The insurance for the Xantia HDi, Activa and Rover 75 is up for renewal on the first Jan, previously they have been covered under a trade policy but it seems that they have tightened things up and trade policies require proof of trading, either receipts of cars bought and sold or for parts from working on cars. I've tried going through a broker and speaking direct, some are less stringent on this but still work out insanely expensive.
I've been getting quotes for collector car policies (Glegg Gifford), multicar policies (admiral) and for each car as a single (through compare the Meerkat ..) but each way is prohibitively expensive ... Is insurance on the up?

By expensive I mean each option is between 1400-1700 quid, I can't justify that on 3 second, luxury cars.
I have my C1 on its own policy which costs less than £200 quid a year. The Ami 8 is on a classic policy for £135 a year.
I've always found insurance to be expensive for me, the Passat which I had a few months ago was costing almost £1200 a year alone! The HDi Xantia seems about £150 more to insure than the Activa

The obvious thing to do is to sell some cars but my cars are my hobby, an expensive hobby but nevertheless. However that is the route I'm considering now, as some of them really don't get much use.
I could use just insure the Xantias for the time I use them, as they're always off the road over winter to keep them away from the salt, so that's a help and means I don't have to sort something this soon. The 75 shares my daily driving with my C1 and I've really taken to it. I might insure that on its own and make my Xantia decisions later ...

I'm wondering what other people with a few cars do and what insurance companies you use, any help much appreciated
