A C5 Exclusive with all the toys and leather. I have been trying to persuade for a couple of years now that is the car we want, Until today when she realised i was right i have been banging on about them.
The idea was and still is to sell the Jaguar and buy a C5 prefer an estate she says. Ok off we go to see 2 Estates, 1 exclusive and the other a standard C5 without the leather,
Both were nice although the Exclusive would need more than a valet to say the least but a very nice car, With the valet in mind i had a price in my head but i think it will sell for more than what i wanted to pay, Off to see the other car, nice but something not right, better colour but gut feeling i work on so thats out of the window.
ok the exclusive is the 2.2. i know i have been warned especially from Paul not to bother with the 2.2 but come on not all of them break, do they ? lol.
Up the creek without a paddle at the moment, I was buying a E320 Merc but the photos i received i was not happy with so deal off. My budget is not high to be honest but all in all a very exciting day now that i have the Mrs on my side.
So it's off to work tomorrow with the Jaguar up for sale but nobody can see it until next weekend because i'm not sure when i'm home next so will be scouring the country for the right car to view/buy next weekend and with a bit of luck the Jag will sell to.

Take your time looking......there are really good 2ltr Exclusives about....but FULL Leather and NAV is as rare as hens teeth, with pano roof even more so.
I also would not touch a 2.2 and any 1.6 is under powered (and also only VTR I think)

I love my 2.2
stop calling them
If correctly maintained they are fine, mines been great and still had plenty of grunt when needed. Get 36-45mpg depending on how you drive on daily commute.

Early versions of 2.2 HDi's as in the original C5 where they produced 136 bhp were a complete PITA, whereas the later version producing 173 bhp appears to work very well without issue. All I've had to do to mine is standard servicing as in fluids and filters, economy is decent as I'm averaging 45.5mpg commuting into London.

Re: Oh Dear the Mrs has fallen in love with
My 03 plate 2.2 was completely reliable as far as the engine/gearbox/clutch was concerned. The only things that went wrong were the heater module beside the clutch and an alternator. That was between 50,000 miles and I think 120000. The guy who bought it had a clutch and a siezed caliper and blew the turbo in the next two years and 14000 miles then it was for sale. I don't know where it is now.

I bet the 2.2's were not giving 58mph with 300kg in the rear at 250,000 like the early 2ltrs do
45.5mpg driving in London is quite remarkable, you have a good soft foot Sir
