Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Getting closer to departure for France, and about time finger was removed from orifice when it comes to breakdown cover for the trip.

Can't get it from Green Flag, as the car is over 16 years old, so does anyone know what my options might be? Apart from a long walk home.

Ive been putting the posh stuff in my 95 xantia 1.9 td. The total excerlince one. What ever its called at 145.9 i think. The normal stuff cost 137.9.
I havernt nticed any differnce. Ive only put 30 pund in. Same as what i normally put in.
I remenber putting it in my 406 1.9 diesle. It seem to rev higher. And it did seem to accerate a bit quicker....

I always keep an eye out on how many left rgarding numbers of Zx16v's that are left on the road/sorn , the latest numbers are 18 registered for the road for this quarter down from 22 for the last quarter and 34 on sorn which is 6 down on the last quarter,these are getting to a very low level now and finding body related parts for the 16v proving...

Got to work and parked in front of wall, left in gear with engine running and you guessed it took foot of the clutch.

I have received the HDi calipers bought from GadgetGricey and they (inevitably, after twelve years in the UK) need a refurb. There is a sample of their original finish under the handbrake boots; I am not sure if its cadmium or passivated zinc.

I'm assuming their parent metal is large and soft enough that hydrogen...

ok, not long to go b4 we go to France and thought I'd better do a quick survey of what I should be taking paper-work wise.

What I have in mind is to take reg document, insurance docs, breakdown cover docs. Tax disc is obviously in the car. E111 for health reasons plus insurances for that sort of thing too.

Any of these I should NOT take?...

am viewing on the netbook, no settings have been changed, used to be like normal but recently has changed to view like this,

Still cant work out why my air con had leak and appears to have sealed it's self up. I'm sure it's the O ring but as it's still working don't really want too touch it although it means the front under tray which is still in the garden needs to be refitted i guess i will have to put it back on this week. What is everyones opinions on the rat loud popular with the vw crowd think since my car is worth scrap all due to the fact it has 207,000 miles even being a diesel its still seen as not worth anything. Lets say you removed the FAP from a later HDi unit, are you not by doing this (technically) increasing over time its emission output so it should go into a higher road tax band ?

And the same for say an indirect engine where replacing an electronic controlled pump with an earlier mechanical one.

Yes you are correct about that. There is no mechanism in place in the UK for a car to ever have its CO2 emissions reassessed for RFL purposes, a VIN lives and dies with the same official CO2 emissions...

I have a old coded immboilers in my xantia. There doesnt seem to be any pattern. For when i need to put the code in againe. For example went in a petrol station. For a couple of mins in and out. Needed to re code it. Then went in to a shop evern longer. And i didnt have to recode it. Its wierd.

Not sure about you lot, but I find the keypad immobilisers an annoyance. No one is going to nick an S1 Xantia these days anyway. I'm so glad the one on RUNN has been disabled! Now I just want a coin tray then I can dispose of the thing altogether and actually use the space it takes up..

The FCF banner at the top of the page is wrong - if mimicking the tricolour. The colours should be, left to right, blue, white red. Assuming the flag is flown from a pole, of course.

Hello French car enthusiasts! :)

I would like to ask you for a favour. As you can hear in the video, my car is producing metal rattling noise when turning slightly to the right. Usually when I take my foot off the gas pedal in higher RPM. The video is taped when driving up to the hill.

You can hear it in the video, but I think headphones are necessary . It is mid-higher frequency rattling sound ~1000Hz.

And just to clarify this thing. This rattling noise in somehow connected to the wheels because it goes away immediately without any delay...

A change of circumstances means that my XJR has to go :(. It is to be replaced by something that is more affordable to someone looking to get into their first house ;)

I'm looking at a variety of cars but just cannot decide on what to go for. I'm not very familiar with the later 16v HDi units in the 407 and C5 II so would appreciate some comments...

Well I managed to fit it in around work.

I will post pictures in a thread tomorrow but I now own a 2001 Xantia HDi 110. 112k so not huge mileage for a HDi. Green, not Emerald - still need to find out its name but its lighter than Emerald - with 12 months MOT. Being 2001 registered (has an early 2000 RP number) it qualifies for cheaper tax so only...

I was sat outside our local shop yesterday when a B W reversed into the back of me lurching me forward a couple of feet. I suggested to the driver of said B W that at the least a apology was in order at which point he denied he'd hit me at all, saying it was impossible because his car had parking sensors.

He even tried to point them out to me...

Renault is trimming the fat from its UK line-up, following plummeting sales figures over the last few years. From February, no fewer than five models will be axed, leaving some notable gaps in the range.

as i been looking to upgrade suspension on my Peugeot 307hdi to coil-overs. But they are hard to find.
