Changing gearbox oil on Peugeot 207...

Unread post by RussellF97 »

I'm wondering what peoples thoughts are on changing the gearbox oil on manual 'boxes.
My Peugeot 207SW, manual, has done 67500 miles and being no fan of everlasting gear oil, was thinking of getting it changed at 70,000 and it seems to need 2 litres of 75W-80.

Like chicken soup.

If it doesn't do any good it won't do any harm.

I generally get mine done when I buy another car - which isn't very often admittedly.

Nice easy one...
Use Total Transmission 8 gear oil, which is 75W-80 and importantly GL-4 spec.
Available easily at Cit/Peu parts counters, and elsewhere too.
Don't use GL-5 or 4/5. A good few other posts on this on the forum.

GSF sell Total Gear 8 75W80 for about £6 per litre.

Thanks for the replies folks. I'll add a couple of litres of Total Gear 8 to my shopping list for when I head back to the UK in a few days time.
