I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

After looking for a C5 II for a month and not really finding one that suited me I have now ended up with a Peugeot 407. Looking forward to having a play with it later as I've not had time yet. Hi all,

I'm sure this will have been asked before but a search didn't get menthe answer i wanted.

How well do the HDi engines do on biofuels?

I'm getting another oil burner soon and would like to make running them as cheap as I can. I'm willing to buy bio fuel but I'm more interested in a diy set up if it's usable and financially viable.

If you mean straight veg oil then no chance.

If you mean well made and cleaned biodiesel then it should be fine.

Swap the fuel filter after the first tank and then after 3 more tanks or less as it will clean the system out, so maybe check the intank pump filter as well.

Add some 2stroke oil every few tanks as it helps to keep seals and bits...

After years of having my car serviced at the dealers, in the last few years I have found myself with 4 cars to look after, so have gone back to doing it myself. Lately I always seem to have a problem getting the filter off. With daughter no.1's Clio Mk2 Ph1, I bought a chain wrench, which would not fit between the filter & the subframe! Got it off...

Just like cars built before 1973, from April 1 2014 a vehicle manufactured before 1 January 1974 will be exempt from paying VED. That means, come 2014, you don't have to pay road tax on cars that were built through '73, so there's a new wave of classics that avoid the unfortunate task of handing over up to £1065 in annual taxes. =D>

Or, how not to clearance the oil splash baffle on your TU3 motor by bending it down instead of up. :roll: Every blooming tappet screw was rapping against the underside of the baffle when it was all assembled together.

Is there any way I can plug in a set of Saxo instruments into my 106 (they actually plug in and function apart from the speedometer as best as I can tell but I know that is a one wire change in most cases) and adjust the mileage with my Lexia ?

I'm trying to help a friend purchase a second hand card, her basic criteria is Comfy, affordable (to run) and reliable. oh and it must be an Auto!

2.2hdi can get a decent enough MPG.

Just get the DPF deleted and then get it bashed out as well. Stay on top of servicing and do the filters and fluids at 6k not the silly 12k citroen suggest or every 6 months as the cost isn't that much.
An SX or Exclusive could be had, cheap leather thrown in as well for comfort as the heat option could help...

Spare pump testing

So I've had a spare Bosch TUD pump floating around my shed ( not literally obviously :P ) for a good six maybe ten months. I grabbed it when I saw it as (1) Bosch pumps do not seem common on these (2) I wanted a mechanical advance spare anyway not like the one I have and (3) I recall it was cheap.

I'd de-armoured it (it came from a keypad model...

I got my paws on an ultra sonic bath and have been meaning to try a DIY injector refurb for some time now. As the head is currently off the engine now seemed like a good time! Injectors are on 185k, and have done the last 25k on WVO. I say Hillbilly as I don't have a pop tester and I haven't purchased new nozzles. However, ensuring I re-assemble...

You get back in a hydropneumatic car after being stuck with coil springs for a while!

I've noticed that owning a Xantia has made me more aware of ride quality, I feel that I'm always thinking mm comfy, but I wonder if my centre spheres need replacing .

In other news, my car is mobile again, not long until she'll be legal for another year.

I had a spring brake on me a couple of years ago with a Seat, hit a sharp bit with a loud bang. Luckily it was able to be driven away, but if they go through your tyre at speed ... I'd much rather have a failed strut top!...

Status update:
Just filled up on fuel, 61 liters used to do 612 miles... working out at 45.6mpg
That's with my normal driving, with a couple of episodes of 'spirited driving'.
So basically in line with my usual average mpg, that sounds like a win to me, more power without any mpg loss.

Driving wise still very happy, definitely nicer to drive...

I've got the use of 2 cars....an 03 C5 2.0hdi or 01 306 2.0hdi.....both are in the same decent condition ect with decent mot's ect, and cost the same to run, tax and insure...but I need to sell one

I've just been watching a documentary called A303 Highway to the Sun . It's a good watch for those who are familiar with it, very much a poetic look at the road which I liked. The music on the ending credits surprised me, a band called Kula Shaker wrote a song about it.
