pics of you

Unread post by deian »

not car chat as such, but i'm wondering what we all look like?... job, age, location and the like.... not personal info but u know... curiosity killed the cat and all that.... i've always wondered what AndersDK and Mandrake look like.

What is the average age of us here? I'm 26, and still live with mommy and daddy! :(

I haven't got any recent pics (that I would like to put up!!), but I'm 27, live with my wife and my two girls, eight and six.

Between them and the cars, I don't have time for much else!

Me? The cars you know about

I'm 47, an utterly devoted dad to two girls, 12 and 14 and stepdad to a daughter of 24 and a son of 22 who run a Civic and a Nissan 200SX respectively :?

SWMBO teaches people to drive in a C3 HDi whilst I earn enough to feed the brood and support an Activa habit looking after IT Hardware for a large world-wide organisation. I was formerly an HF radio engineer, a trade now more or less obsolete   I stall miss radio, especially kilowatt transmitters and large aerial arrays. IT just does not give me the same buzz :( I get that from French cars nowadays

I've done spells overseas, notably long stays in Cyprus in the early 80s and Australia (Darwin) in the early 90s. Our 14 year old daughter was born there.

A couple of pictures of me have appeared in this very forum along with Xac and TehAgent here...

http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... highlight=

My other passion, after my family who come first always, is vintage radio and audio. I have a small collection of vintage radio sets, most of which are in regular use. I have a great passion for valves of the sort used in radio. For any fellow enthusiasts of this pastime, I'll be at NVCF (National Vintage Communications Fair) this Sunday, the annual gathering place for like-minded souls, a Beaulieu Autojumble for radio...

I have been trying to learn to play electric guitar for the past 7 years and I'm still rubbish but do have a nice vintage Fender Stratocaster and vintage Fender Champ amp.

Family holidays are enjoyed in a touring caravan, ably tugged by the TD, usually in the New Forest, a part of the country we love and hope to one day retire there.

Never a dull moment!

Ooh err - you seem to have set a bit of a President here Jim! Perhaps I should expand on my description a little!

I currently work as a Pharmaceutical Dispenser at Marazion in Cornwall (a lovely place to be cooped up in!), giving out drugs to all the retired folk there.

My wife is training as a Secondary School PE teacher, and has a couple of years training left.

I am about to leave work to start training as a Pharmacist in September. Which (hopefully!!!) will all work out OK.

Found some pics

A pic of myself and the better half (Gemma) at our wedding last year.

A pic of us with all three little ones. The two eldest, Jade (8 ) and Aleasha (6) are from a previous relationship, but live with us, and Menna (2) is also from a previous relationship, but lives with her mum. All I can say in my defence is that I had a mis-spent youth! I love them all dearly though!

I am also about to set up my own little company called Collins Computers, which, if it works out OK will help us out while we're both at College and Uni. It's just a little upgrade/repair etc etc service.

Well, I hope that I've redeemed myself :D

Good on 'yer Lee :D

Hope all goes well with the business :) . Computers I don't like. As Elton John said in Rocket Man, "It's just my job, 5 days a week..."

Over the time I've been looking at this forum, I've built up quite a picture of us fellow members, especially those of us who post frequently and if this thread really takes off, it'll be interesting to see if my "picture" agrees with reality.

We mostly seem to be technically orientated, often from an engineering background and primarily, extremely pleasant people, certainly that has applied to three members I have had the pleasure to meet.

Speaking of meeting, would there be any interest in organising a forum "get together"? I know we're from all four corners of the UK (and the world) but I reckon it would be a good day out.

I'm Andy, 30 for my sins have a crazy south african girlfriend who thinks she can drink everyone she meets under the table (she probably could).

I'm a IT support guy by trade, recently gave up the comfort of a permanent job to go contracting, so Gordon Brown is not my favourite person at the moment *rassum frassum budget*

In my spare time, I'm either annoying Shani by spending time on the internet, working on getting my 1.9TD back on the road, or airsofting which involves hanging out in some woods with young men, spraying white stuff at each other...
Perhaps I could put that another way :D
Airsoft is like paintball, only without the paint, or the bruising, and we don't need marks to show when we've been hit, we've got something called honesty ;)

Here's a pic of me in action:

1.9TD SX Xantia Hatchback (Jenny) running on 100% veg for sale

Phil, 34, married, no kids, Electrical/Software Design, Commissioning and Support Engineer for special purpose test and assembly equipment in the automotive industry (wheel and tyre assembly kit is my speciality - machines that fit a tyre every 6 seconds).

Currently waiting for a Hernia operation (hence drive the Auto), but spend my spare time (not a lot of it..) rebuilding (and seriously upgrading) a Reliant Scimitar SS1.

ur on the right track, i make cable trunking products for a cable manufacturing company who also do aluminium power poles and bench trunking, and wire trays... not a bad job, but it keeps me ticking over, there might have to be some changes if life goes serious over the next couple of years... marriage, house, dare i say it kids too

i like computers and technical stuff... i'm not such a normal person, if i'd have my own way i'd end up a little eccentric, but my egyptian gf has her head screwed on thankfully

nice to see such a good response!
