Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Delivering a much pampered 605 to Melbourne in a few days, via the back roads.

Quick quessie:

On these blocks, is the bellhousing bolt pattern and flywheel offset different to XUD series motors - or can you fit an XUD gearbox onto a DW series engine?

Yes, I've had my first accident in 4 years of driving :(

I came up to a main roundabout and had read it before the fellow in front of me. Went to pull out and shunted him.

No damage to the Activa at all but his car had a cracked bumper, rear light cluster and a small dent on the corner of the boot hatch.

Chaps, can someone answer me something in plain english :?

If i am insured on cars for the last 13 years, sometimes one policy, sometimes 2 and recently a multi-vehicle policy.. what happens about building NCB ?

would the seperate vehicles all get their own, or do I as a driver earn 1 Year maximum - for any insured year without a claim?...

Is it a common problem on an Xantia, to find the filler neck mounting bracket for the washer bottle broken where it mounts on the inner wing?

I noticed recently a car in a scrap yard with the same problem, it appears to be weak in that area, so is there a mod or repair that can be done to fix it?

these guys ( built a monstor on a ROLLS ROYCE chassis a few years ago with a MERLIN lump in it, that was definatly spit and fire whilst running,

they showed it off at the last BEXHILL 100 but only ran the engine every time they collected i belive 75 quid for a local pet charity,

although i cant see it on there web site

Its getting to the stage of my 14year old sons education where he needs to make decisions on what he wants to do for gainfull employment in the not so distant future :) :)

I bought a chinese lexia very reasonably priced and have spent the whole day trying to set it up on my vista pc.
I went with Jims idea of using virtual machine, but sadly after installing Xp and Lexia i have found it does not support USB!
Anyone have any ideas how to get usb support in virtual machine?

Took a detour to Autos and Sons at Bottisham near Cambridge today.

A couple of new Xantias since my last visit.

The white mk2 is a 2.1 Exclusive, with black electric leather seats. The drivers seat has a bit of scuffing, but I think they would clean up OK, and he will take £60 for the set of seats if you remove them yourself.

My silver Xantia is just siting around while i get some money together to get her ready for the Nct (mot),thing is the tax is up in 2months but i dont want to pay €600 quid tax just to keep her siting around,so is there anyway i can stop the tax :?: ..I previously got a form but the only way the tax could be stopped was if the car was off the road...

Some of the systems over in Old Ireland seem a bit strict compared to here. I had a 4.2 Diesel which I took over to Ireland when fishing. The local guys told me it was prohibitively expensive to have a car that size over there due to the tax.

Reckon I've figured out why Peugeot/Citroën vehicles almost never misbehave when there's a mechanic in them.

During their training, PSA microchips every technician. Like ignition keys, this microchip works on proximity to the (same) transponder. When within five feet of the unit, it sends an elevated alert to the various ECUs. This means the...

Due to people being busy on Mothering Sunday, this has been postponed until later in the year.

few months ago, while juggling with a V6 engine, Jim let slip that he has never been to the Duxford Imperial War Museum . So if he is off Citroens for a few weeks, it seems like a good opportunity to rectify the situation.

Yup i would go with the Berlingo as well. I had a Berlingo to do courier work for a few years and It never missed a heartbeat and had plenty loading space. Ant witht the Berlingo that aint that much in it to go wrong to be honest. :D

I think this is a seriously short-sighted scheme that is just meant to artificially pad the flagging economy and shovel a few quid into the car makers pockets.

One brighter note to the slump is that SAAB are pushing to become an independent manufacturer again and free themselves from the dreaded GM shackles.

On Thursday, loaded up from Auchan and in their car park, nothing from the starter. Family and I bumped it, then did so twice more whilst showing the in-laws around Tobacco alley in Belguim. I needed another motor pronto (ferry home Sat afternoon) so had to buy another at €300. Hence Ouch!
I only paid £70 for the after-market predecessor, mind you...

Not just applicable to French cars but important nonetheless.

When vat was reduced to 15% in January 2009 the chancellor levied an extra 2p per litre of fuel, to compensate for the loss of revenue from the vat reduction.

Now that vat has now gone back to 17.5%, guess what, the extra 2p is still there!

Don't let them get away with it.

I'm really thinking hard about buying a setup - word will get around and I can hire it for beer money or leave it with a trusted indie parts dealer.

What I'd like to know, is ideal specs for a standalone laptop to host the software. Then I'll be able to keep the thing as an independent package.

make sure you get the full kit with all the leads if you plan on doing older citroens, software isnt so much of a problem as there are loads of places to download it, you just need the actia interface and leads

Looking in Wikipedia, I found this paragraph in connection with the Xantia:

A friend took his car the for a service (first and last probably) and he had to take it back as it left a huge oil puddle on the drive. The oil filter had not been tightened up.

Reminds me of the time my brother allowed a national chain to change his oil. They drained the (auto) gearbox and then put the recommended amount of oil in the engine...

I was dreaming earlier today of which french car if time and money were no object would you nut and bolt restore and then drive ? I mean, total strip down and rebuild to better than new condition? New paint, engine out, complete job.

For me it would have to be as follows:
Series 1 Xantia V6 in black / Dark Blue

W126 SE L long wheel base's had rear leveling - Also some Jag XJ, but I think that was Jag's own design..

The Rolls system does uses Citroen Spheres as we know, however rear struts are upright, and the rear spheres are hidden in the boot..

I know this from the Tv Series The Garage on Discovery, as they had a Rolls in, no idea which, cant...

Hi, does anyone know much water is used in the manufacture of a car? This should include quantities used in the manufacture of components. I remember reading about it in the1970's and it was quite a high figure.

Citroen has released official images and info on it's next car in the new DS line (as in Different Spirit, not Déesse)

It's called the DS High Rider. The design does take some cues from the DS3, but this is a much sleeker car. Unlike the DS3, the High Rider has no b-pillar, the fenders are more flared, and the roof has a steeper rake. Citroen...
