Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Hi, my wifes 306 petrol, there is pressure in the exspansion tank when I take the cap off, when cold. is this right. just taken some air out of the system, would that be the problem? anybody got any ideas? cheers Terry.

I have found that several of my vehicles have managed to hold cooling system pressure for several days at a time. It just showed how well sealed the system was...

Basically, if the engine is not overheating, no coolant is being used and the coolant looks clean then I'd not tend to worry too much.

Following a 96,000 mile service by Robins and Day which was not completed, I noticed that on start up the display on the binnacle of my '04 Boxer 2.0 HDI kept saying the oil was high.
I drained a bit out, but some time later my fuel consumption has gone from an average of 28mpg to 15 mpg
I had another garage replace the fuel and air filters...

Have you actually checked the consumption by brimming the tank, just occured to me that if this happened at the same time as the oil read high maybe you have an electronic fault giving you a false reading, try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. I had this happen on a C5 fuel gauge.

I have noticed since on set of autumn last year that the car was fogging up really badly with the heater on. It became so bad that it was undrivable unless we had the air con running (not ideal at all in the winter, but it did the job of clearing the windows very quickly).

Hi guys, following the replacement of my tailgate last weekend I have founf that the heated rear window element wires are just floating above the glass (not making any contact). One side is ok but I can't work out if this contact needs to be glued or soldered to make the circuit. Any ideas please????

When I had this problem on my BX, I was advised to glue the connector into place using a glue designed for glass (to have the same thermal expansion properties as the glass) so I used an epoxy resin for glass (leaving an area on the connector and on the element clear). Evening chaps and chapesses; the title says it all really - my 206 HDI110 Sport has come up with Anti-pollution fault warning on the central display, at just coming up to 60,000 miles. Still starts and runs fine, and sometimes the warning goes away for a few days.

I've got a 2004 Peugeot Boxer SWB and Robins and Day charged me £1,093 to fit 2 rear leaf springs that I supplied. (£300)
I'm sure the cost of the tools to do the job myself would be a lot cheaper, but is this a job you can do on the drive, even with the right tools?

Hi gents, got a 1.9 turbocharged XUD lump here. Never had any problems, always used to run without any smoke, etc, etc. It now runs like in the video below:

I have recently got a peugeot 806 and it is a real pain to get it to start. When it was running yesterday the exhaust smoke had a whiteish appearance to it and it would not start today. hi my 306 cab has developed a fuel gauge fault.the low fuel warning light is always on even if i put £20 of fuel in.ive fitted different clocks but the fault is still there i have taken the multi plug of the sender /fuel pump and the light is still on surely that cannot be right if there is no power getting to the unit any :idea: folks

Take the sender out, put a multi-meter on the plug and move the float up and down. You should see the resistance varying as you move the float. If not, then faulty sender.

I must say that the car is a beauty from the outside and it has quite a punch under the hood.

Hi ! I've put at least a pint of fluid into the reservoir over the last month or so, yet there are no puddles ont he floor, and no oil round the engine bay. The pump is dry, and only grumbled slightly when the fluid level dropped.
Any ideas where its going ? I'm guessing that I'll find the relevant gaiter on the rack full of fluid.

hi all, bit of a problem with my 95 306 XLD, everything works except the dashboard lights, side lights or headlights (dip or main beam) ! i have tried 3 different indicator stalks but still have the problem, has anyone got any ideas ? could it be a relay or fuse i don't know about ?

I know the wiring you mean as its sat at the bottom of the bumper / radiator usually in a plastic flexi tube. I had no idea it was lighting power though either.

yeah it surprised me as well but it seemed obvious the wiring had to get to the inside fusebox somehow and the only loom is that one.....typical french stupidity i suppose :mrgreen:

Hi!

The wiring I can definitely help with!

These mirrors have three connections:-

a) White ign. controlled +12V fed from fuse 22 (lead B22A) in passenger fuse box in '406s, look up equivalent in your Citroen!
b) Grey to reverse-lamp supply (lead 220) from gearbox;
c) Black to earth (green/yellow M22A in '406s, may vary between Citroen models!)...

I own a 93' 205 1,6 automatic whit a XU5M3/Z/L and Maqneti Marelli Monopoint G6.

recently she as startet with something strange, at criuseing speed she runs uneven and the chek engine light comes on. When i accelerate she is just fine and the light goes away. Idle and starting is normal.

First things first i made a massive error by not checking anti freeze the other morning coolant was slush not frozen but like a slus puppy i left the car at home that day in the garage with heater on to try to warm things up when i got home coolant was back to normal

Thought I'd check this out in case if becomes a major issue...

When I started the 406 this morning, the little gear selector display was blinking in the R position despite it being in P. I put it in R then back to P and all was good again - solid dot in P. Sitting at the lights later on, put it in P and the little dot was blinking again, this...

The central locking stopped working on the driver front door. It started to play up abit using the remote. But if I lock the door with the key its fine. I can then use the central locking remote for the other doors then to.

So I take it the central locking motor gone or stuck or sumat?

The central locking motor is that part of the lock catch...

the first thing to look at on a 306 would be the wires between the body and door, broken/fractured wires here are very common on the 306,

might just be worth removing the door trim/card and squirting some duck oil into the lock mechanism before checking the wires though,

pug sell a repair section around £70ish quid which is the body side door...

Hello on my 306 hdi the heated rear back window fuse keeps blowin.

There just a 15amp fuse in there which must be wrong. But Im sure its ment to be something else which is correct?

Jim, I **think** its the only model where its inaccessible completely, I could be wrong and not sure why they hid it like that either compared to other models. I suspect a LHD one would be the same too as the column is probably the same.

My daughter in law's fuel gauge has stopped working---can anyone tell me if the wires to tank unit are accessible, or is it a tank off job, please ??

As above, accessible from under the rear seat. Will make the car stink of fuel though (petrol at least) if you remove said sender, especially if there's more than a bit of fuel in.

Early units had separate units in the tank, ie sender in one and fuel pump in the other, later ones have it all in one. You may still have two plugs under the rear...

We have two Peugeots... a 405 TD estate which is brilliant and a 806 HDI which is frankly dreadful. So far in the last year, i've spent about £1900 on bills.

The 806 now has another problem. I think it is the PreHeat Unit (1150) as i can just about read Webasto on the label.

Not 100% sure on if that is it, not up on the HDi's. The unit is provided to warm the coolant slightly as otherwise they can take an age to provide some heating due to their efficiency.

The clicking may be a relay located in the unit itself. Not sure on the squeal though.

With an eye on a February MOT, I think I'm going to have to replace the front discs on my xud engined 306 estate - no ABS.

In my mind this is not a terrible job but would appreciate some advice from someone who's done it before. I think:

Great, thanks. I had a look this afternoon and it all looks do-able. Only query was which pads to get - Euro car parts lists girling and teves - whereas my calipers say ATE. Looking at google, it seems that Teves may be the same as ATE so have plumped for those.

its started running rugh as a badgers ass - symptoms shouted ` coil pack` to me - so got a new one

but

its still doing it.

hesitant and juddery under light load.

can anyone help? my remote keyfob was broken, although it still unlocked my car but didnt lock ( which i did with the key ), so i bought replacement plastic cover which came with a new battery. i replaced battery and cover went to try it on my car and it wont start?? with the dash reading..... immobiliser fault?? an help would be appreciated....

It may have lost recognition of the key chip, but try the following if you have an hour free:

Put up all the windows except the driver's, pop the bonnet release, close and lock the doors. Don't arm the alarm if it has one.

After twenty minutes, lift the bonnet and disconnect the battery cables. Bridge them together through an instrument panel...

intermittent fault particle filter
particulate emission filter overload ????,
i presume this means is blocked,

P0180
intermittent fault fuel temp signal
short circuit to positive or circuit open

were would you highly techy types start with these or are they linked

First thing to do re the particle filter is to do a forced regeneration with Lexia, get the car up to running temperature and have over 1/4 tank of fuel in it, start the regeneration and stand well back from the exhaust as it'll feel like a furnace :wink:

If that doesn't clear it and the car has done over 100k miles it might be time for a new...

At first this worked fine (for about 20 mins) then when indicating just a solid light (no flashing) at both dashboard and indicators so I am having to click stalk on and off to get desired effect. Hope somebody on her can help me out. My brother in law has a 207 which has been a nightmare recently. It's just had a replacement engine due to the head gasket going on the old one and severely warping the head, and now the ABS block has died.

The interior switches were the speed setting and direction the bulbs have gone. But the cold heat one ok.

dash reports ESP off
ESP ECU analysed with PP2000 it reports 2 errors
1 intermittent fault absence of communications with engine ECU not characterized
2 intermittent fault absence of communications with engine ECU incorrect value received

Hi!

This looks like corruption of the software in the BSI unit itself I'm afraid! You'll need to get the Car's original 4 Digit Security PIN Code and use this in conjunction with Planet to do a functionsl check of the BSI Software and if necessary, reflash it!

I take it you've tried the BSI reset procedure to no avail?

Its normally citroens that is our cup of tea but this one came today and there more or less the same as a c5. So hear goes
put the ignition on and cant hear the pump going under the back seat to prime the system. so we have a pump multi plug connected to 12v power supply and we plugged this into the pump and still nothing.ok problem solved...

I might be thinking about adding a intercooler to my 306 hdi.

What gains or diffrences would I notice?

Also apart from fitting the kit what other things need changing a remap for it all to work properly?

Hi!

It came as no surprise whatsoever to discover the Navigation CD has disappeared from my new toy!!!

Can anyone advise me if an up-to-date Map Database is still available for this VDO-Siemens tackle?

I got one for my friend Mohammed's Rover 75 which uses VDO-Dayton Carin Non-ICQ (I think!!!) - is this one compatible with Pugshot CD Nav units...
