Given the number of 'After-sales campaign' notices concerning Takarta Airbags I have been made aware of when looking up parts from PSA for members, I thought I would post a link to the following documentary that may be informative concerning the issue with these igniters.

According to Takata, the chemicals in the airbags’ explosive charge can...

Disruption to Parts Service

As you may be aware, the consolidation of the old PSA to the Stellantis Group systems has resulted in both a merge of data tools and a requirement to migrate PSA accounts to Stellantis Systems.

This has caused some problems for organisations like ours and the Team are currently looking at the best way forward. This...

1998 Renault Diesel Megane IR Key FOb immobiliser

by billysmart » 09 Apr 2008, 17:32

First post

I have a question and some information for others. My first key fob for my 1998 Renault Megane diesel is not working and the second is slowly committing suicide and taking many presses to work and deactivate the immobiliser due to flat batteries. The batteries needed are two CR2016 Maxwell 3V batteries.

I know I can test to see if the signal is...

Something I have done with another key fob is to pry out the PCB (printed circuit board), remove the batteries and any plastic housing and put it in the oven on 200 degrees centigrade for 10 minutes. Any dry joints on the PCB will be melted and reset. On one key fob, I found I had to do this about once every 6 months so I guess the solder was just...

Hi, i'm considering buying a clio 1.5 dci, but when I had a test drive the other day I found that the clutch was extremely heavy for a small car, so my question is is this a common problem and can anything be done to solve it or make it lighter many thanks in advance :)

Last post

I was driving a 2002 1.2 clio the other day, the clutch was very heavy. I then got into another 2002 1.2 Clio which had the same weight clutch. I got used to it after a while but its often a sign of a worn/aged clutch.

1.2 Clio Headgasket & Oil Consumption

by Citroenmad » 19 Dec 2011, 18:37

First post

There are two 1.2 8v Clio Authentiques I kind of look after for two girls at work, if I didnt they wouldnt ever get an oil check etc. Both Clios are 2002 plates.

One of them seems to have a problem with consuming oil. I serviced it about 3 months ago with the correct grade and high quality oil. I checked it over today to find the oil level now...

Last post

Good luck, hope it cures the problem!

You're right about the neck of the filler cap. I really doubt the area gets touched by the oil which will naturally end up in that kind of build up.

And the steering wheel... It's HUGE! It really spoils the feel of driving the car which is a shame. That was the thing I hated most about the Clio.

Also I hope...

Trafic Steering Rack

Hi All

Got a bit of play (so the tester says) on the inner balljoint of my power steering rack, anyone know if they are adjustable, or even if these joints are interchangable with the normal rack (I have a spare)

Cheers skes

Last post

To answer my own question, I bought a replacement Track rod for about £12.00.
Just need some big grips to get the old one undone, I took off the rack and put it in the vice, They just screw off but are held on by a jagged washer that allows it to tighten but not undo so give it some stick.

Yes I did it to my wife's 93 Clio 1.4 RT, you'll also need the steering column as the power steering version is shorter, also possibly the brackets and adjusters for the pump. It wasn't too bad a job to do although I did it some 10 years ago or so so I'm a little hazy on the details.

Kango Petrol 1.4 Keeps cutting out

by magictorch » 22 Oct 2011, 09:10

First post

My Kangoo (W reg 1.4 petrol) keeps cutting out and when going from high rev down to lowest engine revs.

Symptoms of issue are:
Engine is losing some oil (not from sump or seals)
When taking off the air intake/filter and looking at the accelerator cable there appears to be an electric sensor (idle control valve) on the rear of the housing (...

Last post

You will always get a small residual amount of oil through the air inlet into the throttle body, more so with turbocharged vehicles than normally aspirated ones though. Thats how throttle bodies get gummed up over time. If the O ring that seals the pipe to the throttle body is perished then some oil seepage is common.

I wouldn't bother with that, you can get working 1.9DCi LagunaIIs for little more money, certainly less than the repairs would cost plus the purchase price.

Often more trouble than they are worth too, unless its a looked after car. But with a second hand engine you wont know what your getting, and the 1.9dci is a bit iffy really.

got this one cant find the 51mpg one these trip meters will all differ from one car to the next, on a long journey you have to consider what weight you mite be carrying, are the tyers ok , roof racks will drasticly increase fuel consumption, even atmospheric conditions will change fuel consumption, so one car on one day may do 60mpg and on another...

Weird setting Grand Scenic II 2005

The missus managed to run her battery down listenign to the radio while cleaning out the car this morning and she had to jump it. Everything reset and the windows all only move up and down about an inch or two at a time . So you have to keep flickign the switches to get it all the way up or down.

I figured it was some sort of setting truggered...

Renault's windows have to be initialised after power failure for the anti-pinch system. With the window shut, start putting it down, releasing the button only when the window stops itself, then immediately pressing it again. Once it's the whole way down, press down once more. Then... do the same to put the window up. Once it's fully up, pull the...

Which Oil Would You Recommend?

by brmartyn » 13 Aug 2011, 21:36

First post

I need to top up my oil levels on my Megane 1.9DCi. Can I assume the recommended oil type is 10w - 40 diesel oil? or are other types better?

Last post

i had a few problems with mine a while back but the level on the dipstick was on the top mark it turned out to be because i was parking the car on a slope so the oil in the sump was running to back and giving the sensor the impression that the level was low.

Hi All
It might sound a strange question but my dad has a renault kangoo and has now noticed that there is oil in the water, Which probably suggests head gasket  but i have heard that there has been alot of cars with oil coolers which are connected to the cooling system and the oil cooler fails and lets the oil mix with the water !!! I now...

Electrics.........please read... (LOL)

by citroenxm » 25 Jul 2011, 21:36

First post

Ill post this here because its a Clio... however, it covers majority of cars...

Problem: Flat battery...

Battery state indicator showing green, an apparently ok battery.

Another known good battery fitted, car back to life, engine running a nice 14.2v into the battery, however, with ALL electrics on thats Lights and full beam, heater blower on...

Last post

Paul its easy to check the alternator with a multimeter across the terminalls but i would check across the battery terminals as this would indicate the amount of power reaching the battery and loom as there should be regulators between the alternator and the battery other tell tale signes would be poped fuses etc

by danielsydney » 04 Aug 2011, 00:09

Hi from Australia,

Just wondering if there were any real Renault Espace fans out there? There seems to be loads of them in the UK but Renault Australia dont import them here to Australia. I personally love them and would love to get some fan sites and some cool pics including interior shots please? Can anyone help?

Well the electric sliding doors can be a headache if they decide to misbehave. They tend to think there's something in the way and bounce back refusing to shut. A load of other random little electrical gremlins... anti-pollution systems etc. Do an owners review search and you should find out what you need to.

Then again, most of the cars I buy...

Renault Laguna II Privilege problems

by adecaddick » 28 Jul 2011, 19:26

First post

Hi everyone, this is my first post on here so go easy on me!!!

I have just purchased a Laguna 2.0 Privilege today, nice car, have previously owned 2.0 Dynamique model which I changed for a Citroen C5 2.2Hdi SX Auto, huge comfy car but rubbish fuel consumption and has the dreaded particle filter so changed this for another Laguna.

Anyway enough...

A Privilege model, very nice! The velour is a nightmare to keep clean but very comfy!

I'm afraid the Cabasse CD Changer is well known for disc loading problems. My Vel Satis used to just randomly stop playing a CD, display ERR CD then spit all 6 out.... not very fun while on the motorway. My aunty now owns this car and phoned my just yesterday to...
