Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Only got a quick glance but yesterday I spotted what I think was a mauve GS and a cream Ami in convoy driving through Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands...I was travelling in the opposite direction in heavy traffic.... I wonder if anyone on here knows them or even if they come on here themselves??

Just been learning about multiplexing / CAN on a training course.

All I can say is what a wonderful system CAN is.

Once it has been explained to you how it works, How easy it is to test with a multimeter & all the benefits CAN gives you I can honestly say I will never have a non CAN car again.

On sunday, whilst at work( for the ambulance service) we came across a huge cloud of smoke, across both sides of the dual carriage way. At the centre of this was 3yr old td laguna parked on a slip road with its throttle stuck fully open.
It actually belongs to my mate, who's wife was driving it at the time. She had two dashboard lights come on,...

It seems that more and more of our forums are being taken up with trying to solve complex elec gremlims... :-(

Having read someones comment that they would remove the air con and chuck the lot in the bin -- Could this be done with ECU stuff? remove and dump the lot in the bin? :D

I work in an electronics factory and I'm not sure that we could get the bits on an ECU for £20. Having said that, we deal mostly in low volumes and don't have the buying power of a car manufacturer. There are program writing costs too.

Apparently the cosmetic damage to the paintwork (scratches) does not affect the speed of the car ! :D

I reckon you could easily buy and run a CX or DS, or possibly even SM, for the money involved in a new-ish prestige car. The depreciation and servicing money could easily keep a Citroen in tip-top condition and reliable, especially with the amount of time modern cars seem to spend in garages getting gremlins sorted out.

They are still selling the 504 in Nigeria, although the shape of the lights does alter the appearance of the front end, and makes it look worse.

Also the estate as we knew it, has a model title like the current range, they have called it the 504 SW

In years gone by, Citroen used to advertise quite strongly that their hydropneumatic suspended cars could suffer a blowout without any loss of control. They produced impressive video footage demonstrating the point on cars like the venerable GS and BX.

Today, however, you never see this referred to, which surprises me. So, would my C5 react...

This BX below was used as a stunt vehicle for an advertisment for Chrispy crisps at the International Stunt Festival.

Apparently the stunt went wrong, so I hope the stuntman gets better soon.

Wonder why they chose the BX for this stunt ?

Any ideas on where the RF reciever is located on a Xantia? After my IR plip finally giving up the ghost I am not going to bother playing around with the Infa Red plip and reciever anymore. I have a cunning plan as baldrick would say, but first I need to find the elusive RF/UF/HF reciever. Many thanks - Anthony.

Hi, my dads got a problem with his cylinder head. The car starts fine, but after about 2mins, the exhaust starts steaming like a kettle. Clean white steam, no trace of oil. A mechanic friend has said the head has probably cracked. :cry:
He only needs the car to last for another 6-8wks until he can get a new one. He's heard of a fluid which can...

Hello I have used something called K - seal and it sealed a badly leaking head gasket on a BX 16V, it was meant to be a temperary thing untill the gasket could be replaced. That was a year ago and no problems. Be worth a try.

Do you think modern, mid > large family cars, look like they have been designed as a Estate first then choped back to form the Hatch/Saloon models?
Take a look around & you'll notice how much better the estates look.
Examples of this are;

Citroen C5, Vauxhall Vectra, Audi A6, Volvo V70

All these look, IMO, like they were 'ment' to be estates....

The bonfire guy must be really stupid not to notice that the feedback only counts once for each member that leaves feedback. Both IDs are no longer registered with eBay now.

When these listings were found the IDs were still current, so it appears that eBay has (so to speak) attended to them, and has done the right thing, and got rid of the time...

Hi,

I can't seem to get the search function to work correctly:
If I for example search for 'xantia hdi' and select 'Search for all terms', I get 113 hits and the 6 threads in 2006 are from Apr 22, 23 and 24.

That can't be right! Only 6 threads containing xantia and hdi in 2006, and all in the last few days?

A search for xantia returns 1661 hits...

Hi All,

Just thinking my car could probably do with a polish and wax soon as the paint work is looking a little tired.

There are also a few light scratches which are down to the undercoat and therefore slightly white on the roof, so ideally I'd like to clear these up a bit.

Was wondering if these colour replacement wax products are any good?...

Windows are easy and cheap to get shiny- just dilute some vinegar in water, put it in one of those cheapy hand sprayers, spray it on the glass, wipe it over, and rub it with screwed up newspaper.

They will gleam like they've never done before 8)

Meant to add, scratches down to the primer can be dealt with by using the cheapo smart fix: kids wax...

As i`m selling my BX estate on e-bay soon it has mot till nov and 5mths tax,i hav noticed that a lot of cars on e-bay are sold with no tax, so am i in a better postion to sell if i leave it taxed or should i sorn it and just leave the mot on it?

Factor the road tax into the price you want - make it clear in the advert that there is a minimum you will take for the car - sans tax, and a desired amount where the tax would be included - offer to negotiate the tax on the final price if it does not hit your minimum.

E.g. I just sold my ZX on eBay - I wanted £500 for the car including the road...

just bought a hdi tuning box from germany and fitted it the tuning box was 99 eurs in enlish money £70 post is 18 eurs £12 the box and the help from the guy called andre is great very help full the fitting instructionc are in english also come s with a 14 day money back warrnty is you dont like it 2years full warrnty on the tuning box if you email...

Today I travelled up the M1 from junction 15 to 33 & back again to collect something I won off Ebay.

On the northbound trip I spotted TWO, not one but TWO Laguna IIs & 1 early Scenic broken down on the hard shoulder.

On the southbound return trip I spotted one early Megane broken down.

Now what does this tell us about Renault reliability...

The 'specs' enforcement camera's have been in use at roadworks on the North bound side of the M42 after J10 at roadworks for some weeks untill recently. Just to be different...I think they are better than the Gatso type because you don't get the 'slam on the brakes' at the camera scenario and anyway... how do you get drivers to stick to the...

Hi guys been looking for a xsara or c5 estate diesel. Now a towbar firm i know says don't get a c5 everyone who comes in for a towbar moans about faults and problems with the c5 just wondered if anyone here can give me there opinion on the c5 are they trouble would i be better going for the xsara or sticking with a xantia like i have now.

The c5 is multiplexed, like the later 406, current 307 and various other cars.

All of which seem to have major problems with the electronics. To me, that's far too much of a co-incidence.

Personally, I don't think PSA have quite worked out how to make a multiplex system on a car that actually works properly.

Get something with a proper wiring...

i must admit, citroen have hit it right on the head with this hydractive suspension business,

how on earth other manufacturer haven't cottoned on to this technique?

I know many are sceptical, but a after reading a few articles and a few hours on a forum, it will be plain clear that it's just basic hydraulic/pneumatics that works well, and above...

Having had a really good look at what would be involved fitting 407 jets to a ZX I have come to the conclusion that the best way to do it would be to drill holes and fit Xsara jets on top of the bonnet in the usual place. :roll: :?

Personaly I will keep the existing ones on the ZX for the time being.. But will change those on the Peugeot 306 for...

Update.. The back of the jet (furthest from screen when in place) is held in by an upside down shaped plastic 'tick'.. The short leg restricts it from moving downward. So I cut about a 64th of an inch off of it, and that has allowed the back edge to move downward, thus raising the position that the water from the jet hits my screen.. It works fine...

I still think that the Cit ZX 1.9 diesel pre 1994 facelift was one of the most reliable cars ever built. :D After 14 years, mine is still in better condition and more reliable than some two year old cars on the road when I first started driving... The fact that there doesn't seem to be a comparable replacement for it is a worry though, :? but...
