Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Just to confirm, you should be able to put near enough three fingers between the top of the tyre and the wing at the front wheels and 1 finger at the back wheels. Careful of your fingers mind.

Our Citroen C8 hates us. Electric sliding doors working fine then today daughter presses button to open and she get 3 beeps. I can open them by the front controllers but the back controllers fail to operate them. I plugged Lexia in and the fault is Initialisation fault . Is there a way to re initialise the doors?

The passenger side mirror on my C8 fails to fold in. I can only assume someone has hit it in the past hence it no longer retracts. I can still hear the motor trying to pull it in but without success. I've looked around the mirror and can't see any form of screw to remove the mirror to see the problem. Can anyone help on the removal of the mirror...

Hi,
My 2009 C5 VTR + Nav 2.0HDI drives perfectly well and recently stalls on idle or when clutching at lights/low gear.
It seems to drop to idle then stops engine. Only does it when idling.
Dont know if related but when starting car management light comes on. If you turn off and on again drives perfect. I now need to turn enition on twice every...

Can some 'bod' take a look at this please?

Is this mincemeat or is it easily repairable? I have a spare pump so no big deal but if tweaking that flange nut up can do the job then it will save me taking it off!

Car went in yesterday for mot and passed with three advisories the seatbelts slow retracting,suspension sphere on rear slightly detorated,corrosion on rear discs but the week before it had gone into have the anti roll bars replaced and a new tyre so it cost me £110 to get through mot very happy with that :-) .

Slow seatbelts are usually caused by accumulated grime on both the belt and its guides.
It's best to remove the trim and give the guides a good clean, as well as wiping the belts with soapy water.

Hi,
i was wondering if anyone else has had a rattling Auxillary Belt tensioner on their Xantia.
I have had this problem with more than one tensioner and have had three new ones fitted in the space of three years.
one was purchased on flea bay this rattled for about a week and settled down the last two have come from GSF
along with new tension...

well when i lase the engine bay in maintainance spray i always do the belt and spray the bearings and anything else...ive always done this with engine running and i have always had excellant service back from the motor :)

Trying to find out why the two spotlights don't switch on. According to the manual they do not work when the car is in economy mode but they don't seem to work even when the engine is on and running. Checked fuse (although unlikely as I assume it should be the same fuse for all the interior lights) and bulbs - again no problem. Unfortunately did...

The XM runs perfectly now! Certainly feels like it has got more get up and go. It's a lot smoother aswell. Almost as if the engine isn't connected to the passenger compartment.

The only problem I've got is with the ABS, the light won't go out. It does it's flickering when the ignition is turned on so I assume the ECU is doing something. The Lexia...

Has anyone attempted to fit a cheap set of reversing sensors to a C5 phase 11 05 to 07 VTR? how easy is it and do you wire up to the reverse light? And are these cheap ones on ebay any good? cheers

Is it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the parking sensores using Lexia? I have a C5 III and when I reverse down my drive they all go off. when I had the C6 they only sounded if I got too close to the wall. Thanks for any help :?

Have owned the dispatch for 4 years. Not a problemm 170,000 miles,just he norm service ,tyres etc.
Just after the down pour it would not start. Then 2 days later it started ran ok, tried on the next morning but on he evening nothing no ecu light , glow plugs but it will turn over..Any clues where to start

Not used it for a few days.

Got into it today, everything covered in a lot of condensation. Instruments dripping wet, carpets and seats damp. Pretty foul really.

Ok my MK1 had new track rod and new tracker Rod end and ball joint fitted. The car feels much tighter.

Problem is went for motorway drive and vibration was pronounced. It felt like the vibration I got when the brake were rubbing but the breaks were cold and I had new pads put on recently on one wheel. Anyway not that.

The wheel has no play...

Can't understand what's going on here! If the correct pads were fitted originally (or before you bought the car) there should have been no rust on the area swept by the replacement pads, so no rust interfering with them. (Used to get this problem with my BX REAR pads as the brake was seldom used (front/rear brake balance).) Also I had the tracking...

Hi,
I have a C4 VTR+ 1.6hdi on a 57 plate.
I had an injector leak and the cars been off the road for a couple of months whilst I cleaned it up and had the injectors refurbed.
Now it's all back together I have a wierd fault.
My electrics, dashboard, radio, lights, door locks, don't work if the glow plug relay is plugged in, something seems to be...

Hi all. Hope someone can help. Ive got a 55 plate C15 with glow plugs not coming on. I know the glow plug are fine, but for some reason the relay is not switching. At the relay there is a connector with 4 wires going to it. 1 is the earth, which is fine. There is 12v at another wire when the ignition is on. I think the problem is with the other 2...

with ours it was possible to just pull the junction forward enough to reconnect the leads
together working in the tight space between the back of the headlamp and the battery.

Sounds like you've had a bad experience; sorry to hear that.
My one experience was of a 1.4 HDi used as a loan car by a certain Derbyshire-based independent specialist, well known to this parish.
It had clocked up over 300,000 miles, and drove very nicely, so they can't ALL be that bad :-)

I've just returned from having my C5 Tourer serviced and noticed a comment on the advisory that there is 1 wheel bolt missing from each wheel. I've just phoned back and waiting for them to call me but wondered if this is something I need to sort out quickly or is it not a major issue?

I'm guessing the latter as they did not mention it.

Why would a Citroen garage be remotely interested in a plastic wheel bolt cover? It's not part of any service.
Did they advise you that there are any paint chips on the car? Any scuffs on your alloys?
Just don't understand this one at all. :?
As you have an X7 Tourer, you will have 5 bolt wheels I presume but even so, if it was an actual bolt...

When the car is locked after about 5-10 minutes the dipped lights turn on and windshield wipers start. :?:

When I press the remote lock (even the car is locked) wipers stop and headlight off.
In order to see what's happening I got in the car and locked the doors. Cabin lights turn off,
and after a while I hear the system turns off and ECU goes...

As RichardW and myglaren suspected the battery was low. The battery health gauge was resting on the low part and moved to its normal position with some delay. Then I checked the battery eye and the green color was gone :(
I bought a new battery and replaced it. It didn't cure the problem.

Hi folks! nice forum :)

I have a Xantia hdi 90 estate which I have owned for 4 days now. Picked it up from cumbria the other day and drove it back down to Lancashire (Darwen) with no fuss drove lovely.
After about 50 miles the amber engine light with a K came on (anti pollution?) didnt really notice anything but the throttle daid feel a bit...

I'd go along with likely faulty lift pump in the tank, look for very fine brass dust in the fuel filter housing. Your symtoms almost identical to mine when lift pump failed.

Take care when checking this. You must not allow any debris to fall into the body of the filter housing, some people take the complete filter housing off the car and change...

Failed MOT - Supplementary Restraint System warning lamp indicates a fault

I've removed the connecting plugs and directly connected wires under both seats but it's still not having it.

I think I've read somewhere that you can put some resistors in line to solve this, any one done this?

I've been to look at another Xantia but it needs a clutch. Its a pull type with an auto adjusting cable.

Its done a fair few miles but worth doing I think.

Are there any secrets- pitfalls to look for? Reading up on them (what I can find) a new cable will need fitting at the same time, as the rachet can't be reset, can it?

My neighbour had a peugeot diesel and bought three cables from GSF all of which failed one after the other

Hi

This is a correction for my post about a leaking union. I fount out that it is the front anti sink valve that is located below the Doser. I detached it and found out the there is an O-ring that causes the leaking. Can this O-ring be bought from Citroen ?

The car is Citroen Xantia 2.0 16V automatic make year 2000

Its possible but its no more likely to than a 1.9, they blow gaskets as well at about the same mileage. As Pauls says, if they used laminated steel gaskets on them they could well last longer. The Hdi engine uses the laminated gasket and I have one that has done 216,000 miles without needing a replacement.

Hi,
My son went through a big puddle on Friday. It turned out to be deeper than he thought ( he travels this road every working day ). The resulting wave tore off some of the silly plastic clips which hold the exhaust guard up, which then fell, digging into road.
His main trouble is that the suspension will not rise at all. We have checked for...

It happened to me again...

This time it's the pipe to the front activa cylinder that burst. And again LHM on the road. For the fourth time now in 8 months.

Will it ever end? :x

At least I change LHM every 1000km. :lolhit:

Yes it was one of those flexi pipes... A pebble came between the pipes just above the activa cylinder and it was stuck there for who knows how long. It slowly cut through the pipes until the inevitably happened...
I believe that the routing was correct and I couldn't find the correct routing on your website.

I had some trouble unscrewing one...

My C5 1.6hdi Estate has developed a curious fault, being that the front windscreen wipers start to operate at random while the car is stationary, locked and alarm set (ie. immobilised). When the car has been parked for a while inevitably the battery becomes flat. On one occasion the alarm activated while the wipers were working intermittently but...

You know I don't even know what model. Had alloys and cruise control etc. The car was tight and engine good but to tell you the truth I thought I hear knocking in the drivers rear. Having had trailing arm issues in C5s it stood oit BUT there is no telling some women! ; )

I would change the oil at no more than 10000 miles or a year, if not sooner, and use the oil that is recommended, it's the most important thing to do on these. Otherwise decent cars, I love mine

I would halve that mileage. As it is a simple DIY job it won't break the bank.
A lot cheaper than a cabbaged turbo either way.

Good morning All,

Over the past couple of weeks a low level hum has been coming form the engine bay. The general area is driver's side of engine aux belt area. I suspect possibly a bearing but which one.The nose increases slightly with speed. It is not the front wheel bearing as I can hear at idle,car standing still.

Any thoughts :?:

Well, finally finished the turbo change and everything works great except that the front suspension doesn't go up and down. Rear suspension is fine.

Do you think something needs to be reset? Could it be related to the anti-roll bar which I took off when I removed the front sub-frame?

I discovered another Xantia rust area and the cause of the rot too!!

Inside the passenger wheel arch, mainly on S1 cars, as S2 cars had a slightly better cover, though its NOT immune, theres a small square Grommet that covers a Cill Internal Inpection Hole!

This grommet wears away I suspect from constant water battering and crap, resulting in...

My td front fog lamps suddenly stopped working after being fine the week before. Just checked the bulb holder and plug at the holder. Getting 12v at the plug but no earth. Why would this suddenly break. Am thinking it's either the earth connections to the inner right wing near the battery or am I better just wiring in fresh earths? Anyone else had...

Short lived euphoria. 2 miles down the road they stop working! Rechecked the earth wire in the headlight. It's ok. So not that then. Looks like previous comment about not taking the amps is true as I got 12v at the bulb but the bulb didn't illuminate - hot wired earth and on it came. Anyway wired in new earths to the 13 mm bolds on the slam panel...

Hi

In my Xantia the hydraulic pipe 4 way union is leaking ( Citroen part number 5280 N8 it is leaking the supply piping to the streeing gear). I didn't detuch it but it looks that there is a cap that is leaking. Can it be fixed or a new one should be bought ?

Uk rhd cars are setup slightly different.. citroen instead chose to make the pas pipe one single pipe right round from the pump across the engine bay to the right side chassis runner to the back of the engine bay and then down to the front edge of the subframe and across to the pas pinion.. so a uk car might not help you here..
