the waste oil.

Cars from last few years has all extended their oil change intervals.
I've looked at the Laguna II dci engines, 18,000 miles interval!!!
04 Vectras 20,000mi!
New corsas 20,000mi!

When my 96 mk1 clio require 6000 mi interval, Personally, I change it every 4000-5000 if using semi syn.

Calling all Lexia2 owners. What are the limitations in respect of the newer cars. Can it interrogate OBDII-compliant cars at all, (presumably with restrictions) or does it simply not work with any of them?

Are there any limitations for pre-OBDII Citroens or does it fully work with all of them? ie Where is the cut-off point that Actia decided to...

I think that pin 4 is deliberately not connected as it iand pin 5 are ground pins on the car, and a ground-loop could damage the lexia if both were connected.

The internal pin number with a question mark above is actually O/C in my cable, but I am fairly sure it connects to (at least) the A/C ECU.

First time out in 8 months, a bit rough and ready. I jumped in and tried to drive the way I used to, and had a bit of a scare after 3 laps at the chicane. So I took it easy and kept it smooth for the rest of the night, lots more speed to be found next time out :D

Hello y'all
I'm taking my 1996 Renault Clio 1.2 MK1 to Brands Hatch circuit next week. I was wondering should i have my tyres changed before going, or should i bring those new tyres along with me and change them at the track when my current ones are completly destroyed?

The main problem is not the tread, but the sidewalls. Under hard cornering, the tyre tucks under the alloy. When my road tyres get down to the markers (Michelin PE2), I burn them off at the track. It's the side walls and shoulders that dissappear very quickly, and that's with a relatively low profile tyre with strengthened sidewalls. I also pop in...

Watching Watchdog the other night they featured a problem with Astra's, apparently if you turn the lights on the horn does not work. :shock:

So, therfore if you have an Astra you can't get the horn at night! :wink: :wink:

Anyone heard of this situation before?

Esure have written to me (signed for) saying the underwriters are asking for a copy of my log book to prove the correct owner of my Xantia.

This has set off alarm bells as it's not something I've ever been asked before - why are they doubting?

What's worse is they're threatening to put me on a Decline list...

Exactly. Ever since computerised databases were introduced, we rarely see such joined-up thinking Malcolm, despite the fact this is how they were sold to us. Seems it's easier for the underwriter to contact the broker who then sent a recorded delivery letter threatening me with blacklisting.

After a couple of evenings facking around with this car ive sorted it out, leaking injectors!! it is now running like a dream and can be given back to its owner and taken off my drive :lol:

Ok Chaps, :idea:

What would it you pay for your own brand new Xantia???

With the availablity of more affordable pattern parts, it must surely be possible to fully construct a complete brand new car. With probably the exception of the chassis, just about everything else can be sourced relatively simply from motor factors or specialist...

Oxford University researchers have discovered the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (symbol=Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312.

The wheel nut key for my Mk1 Xantia V6 spends its days rattling around in the drivers door pocket, fighting for space with ice scrapers, window wiping rags, old car park tickets and similarly useful items.

Thanks for your offer - we just need one of your reps to visit you with the parts, and the processes would be in motion! I need a radiator and condenser. Both slightly fragile but light enough. Biggest issue is parts suppliers there, generally require you to have a mailing address in mainland France. This is certainly true of Mister-Auto and...

Im trying to design a decent site and thought i could save some time by using word... But the results are uselss so im going back to notepad...

the problem is i am trying to get a pretty decent result with lots of word wrapping, text over colored box's and so fourth but can't find...

hi all. decided I need to LPG the V6, and add roof bars and possibly a tow bar :twisted:

From memory they started to introduce it around 2001 or so, although some 2000 vehicles are partly (wipers / lights) multiplexed, then they decided to do the whole car :D

A motorcyclist was charged with fraud after producing photocopy evidence DVLA had lost his bike licence.

Marcus Mee, 38, was accused of forging a photocopy of an old driving licence which appeared to prove the DVLA’s records were wrong because it included bikes.

In the second photo there's a mauritius blue xantia which I could do with nabbing the O/S wing from, and if it's got front fog lights, it's bumper too!
It's probably a 1.9TD so more environmentally friendly than the car it was scrapped to buy.
