Speaker Suggestions Wanted

Post by addo »

2-way 6½ inch, for the 405 parcel shelf. Not going to enlarge or reshape the holes.

Criteria - $150 landed with grilles, absolute maximum. That's 100 squid, ideally with no more than 50% being on post and packing. Reliable used stock is OK, if anyone has suggestions there.

Lowish power head unit, no sub fitted. Has to cover musical styles from baroque ensembles to trance. There's no restriction on physical depth (well, OK, about fifteen inches)!

Looks like US Fleabay has a good spread of stuff; typically post from there costs about $60-$70.

I'm open to suggestions and practical advice.

Cheers, Adam.

Coincidentally I have a pair of Infinity Kappa coaxial units that I've just swapped out of my Evo. I had the opportunity to buy some Polk high end units for cheap so couldn't pass that up !
The Infinity are great, and have had an easy life as the Evo is hibernated over winter, never used in the wet and garaged when not being used ! So I guess in the time they've been in the car they've been used on average about 3-5 months of the year ! Also, they've been used with a sub so have never had much bass through them.

Dunno what the post would be on them but you can have them for £30 the pair + post.

They are 6.5" and 2 way.

Are they the 62.9i? If so, we might well have to talk.

Pretty sure they are the 652.1i which is an earlier version and the 165mm DIN type. I'll confirm that tomorrow.
If your interested I'll weigh them up and work out the postage.

A local fellow has just popped up with some ex-display Soundstreams at $125, so I'll have to pass on your offer for now. (Of course, these ones might turn out to be utter rubbish and have me shopping again sooner than later.)

The newer 2-way Polks seem to have an awful lot of returned stock on US Fleabay: http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=polk+dxi650 Specs look good, but it had me wondering why so many sets were back on the market...

Cheers, Adam.
