Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

interesting way to do it, the saxo lump to AX was quite common in the Front of the car!! :-D
was a guy long time back that popped an Mi16 in an AX, that thing would shift, just not very good on the bends due to a gearbox poking half way out of the wheelarch! ;-)

Just make sure the satnav regularly receives updates, otherwise you could still get caught out (and you still could be, by handheld or mobile speed cameras). Cheaper older Garmin's like mine only have the original camera's database, so are now way out of date.

Was quite refreshing to see that they remember their roots...

Would of been easy for them to put a new model from the DS range on it but it's nice to see they (someone in head office) remember(s) the old stuff too :)

Just replaced my 2 front tyres with a pair of Dunlop Blueresponse. I found them really noisy to the point that I have now swapped them for the slightly worn back tyres with a different tread pattern. At first I could not understand what had happened so went down the pit and checked the underside out to see if I had lost a panel, thats how...

Was checking out the price of tyres recently and it would seem they are all now rated for noise level as well as speed etc. Probably about as accurate as fuel consumption figures but it's somewhere to start.

Im starting todo more miles now. Ive never had a hdi before. Ive been looking at a few on tinternet. The xantia hdis and c5 hdi are nearly the same price. The 406 hdis are cheaper. Ive noticed. The xsrea hdis do more miles pre gallon. Prob the same with the 306 hdis.
I would love a xantia hdi. Good ones are going for strong money. cheap ones are...

I attempted to jump start a 106 diesel from mine about 6 weeks after I got it about a year ago, the passenger side air bag light came on immediately, was on until a few weeks ago when an Italian tune up inexplicably turned it off.
My only experience of jump starting from an hdi but I'm not going to be doing it again.

The front left drivers seat nut has broken free and taken a section of floor with it.
The local welder that sorted one of my other cars said the plates they use aren't thick enough (unfortunately the young lad who did a top notch job before isn't there anymore)

So how hard is mig welding?

Very often use V power, the engine seems to run better. Put in £30 yesterday into a pretty empty tank. Two problems remaining on the car are no.1 injector ticking, but not as bad as the previous one, and the passenger air bag light, which came on last winter, when I attempted to jump start the wife's 106.

Insurance due in late December. Today, I got the AA letter saying that it was due soon, and that they would beat any like for like quote again. Last years was £158 fully comp, protected etc. That was after them having to match a much better quote than their own (over £200 I think)

I'm not aware of any PSA vehicles that use these (thankfully!)

I don't personally like the 'effect' of them, its a bit strange as there are no gears I guess merely a sliding cone or strap to generate a near infinite number of ratios, although the fact that they are high revving to initially move cannot really aid fuel economy.

The modern CVT in my dad's Honda Jazz is a lovely gearbox. Seems reliable too, and has a flappy-paddle mode where it'll pretend to be a seven speed manual so one can play at being a racing driver on the Greek mountain roads, which ia fun for about 10 minutes.

While swimbo was once more shopping for shoes, I took the opportunity to have a look round Halfords next door. I was kind of pricing batteries :shock:, and checking to see if they had LDS fluid in stock, :roll:.

My eyes were drawn to the selection of filters which I decided to price for future reference and on-line comparison. Above the filters...

Over the past few months I've been doing a bit of travelling for work, which normally involves a hire car. The last couple I've had are a Skoda Octavia (I think) and a VW Polo, in both of them I noticed something rather odd. I got less wheelspin with the traction control turned off. This is only on one or two occasions as I don't routinely spin...

I did have a Golf with TC and the usual ESP (or whatever they call it) on it, although I only really drove it gently not in anger being a TDi automatic with a weak transmission (sometimes would go into limp mode ie 3rd only and the TC lockup never worked so 60 = 3000rpm instead of 2000) :( . As part of other works, I'll have the fuel pump off my car so I thought I'd fit the fresh out the wrapper Bosch that I have on the shelf. The first task was to de-armour and remove the immobiliser, which didn't look like a pleasant task. Sat on a lounger in Sharm and the only site I can't get to is club xm :( don't get me wrong I'm not getting anything but dialup speeds here for other sites but they all load up eventually but club xm just sits and then dies a death with nothingn loaded and while I know it's slow at the best of times just wondering if anyone else is having the...

Being unschooled in torrent downloads (and noting sites like Pirate bay tended to imply they're heavily used for p**n sharing) I have been eyeing off Fleabay copies of SEDRE.

Some sellers go so far as to suggest the Pug version works with 64-Bit Win7. Has anyone been able to confirm this?

i had a pair of Vred's fitted on the 309gti back in the late 90's, Masses of tread on them, friends commented on how you could go Hiking in them! :-D lasted about the same as any tyres last when your 20 in a Gti! ;-)

They're illegal here except in a select few designated precincts. Not that it stops a small number of people using them in suburbia to scoot down the footpath for lunch or whatever. I think they're a good hybrid ; safer than the aluminium scooters.

I use dropbox for images now as I already had an account and can get a direct image link to embed the image seamlessly into the message rather than linking to an external site.

Affternoon guys,
now i know its very much not allowed due to the duty on heating oil not being the same etc. but Hypothetically (sp??) speaking, would the ol' trusty Xantia td engine (1.9 bosch) run okay on it??
or is it too thick, totally not suited etc. for use?? If you were to run on it, could you pay the additional duty somewhere??
